I really enjoyed the first book in this series but this one was even better. The Collins sisters are such strong woman who are always there for each other. Lorelei has a big heart for animals and finds a sweet little white buffalo calf she names Curly. He definitely steals the show in this book and ends up bringing a lot of trouble for the sisters and Tanner. Through all the turmoil, Lorelei ends up showing Tanner that he is worthy of not only God’s love but her’s also.

I was provided a copy of the book from the author/publisher. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.

ROCKY MOUNTAIN PROMISE is about a woman who loves animals and learned to care for them under her father's care, and a man who is trying to make his own way to success in the rugged wilderness of the Rocky Mountains. Proximity and necessity bring these two together as they care for a buffalo calf. This is a story full of familial relationships as well as friendships, set in a rugged life, with some suspenseful and inspirational moments woven through this overall sweet romance.

I enjoyed the first book in this series and was looking forward to the other sisters' stories in subsequent books. Lorelei, the sister focused on in this story, is an animal lover. She is the one who generally takes medical care of the animals on her family's ranch. She has a very soft heart, but also a fierce, protective one. It was interesting seeing her work through different situations and figure out different people she interacted with. Tanner is a fun character. I liked his protective nature as well as good sense and skills that came in handy a bit as he runs his trading post and seeks to protect. He's a solidly dependable guy who has a sense of humor and charm that livened up the book. Together they're a fun match. It was also fun seeing the other characters from the first book and I'm looking forward to seeing which sister gets her happily-ever-after next.

The story is interesting in how a buffalo calf ends up being quite the instigator. It's paced fairly steadily with a few moments of climax, especially towards the end. The religious aspects weren't overdone and were weaved throughout. The romance had some chemistry and was sweet. I liked seeing the different relationship as well.

I think the thing that was hard for me in this story was that I didn't love the heroine. Lorelei is sweet and caring, but she seems very young and naive for who she's supposed to be. She also came across as pretty one dimensional through much of the story. It's really hard for me to love a story when I struggle with one of the main characters. I think she needed more depth and development, as well as more maturity. There were also some parts that didn't feel genuinely realistic.

In the end, was it what I wished for? This was a fairly enjoyable story and an interesting plot in how the myth surrounding the white buffalo was used. Fans of the author and genre should enjoy this one.

I try to read every book that Misty B. Beller writes. I have been out west and I know how beautiful it is. She writes so beautifully that I feel I am there. She visually paints a picture with her words.

This sweet story is about Lorelei. She has a soft spot for any member of the animal family. In this book, she is taking care of a white buffalo calf. This isn't an easy task. With some help from the new trading post owner, Tanner Mason, she has found another species that she cares for.

I loved the tale. It was entertaining as well as informative. I didn't have any idea that white buffalos were sacred to Native Americans.

I'll continue to read and enjoy anything Misty B. Beller writes. I hope it will be for a long time.

This is the second book in a series, so far, and it is a great series. Misty M Beller has written a book with a strong female lead character who is also gentle at the same time. I loved Lorelei, who will fight for what is right, protect what is hers, and care for the weak and wounded--man or animal. She is proficient with guns, horses, and healing.

Lorelei's story begins with her finding a dead buffalo cow and a young calf nearby. The calf is no ordinary calf, it's a white calf, which is extremely rare and a lot of legends hold that it brings good fortune to its owner or its people. Lorelei made sure that the cow was, in fact, dead, loaded the calf on her horse and rode back to her home. Soon after she returns home, Tanner Mason the owner of the new trading post comes to the ranch where Lorelei lives with her sisters and White Horse, a Blackfoot Indian.

White Horse works around the ranch helping the sisters and training the new horses on the ranch. He is an invaluable friend to the girls.

Tanner becomes a lifeline for the calf, because he has a milk-producing cow and they are able to buy the milk for him. He also becomes an invaluable friend to the girls, but especially to Lorelei.

White Horse and Tanner both end up protecting the calf from those who would steal it. When a Sioux tribe moves in close to the girls' ranch, the girls decide that girls would be best protected by moving the calf to the trading post.

There are a couple of sub-plots woven into the story that give color and depth to the novel. There is romance in this narrative, but it is not overwhelmingly sugary. While this can be called a romance novel, Misty does not follow the "Romance Novel Formula," instead she writes a story that flows organically. Her writing style makes the book hard to put down and easy to lose sleep over. It is a five-star book, with two thumbs up, and a White Buffalo calf to bring you blessings.

