Kimberly Foss's story of how she overcame obstacles on the way to becoming a successful financial advisor was fascinating to me, and I recommend reading it if you have a chance. She clearly cares about her customers and has their best interests in mind; she detailed her process for creating financial plans for them and the considerations she gives to each individual case. However, the examples she provides involve multimillion-dollar investments. This seems to lend credence to the idea that most institutions in the financial sector solely cater to the wealthy. All the moving parts and considerations of investing do offer a strong case for working with a financial counselor, but only if you have significant pockets.
Thank you to #netgalley and Kimberly Foss for this ARC for an honest review.
Wealthy by Design is red by the author. Ms. Foss is a successful investor and financial advisor. In the book, she gives her thoughts on investing and her history in the field. This book is an easy listen, and the author has a pleasant voice. She gives some basic rules that she has learned over the years about investing and how to choose a financial advisor. Some of these were helpful to me. I was actually looking for something a little more basic that would explain more about the different types of investments. Of course, her personal story was the most interesting, and clearly, she has been very successful in this business, and would make a great financial advisor. This book will appeal more to someone that is interested in becoming a financial advisor, or is seeking the best financial advisor for their personal portfolio. Thanks to Netgalley and GreenleafBook Group publishing for giving me the opportunity to listen to this book in exchange for an honest review.
Great narrator - made a potentially dry topic very engaging.
I don't know enough about this subject to comment especially intelligently. However, I found the author's story of how she formed her business very interesting. It served as a great example when she was discussing how people can best utilise their money to make it work for them in the form of investments. The basics of investing were fairly well covered here too (at least as far as I could tell) although I'd want to read a few more books on the subject before I experimented! Overall though this was an accessible primer and introduction to the subject and a surprisingly enjoyable read.
A succes story of a financial advisor/broker. She tells you to diversify your investments. Something a lot of people probably already know. Get advise from a financial advisor or read a book about finance. Its pretty ok advice. Not mindblowing.
