Four Weddings and a Christmas by Phillipa Ashley is a heartwarming holiday romance set in the stunning Lake District, delivering a compelling story of second chances and true love. The enchanting backdrop of the Lake District adds a layer of charm, while the chemistry between Freya and Travis, two characters scarred by past relationships, is portrayed with depth and authenticity. The small-town atmosphere, family dynamics, and well-developed supporting characters enhance the narrative, and the witty dialogue provides moments of laughter. Despite some predictable elements, the book offers a cozy and inviting experience, making it a perfect read for the holiday season, especially in front of a warm fireplace.

‘I can’t imagine forever without you...'

Get ready for the festive season with another fabulous book from the queen of Christmas romance, Phillipa Ashley.

Four Weddings and a Christmas takes us back to the beautiful Lake District setting, where we first meet Freya Bolton at eight-years-old, as she gets ready to take part in a mock wedding with her groom, Travis Marshall.

Twenty-four years later, Freya runs her own property management company, Cottage Angels, preparing the Lake District’s holiday homes for Christmas visitors. However, she's in for a shock when the cottage she has just finished preparing turns out to be a long-term let to Travis Marshall - the man she almost married twice!

It seems that Freya and Travis have a long history, having been a couple as teenagers, and Travis even proposed at 18, but Freya called the wedding off after pressure from her mother, who always seemed to think Travis would end up like his troublesome father, who was in and out of prison throughout Travis's life.

However, fourteen year's later, Travis is a highly successful photographer, and he's opening his own gallery in their little town of Bannerdale.

Sparks still exist between the pair, but both are wary of each other, especially Travis, who doesn't trust Freya can be in a committed relationship, particularly after he learns of another failed engagement.

For Freya's part, having lost her father as a child seems to have impacted her ability to trust that she won't be hurt.

Can these two find the love they both deserve, especially when they are so meant for each other?

I loved Freya and Travis together. They work so well and you could just tell they belonged together.

The cast of characters around them were also great. From Travis's friend Hamza, to Roxanne and Mimi, Freya's best friends, to Travis's brother, Seb, who I really felt for - I was so glad to see him turn things around. The only one I really didn't particularly like was Freya's mum, who came across as very selfish and judgemental to me. I was glad to see Freya finally behave as an equal with her and stand her ground.

There's lots of drama, emotional scenes, as well as fun, festive goings-on, and the chemistry between Freya and Travis was fantastic.

Four Weddings and a Christmas is another brilliant read, and I highly recommend it. I could hardly put it down to see how Freya and Travis's story went!

Cosy up with a warm blanket, the Christmas tree lights on, and enjoy this fabulously festive and entertaining Christmas romance.

Many thanks to the publishers, Avon Books UK, and to Netgalley for allowing me to arc read this wonderful book.

It just isn't Christmas with a Phillipa Ashley book to lose yourself in; and this one is no exception. A lovely read for the festive season.

This is one of the best seasonal reads this year!
Great characters, Lake District setting and a lovely rom com story.
I could not resist reading this instead of doing some housework and even going to sleep.
Freya and Travis have history, lots of it, but they have not seen each other for over 12 years. When Travis moves back into the village to be near his family and to open up his own photographic gallery, he has no idea that the first person he would meet in his new home is his old flame Freya..
A lovely family read.

Thanks to the Publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. The setting was in the beautiful districts of North West England, where everyone knows everyone’s business.

We meet Travis, who after a difficult childhood, has now made a life for himself, as a nature photographer, and feels Joe is the time to put down roots.

Freya, has also done well for herself with her own company and always happy to help others. When they meet, they remember their childhoods, and we learn what happened all those years ago.

Will they both now put the last behind them and finally admit their true feelings to each other?

I highly recommend this book.

Lovely festive book! Easy cosy reading!!
Freya has successfully built up her business of preparing and caring for rental properties in the Lake District. With Christmas on the way there are extra details to consider! Travis is returning home to his home village in the Lake District after travelling around the world for years becoming a successful photographer. Can he create a new business showcasing his photographs and tours?!
This is a great book, but for me a little disappointing. I found the story very formulaic and the characters I couldn’t relate or connect to at all. In parts a little predictable. I wanted to completely love this as all previous Philippa Ashley books, but was left feeling flat and a bit sad.
Thank you NetGalley and Avon books for the early read.

I loved this book and it's a great start to the Christmas season! Set in the Lake District, Freya is a great character to follow. She has loved Travis since an early age but when he returns to the village she isn't sure how she feels. He's returning to set up his own photography image gallery and take tours around the Lake District.
I loved the storyline and it kept me interested to the end.

