This was a nice easy read. I couldn’t totally relate to Freya and I found the whole Christmas Day a little awkward but the overall storyline was enjoyable.
I want to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the ebook. First off the cover is super cute.
I have read a few titles from this author and I have enjoyed them. But this one fell flat for me. I don't know what it is but I cannot stand the main female character. She is absolutely selfish, rude and bossy .Everything has to go her way. I think the main male character should just run far far away from her. This was just a no for me.
I received a free copy of, Four Weddings and a Christmas, by Phillipa Ashley, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. No strings attached flings are never a good idea, someone usually always gets hurt. Freya from the Lake District finds that out herself, with Travis. I rather enjoyed Freya though she is a lovely character in a beautiful town.
Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book. Freya enjoy her work and is unsure she wants to be in a relationship. When she sees Travis who she's dated previously. She starts to get attached to him. I enjoyed the chemistry between Freya and Travis.
Another festive and enjoyable rom-com by Philippa Ashley. Loved Freya and the setting, enjoyed the well plotted story.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine
Enjoyed the story. Our main characters have both had a lack of a father figure when growing up.
Could they take a chance on love this time?
Great setting and characters, loved the photography element of the story too.
Will be happy to recommend
Set in the Lake District, Bannerdale; well, that's a great start to a festive read!
The main characters have been born in the village, they appeared together in a school play and were to be "married". Freya was terrified, got stage fright and left Travis at the altar. She has never been able to live it down!
Years later, Freya runs a Cottage Cleaning business, called Cottage Angels and she endeavours to make everyone's stay idyllic, magical and unforgettable. She has a new guest who has rented a cottage over the festive period; surprise, it's Travis. He has his own photography business and he does walks and tours for budding photographers/artists.
It's that romantic time of the year, Christmas, perfect setting; Freya and Travis find themselves attracted to each other; will it result in a fling or something more serious??
This Phillipa Ashley book does not disappoint, it's a perfect story in a perfect setting, great characters - what's not to love!
Freya has two failed relationships under her belt the first to school sweetheart Travis which she ended the day after he proposed and the second lasted till 2 weeks before the wedding.
Travis left his home town to get away from from Freya after being hurt only to return 10 years later
They bump into each other and rekindle there relationships with no strings attached .Only to find out they love each other more now than before..
Loved this holiday romance based in the lakes
Lovely, easy to read book. Liked the characters and loved the descriptions of the setting of the story. Could almost imagine being there. Would recommend this book.
Can't beat a beautiful village at Christmas time!
This is a story of loss, friendship, family, love and all the issues along a bumpy road wrapped in community spirit and Christmas festivities. Definitely a book to snuggle up with, it will fill your heart with happiness and joy, lovely read!
When Freya Bolton broke Travis Marshall’s heart, Travis ran away from the village where they lived and became a successful photographer.
Freya, meanwhile, built up a thriving business managing and caretaking holiday cottages in the beautiful Lake District village. Deciding that love and commitment isn’t for her, Freya is happy with her life.
Now Travis has returned, and is opening a shop and gallery in the village. When they meet sparks instantly fly, but is getting involved with an old flame a good idea or are they destined to repeat past mistakes. With Christmas fast approaching Freya and Travis have a big decision to make. The most wonderful time of the year is the perfect time to heal old wounds if only they are willing to take a chance.
A beautiful, heart-warming story, with strong lead characters and a wonderful setting. Perfect to cosy up and lose yourself in on a cold winter day.
This is a sweet, heartfelt story of family, love, and second chances. Freya and Travis had a rough start, (at the age of 8), and continued to struggle with their relationship , until they ended it for good at age 18. Fast forward ten years, and Travis has returned to his home town to open a gallery and be near his siblings. When he and Freya meet again, they each realize love never really goes away. But getting past a life time of hurts may keep these two from finding their happily ever after either with each other or someone else.
I loved the characters, especially Freya. The plot, while predictable, was beautifully written and completely captivating. Great feel good story for the holidays.
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I loved this (even if it wasn't set in Cornwall like a lot of Phillipa's other books :) ). The story was engaging and entertaining. A lot of subjects covered really resonated with me, especially absent parents and how that can take its toll on you throughout your life.
As always, with Phillipa's books, you always end them feeling like you've spent time with new friends and ones you'd love to know what happens with the rest of their lives :)
A wonderful novel by Phillipa Ashley. Four Weddings and a Christmas takes place during Christmas time, which is always a magical time. Freya and Travis, I just loved them. They never stopped loving each other, even after time away. Travis was always afraid he would grow up to be like his father. Freya could never stop loving Travis. When they see each other again, what will they do?
This is a sweet story. Once I started I had a hard time putting it down. You will love Freya and Travis and root for them along the way.
I really enjoyed this book. Very festive and I loved following Freya and Travis’s story. Both really likeable characters. The supporting characters were all great too and there was a lovely community feel within the fictional village in which the story was set. Just a beautiful Christmassy read. I’ll be recommending this to everyone.
A great Christmas read as alway by philippa her writting style pulls you into the story you love the characters a very easy to read book fab
A lovely festive read. A great cast of characters and really well written. I enjoyed this very much. Highly recommended.
Loved this book so pleased I got the chance to read it early . Loved the characters really enjoyed the story. Enjoyed the back stories from some of the characters, liked how the community comes together at certain points in the book x
Another wonderful Christmasy book from Philippa. Introducing Freya Bolton from the Lake District who doesn’t cope with relationships, marriage or a certain childhood friend Travis. Travis returns to the Lakes having been away for many years and as they bump into each other once more we get to know more about these characters and their family and friends. As I love the Lake District this book was even more special. Great characters, a great storyline and great writing.
Thanks to Phillipa and her publisher. Thanks also to NetGalley.
Four Weddings and a Christmas by Phillipa Ashley is a cosy book that had less Christmas than I'd have liked, but enough heart to make up for it!
I really enjoyed how the side characters are as important as the main romance is, which made the book feel a bit deeper and more rounded!
We have a successful photographer from a broken family background, who, which his sister, tries to help his brother out of a hard time.
We have a woman who's running a business sticking and caring for holiday homes, who has serious commitment issues.
There are a couple of other side characters who are less prominent, but still felt like real people who mattered, and I liked the friendships and bonds in the community. Not everything is rosy all the time, and there is some friction, but mostly it's a book that makes you feel hopeful and warm inside.
While it does take place at Christmas time, aside from one scene on Christmas day and some mentions of decorated trees and hampers, it's mostly a regular romance with some Christmas dashes, so if you don't want your holiday read to be drowning you in baubles, this is a great choice!