Lorelei has always loved animals and comes across a rare albino buffalo calf. She decides to take care of it on her and her sisters' land. The Native Americans say it means blessing, and you cannot harm it or trade it. Unfortunately, they have no milk to feed the calf. But luckily a new trader, Tanner, comes along with a milking cow, and they do business together for the milk. When others, hear about the buffalo calf, they want to see it, touch it and even take it for themselves. Tanner, decides to bring Lorelei and the calf to his trade post to keep them safe but will it be enough?

This is book two in the series. I really liked the story of this one. I thought it very interesting with the white buffalo element. I loved seeing all the characters from the first book return. I really liked Tanner and felt bad for him with his past. Lorelei was so caring and considerate of Tanner's feelings. I loved their relationship, and chemistry. There are great faith elements throughout the book. We also get a glimpse of a possible romance starting for one of the other sisters. This historical romance story was the perfect blend of romance, adventure, danger and faith. Overall, a great read and I definitely recommend!

“Rocky Mountain Promise” is the second book in the Sisters of the Rockies series, it has the strength and foundation to work as a standalone read. I love the interesting ties to Native American beliefs and tradition! Such an interesting premise and opening to this story!

Lorelei is such an interesting character, and so easy to connect with. I love her devotion and dedication to the little white buffalo calf, Curly. And I was quickly drawn to Tanner, who reveals a protective and kind nature. I knew these two would complement each other from the get-go, and eagerly rooted for them to discover happiness with each other.

This story of hope is wrapped up nicely with elements of faith and romance. The perfect read for animal lovers and lovers of romance.

Rocky Mountain Promise, by Misty M. Beller, is the second book in the Sisters of the Rockies series. This is a Christian historical fiction story that focuses on Collins sister who have moved to a ranch in the Rocky Mountain area. This story does follow the first one with the same characters so it is best to read this series in order. This is a well written, easy to read story that is filled with action, suspense and mystery. I enjoyed the story behind the white buffalo, the care that is given to it and the desire to own it by others.

I enjoyed reading the story and the growing friendship between Lorelei and Tanner. I found it interesting to see the way Lorelei, her family and Tanner cared for each other. I also enjoyed the devotion White Horse gave to the sisters and how the sisters helped him in his search for his mother. This is an enjoyable story to read that kept me guessing about events happening.

Escape to the Rocky Mountains in 1838 for action, adventure, and romance! In the time of trappers, supply trains, and trading with Native Americans in the West, this story delivers suspense and adventure as Tanner and Lorelei work together to survive and thrive while caring for animals, family, and friends.

Honestly, the first book in this series (Rocky Mountain Rendezvous) and this second book (Rocky Mountain Promise), are the first books I have read my Misty M Beller. I ADORE them! I feel like I must have been living under a rock to not read her work sooner. She delivers action adventure romance in the same vein as Karen Witemeyer, Jody Hedlund, and Mary Connealy but in her own unique storytelling style and settings. I adored the deep characters, the vivid descriptions, the exciting action, and the swoony romance! I will be reading her backlist of books as soon as possible!

Although Tanner’s constant self-doubt seemed to be repetitive, his redemption arc as he finds his value in Christ adds so much depth and truth to the story, and I loved it. And although I don’t connect with Lorelei’s strong love of animals (to the extreme degree she adores them), I did love how she showed her family and friends that they are more valued and precious, and she was able to help lead Tanner to Christ.

Tanner and Lorelei’s romance is the stuff of dreams, and their interactions are both sweet and swoony. I always love a combination of a protective hero and a spunky heroine!

I highly recommend that readers read the bonus epilogue on Misty M Beller’s website too! Tanner and Lorelei’s happily ever after is the sweetest!

Be sure to grab the first two books of the Sisters of the Rockies series! I cannot wait for the next installment!

I received a copy of Rocky Mountain Promise in exchange for an honest review. My thoughts are my own. I really did love it!

I found this story both fascinating and entertaining. Hey, I love animals; what can I say? I also love the Rockies; I lived many years in the foothills of the Front Range. Since I like history, it was interesting to learn more about the white buffalo. It warmed my heart to see how devoted Lorelei was to protecting the white buffalo calf, and to nourishing it. It was also surprising to see the lengths she went to do just that.

If you're an animal lover, and a history buff, you will definitely want to read this book.

Rocky Mountain Promise is a fabulous addition to Misty M Beller’s Sisters of the Rockies series. This second installment once again transports me back in time to when the buffalo roamed the land. I loved the author’s use of vivid details that made me feel as though I was living right there at that very moment. Lorelei’s story is one that was full of suspense, advendure and intrigue. There were some twists I did not see coming made me continually engaged until the end.