My joy at reading a Christmas book from Phillipa Ashley and finding that it was set in the Lake District, was off the proverbial scale. Little did I know how special this book would be. In fairness, although I knew that there was a Lakeland theme, the story really only mentioned the setting, rather than dwelled on it.
Freya is possibly my favourite character yet, she was upbeat and focused despite having known some real heartbreak. Losing her Dad at a very tender age and then haunted by having loved and lost Travis Marshall, she is remarkably balanced. Of course, so many of us plough on despite having endured some real heartache.
Freya’s business is one that I could envisage and even smell the festive candles as we entered the cottages. I had a similar business when I was in Colorado, and it brought back some lovely memories.
Travis was totally gorgeous, not just in looks, although he did sound delectable, but in his gentle nature and love for his family. Another box was ticked as I love getting out with my camera and the Lakes is a perfect subject. The descriptions of the images in his gallery, and especially the snow hare, completely captured my imagination.
I really enjoyed the supporting cast, from Freya’s friends, Mimi and Roxanne, to her influencer mother. Then Travis and his family, Seb, and Bree along with best friend, Hamza, each character was perfectly imagined and lent real depth to this gorgeous story.
With perfectly developed characters and a totally relatable story, Four Weddings and a Christmas is a serious contender for my Christmas book of the year. I may struggle to single out an actual number one, but this will be up there.

Thank you NetGalley and AVON/Harper Collins Publishers Ltd. for a copy of "Four Weddings and a Christmas" in exchange for my honest review.

Once again Ms. Ashley has written a captivating book with fun characters and an engaging storyline. The story starts with an 8 year old Freya standing outside Bannerdale Church in the Lake District. The school is holding a mock wedding and she's the "bride". The groom is Travis Marshall and she leaves him standing at the altar when she runs away.

Many years later, Freya runs her own Property Management Service with her friend Mimi. She is preparing Squirrel Cabin for a new check-in when she finds that Travis has rented the cabin. We learn that she and Travis almost married for real when they were 18. Freya's mother interfered and talked her into calling off the engagement the day after Travis proposed.

Travis comes from a troubled background - a father who spent more time in prison than out of it. He took responsibility to help raise his sister Bree and his brother Seb. Freya has a fear of commitments it seems and she almost married to stability and predictability but she called that wedding off as well. This is a wonderful story about people learning to trust one another, of forgiving each other and accepting that things might not be perfect but they can be very good.

The story ends 20 months later with lots of love, laughter and happiness. This is a wonderful heartwarming Christmas story. As always I'm eagerly awaiting what Ms. Ashley will write next.

Another great read from Phillipa Ashley. We are in the lake district and following the main characters - Freya and Travis. Freya grew up here and never left the village she came from. She hasn't been lucky in love. Her father died when she was very young so it has just been her and her mum until recently. Travis couldn't wait to get away but has returned to run a photographic gallery. They have a past together - will it happen again? There are lots of ups and downs in the story which also looks at the lives of each individual's family both in the past and present.
I loved this book and couldn't put it down.
Thanks to net galley for the free read.

I always enjoy Phillipa's books and this was certainly no exception, all the way from their teens until the present day Freya and Travis have been a part of each other's lives, even if they didn't quite realise it, so it's wonderful they finally committed to one another, wonderful!

When Freya is busy sorting out a rental property the last thing she expects is to come face to face with one of her exs, Travis. As the story develops we learn more about our main characters pasts and what led them to get together and split. Is it as simple as it seems at face value?
It took me a little while to fully get into this story but once I did I was invested until the end. The characters really grow on you the more you read about them.
There’s tales of love and loss, both within families and relationships.
The setting is perfect for the story and is written in such a way that you can visualise everything within this little town.
I would love to know what happens next for all our characters.
All in all very well written and a lovely story of how people can move on and change but also how people’s actions can be misunderstood. I really like how Seb’s story was included throughout this book and also how their dad featured and how this part was concluded.

This is a tale of second - or third? - chances for Freya and Travis. Freya has a successful holiday home cleaning business and is shocked when she meets her ex Travis, with whom she has a long history which resulted in him leaving the area. He is now back to set up a new gallery showcasing his photography business, can they ever recover their previous feelings for each other?
Set in the lovely Lake District I found that I could understand Travis and his issues with forming relationships from his previous experiences. Freya is not so straightforward, but I did feel for her and hoped that she could find her way forward. Throw in some family troubles, the weddings and some amazing sounding wildlife photography and this is a book that I definitely enjoyed.
I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley, however this did not influence my review of the book.

This book had me hooked from start to finish as Phillipa Ashley’s books usually do.
The story of Freya and Travis is a very bumpy one…will they..won’t they along with a great cast of characters all set in the beautiful Lake District. Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for an ARC in return for an honest review.

This is a perfect feel good Christmas read.

Freya ran out of her “wedding} to Travis when she was 8, when she runs away when they are teens, Travis knows it will never work, so he leaves the town and goes off traveling and taking pictures.

Travis returns to the hometown and opens a gallery. Freya runs a cleaning company there and when there paths meet, will there be fireworks?

A brilliant read, loved everything about this book, the characters are easy to read about and the location is wonderfully described. Totally recommend.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for a copy.
