this book was absolutely amazing!! from the moment i met lucian & sloane in TWNGO, i knew they would break my heart and put it all back together again. lucian is just *chef’s kiss*!! we finally learn what transpired between him & sloane when they were younger, and it is absolutely heart shattering. and THE SMUT?!? mrs. lucy score absolutely brought on the spice with this last novel in the trilogy.
i will say, there were parts of the plot that were a little murky, and this was definitely quite a slow burn, but i didn’t mind it too too much. although this is a romance novel, the plot point of lucian’s firm and what he does was so so interesting and i wish it would’ve been touched upon more or explained in further detail. there were moments where i felt the story was moving a tad too slow, but there were certain unexpected plot twists meddled in there that kept things rather intersting.
the chemistry between these two? palpable! when lucian first strikes that agreement between them at the hotel?? nearly passed out from the hotness.
the real star of the novel? meow meow— if silently passing judgement was a person, it’d be meow meow with the glares she gave lucy. lucy definitely loved her, he was just playing hard to get.
overal, a great story, my favorite one in the knockemout series by far! 4/5⭐️
Love, love, love!! This series is fantastic if you are a fan of small town romances with a bit of mystery and excitement. Lucian and Sloane's story was highly anticipated for me since book one, and Lucy Score did not disappoint. This is the third book in the series and I'd highly recommend reading the first two first. They are choncky at over 550 pages each, but they don't feel long. I hate to say goodbye to these characters and this town, but I will be re=reading I am sure.
This book was perfect!!! I absolutely loved being back in the Knockemout world. And Sloane is my favorite. This is a the perfect conclusion to this series! It was different from the first two in the best way.
I binged this book in 2 days, and that’s so rare for me! I loved the dual timelines and POVs. There was so much depth to the characters that their story just sucked me in.
And the ending ripped my heart out in the best way. this one is by far my favorite of the series. More than books 1/2 combined even!
This is my favorite book of 2023 so far!!!
I love anything by Lucy Score and this book was fantastic. It's the third in the series and should be read in order. We finally get the story of Lucien and Sloane, and all their bickering, angst, and turmoil was reveal. Such a great storyline.
Lucy Score has finished a beautiful trilogy with our most anticipated...well MY most anticipated couple!
I don't want to give much away due to the nature of the story, but let's just say this one knocks it out of the park. The characters are swoony, driven, sexy, and utterly fabulous. The banter is off the charts. Four peppers at least in the steam department.
If you haven't tried a Lucy Score title, you're missing out. Her books have heart, heat, and hotness.
It isn't necessary to read the first two but it is highly recommended just so you have the background in some of the characters.
Can't wait for what's next!
The last book in the series featuring Lucien and Sloane. The h and the H have known each other since they were kids. The H’s father was extremely abusive. The h tried to help him, but did something that turned the H against her. Decades later animosity still lingers between them; so does physical attraction. Sloane faces danger and the H and the rest of knockemout work to protect her. Knox and Naomi , Nash and Lina, Stef and Jeremiah are all in the story. Good conclusion to a great series.
I got a ARC from net galley
Lucy Score can create a romance story between two tin cans, as far as I’m concerned. Through the two previous novels, Lucian and Sloan were always a big part of their stories, even if they were hovering in the background. I was so very excited that they were finally getting their own novel to complete the trio, and I wasn’t disappointed. I read this book in one sitting by the pool on a hot day and it was honestly the nicest summer read. The tension between the two was palpable but Score balances it all out with witty banter and some good spice mixed in.
I would have liked just a touch more backstory to how Lucian got to where he was, but I think it filled in a lot of holes that were left by the other two books and the illusiveness of the character himself.
Ugh!! I absolutely adore Lucy Score. This book was so good!! I loved that Sloane was a librarian... Being one myself, I found it super relatable. This one was the best by far, but all of the books in this trilogy have been great!! Definitely couldn't put this one down.
I have been waiting for Lucian and Sloane's story since they were introduced in the first Knockemout book and it was worth the wait. Lucian's story and growth is my favorite of the series characters. The chemistry and sexual tension between these two is stronger than ever as we learn about their past and what tore them apart. This story isn't just about Lucian and Sloane though, it ties up all the questions and loose ends from previous books. A perfect ending to the Knockemout story.
Thank you to Bloom Books at ALA for my advanced copy!
