After reading this book it seemed to me that I was reading an open shell of a book. What I mean to say is that this book is missing all the tools that a most intriguing book should have. While the characters were plenty of and carried that emotional and engaging persona, other aspects of the book really need some work. My interpretation of the book is that it was reaching out to young readers. Why?
This book was written as a thriller with serious action and drama. No young reader wants to read that. They rather play video games when it comes to the action that was listed in the synopsis. The dialogue from the main character seemed so blah, blah. It was as though a young punk kid with a chip on his shoulder.
The kid was talking rather than expressing an intelligent, grown man conversation from someone with a serious background. The characters walked around in the story in more of a robotic state than the comfortable engaging character. A character who appears to be in their element feeding off other characters, their surroundings and the plot to the book. The one thing I was lost on was the description or details of what the characters looked like. Their facial expressions.
Needless to say I struggled with the book. Until next time my fellow readers. Read on!
I haven't read much by this author before, but I enjoyed this book, and will go back to the rest in the series! Highly entertaining.
You are back with Tom Rollins and he is still with his girlfriend. This time though the story takes a different turn that evolves his family when his brother who is in Chicago needs help. Tom does not want to go there but is forced in a way because their father has decided to go. The brother has gotten himself into trouble with a gang which is at the beginning of the story and by the time you get to the end I am not liking his brother at all especially how he treats his girl. A fast story at times with many characters. Is a good book for the series.
I came upon this series by accident and this is the first book that I have read in from its contents. I am impressed with the ability of this writers ability to pull you in right away. Good characters and great storylines while drawing out emotions as you read the book. This book has Tom refusing to help his brother, Anthony, yet again get out of the mess he's gotten himself in again. But the following morning a phone call changes everything.
Read to learn what Anthony has gotten himself into and how they plan to fix this issue.
I personally will be going back a reading this series from the beginning. I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Complex thriller, part of a series featuring Tom Rollins. Fast paced with plenty of twists and some surprises.
This book is entertaining, with a plot that's well thought out in order to entertain, but is pure nonsense in the real world. It's filled with bad tactics, and there are some very strange details, like a Luger??? So the book is readable if you don't use your brain too much.
This is a thrill a minute with great characters and plenty of action. It’s a big call to refer to an author as being for those who loves Lee a child’s but this one is worthy of it - he matches Child’s commitment and enthusiasm for a great character.
Tom Rollins is trying to settle down, he has moved in with his girlfriend and life is good. Then his father appears and it seems that his brother has got himself into trouble. Tom doesn't care about helping him but when his father goes to to help his son Tom is forced to help out. Blood Feud is another gritty masterpiece by Paul Heatley. I don't understand where he gets it all from, this is the third book out this year. Well I shouldn't complain since I love his work and if you like me enjoys a good thriller check him out. There is some curveballs thrown in this one I didn't see coming. I give a big thanks to Inkubator Books and Netgalley for letting me read this.