First off, I want to say a big thank you to Bloom Books for the ARC🫶🏼
Things We Left Behind is the conclusion to the Knockemout series and let me tell you, it's a good one. Slogans and Lucian were just so perfect and heartbreaking! I'm sad that it's over but I can't wait to see what Lucy Score writes next! Absolutely fantastic work!
I discovered Lucy Score on NetGalley and she instantly became one of my favs. I have been counting down the days for this book in the series and it did not disappoint. The characters are spunky, the dialogue hilarious and the spicy scenes are plentiful and steamy. If I had one complaint, it’s that I got nothing done because I could not stop reading.. Thanks Lucy!
Lucy Score never fails! Her characters jump off the page and you can not help but fall in love with them. She is a master storyteller.
I loved this whole series so much, but this one was by far my favourite. Maybe because the reader got to revisit the other characters and catch up on their lives a bit as well as getting to know Lucian and Sloan. I'm so sad this series has ended.
This book was a great wrap up to the Knockemout series. I love how Lucy Score developed all of her characters throughout the series and really gave each one of them the perfect ending.
I loved this last book on the folks in Knockemout. How could I not when the main female character is a librarian! I was really hoping that we'd get one more book on Maeve and Kurt but I guess the Bonus epilogue covers everyone. Thanks Lucy for this fun series with folks who come to life off the pages. Thanks to NetGalley for the adbvanced copy. #NetGalley #ThingsWeLeftBehind
if there is one thing lucy score is going to do it’s going to be writing/creating such a great world of characters that make it hard to say goodbye when their chapters come to a close. this book was incredible!
if you’re a fan of:
- touch her you die and no one will ever find the body because i have men to handle clean up
- childhood friends to “i hate your guts and everything you are” to “just kidding! I’ve been in love with you since we were teens”
- ‘cold as you’ and ‘the last time’ by taylor swift
- found family!!
- HE FALLS FIRST!!!
- literally the greatest enemies to lovers storyline you’ve ever read ever finally coming to a close
- living your best life and reading good books
Then this is THE book for you!
lucian rollins. a man of few words. except of course when it comes to his neighbour turned enemy, sloane. imagine kaz brekkar, six of crows, in a romance novel. you have lucian. no lie.
sloane and lucian have an intense amount of hatred for one another. they literally can’t even be in the same room for a minute without someone starting up a fight. so why are they suddenly feeling protective? jealous? the most intense feelings towards a person they hate? can’t tell ya. you’ll just have to read! the! book!
thank you to netgalley and SOURCEBOOKS BLOOM books for an e-arc of this book!
I really enjoyed book one in this series, but since the very beginning I was most excited about Lucian and Sloane’s book. It promised all of my favorite romance tropes: second chance, childhood friends to enemies, enemies to lovers.
Instead Things We Leave Behind gave me everything I hate in a romance novel. It was an extremely long book in which Lucian was hot and cold, mostly cold, and an insufferable jerk throughout most of it. His reasons for “hating” Sloane, after they were finally revealed, were nonsensical.
Lucian’s push and pull with Sloane was infuriating and honestly left me hoping Sloane would tell him off and mean it. Lucian even says at one point that he is “not worthy” of Sloane and he was right, he was not. Not worthy of Sloane and not a worthy hero.
I was very excited to be approved by Bloom Books and NetGalley to read and review the third book in this series before it’s published in September! I posted before that I absolutely loved the first book (Things We Never Got Over), but was a little disappointed in the second (Things We Hide From The Light). This one is the story of Lucian and Sloane, and I thought it was so good- right up there with book #1! These characters will all stay with me for a long time. I really enjoyed this series ❤️
My thanks to NetGalley for making an eARC of this book available to me.
Anyone who has enjoyed the first two book in this series will certainly enjoy this one. Pretty much the same cast of characters, just with a focus on a different couple.
If you can handle physically overbearing macho men, electric and extended sexual encounters, good good-guys, bad bad-guys, nicknames and endearments galore (although the use of "Baby" makes me shudder), good family, bad family, found family, and lots and lots and lots of snarky quips and conversation, then this book could be for you.
Wow! I knew this book was going to be good, but what I didn’t know was it was going to complete me in the way that it did. Lucy has really outdone herself in telling this story between Sloane and Lucian in the most beautiful way. From kids, to heartbreak, to healing together it was absolutely the best way you could’ve ended one of my favorite series.