Rocky Mountain Promise will be getting a very well deserved five plus stars from me. I highly recommend it for fans of good clean historical romance. I am eagerly awaiting the next addition to the Sisters of the Rockies series.

I received a paperback copy of Misty M Beller’s Rocky Mountain Promise from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.

Misty M. Beller's Rocky Mountain Promise is a sweet book about learning to trust and recognizing your self-worth.

Lorelei Collins loves her sisters and animals. She would do anything to protect them. I love how quick she is to show compassion to any creature in pain. She is independent, without being overbearing. I love seeing how she shares her faith with those around her.

Tanner Mason is an honorable man. He helps out those in need and is always so chivalrous! I love seeing how he is respectful of Lorelei and how he works to make her happy!

I loved watching Lorelei and her sisters interact! Sisters are the best, and I love that this book shows sister relationships in a positive light. I love how we can see each sister's unique personality and character progression throughout the book

I thought the pacing of the book was a bit off. There should've been more consistent tension throughout the book. I also had a hard time feeling in the story and the emotions of the characters as I read.

I enjoyed getting to read Rocky Mountain Promise. Readers who enjoy clean romance, historical fiction, and love animals would like reading this book, too!

I received an Advance Reader Copy of this book. My opinions are my own. A positive review was not required.

I really enjoyed this book. Ms. Beller is a great author to get you pulled into the story. Lorelai catches a baby buffalo who just happens to be white. They are considered sacred by some natives. The story centers around how she cares for the calf and how Tanner, the trading post owner, steps in to help her. It's also a story of inspiration, especially when Tanner becomes closer to God. If you've read any of Ms. Beller's works, you don't want to miss this one. If you haven't read any, then start with this one. You won't regret it.
I did receive a copy of the book from Baker House, but this review is my own opinion.

“Her mission was to save—especially animals. She was the one who came along after the hunters and found the helpless, those not mortally wounded, or the innocent that had depended on those now lifeless.”

It’s always a treat to read another historical romance by Misty Beller. Each book just seems to get better and better. In Rocky Mountain Promise, we have Lorelei’s (the third of four Collins sisters)and Tanner’s story. The four sisters venture into the West in the 1830s, following their late father’s instructions.

Lorelei loves animals with a passion, especially helpless ones. She happens upon an orphaned baby albino buffalo and adopts him before she understands the Native American lore surrounding the white buffalo and the trouble he could bring to the ranch.

I enjoyed every minute of my time with Lorelei and Tanner. Lorelei is so sweet, such a great nurse/vet to animals or humans alike, so kind and free. ( I found the eldest sister, Rosemary, much harder to like because of her overbearing personality.) Tanner is amazing as well, so thoughtful, protective, going out of his way to help, honest, and wise as concerns both business and people.

There is so much to like about this book! The mountains will call to you as you read of the characters traveling through them. The romance is sweet and paced just right, interspersed with plenty of trouble and action. Anyone who loves animals will love Lorelei and her devotion to them. Tanner’s trading post is so well described I felt like I could have been there to receive and judge furs or shop for hard-to-obtain goods. I also loved the interactions between the cultures.

While this is definitely part of a buildable
series, I believe the book could be enjoyed as a stand-alone.

Faith is woven quietly into the novel, but that faith is strong. “I don’t know what God’s plans are for Curly. All I know is we need to take the next step before us.” I wish we all, myself included, would be that obedient to what God places before us.

Will faith lift Tanner out of the belief in his own worthlessness? Thanks to people who should have loved him and had his back, he is sure he is a failure.
“why did it seem he was always the villain, even when he tried to protect?”

I highly recommend this book. I received a copy from Celebrate Lit through NetGalley. All opinions are my own, and no positive review was required.

What a fantastic story! I was already a fan of Misty M. Beller, and this book did not disappoint! I loved the character development, and the storyline of the three sisters making a go of it in the West. I loved the personality that this author gave to Lorelei, and how she thoroughly loved animals and had the special touch to heal them...even a rare white baby buffalo. I will continue to seek books by Ms. Beller.

Thank you so much, Netgalley and Bethany House Publishers, for this wonderful opportunity to read this story In exchange for an honest review.

“Rocky Mountain Promise” by Misty M. Beller invites us to read it, with its beautiful cover, extremely unique characters, highly original storyline and a deeply realistic plot. It is set in the most rugged terrain, often too stunningly beautiful to visualize, in the hidden recesses of one’s mind. Intricately woven with the truth of God’s love, here is deeply inspiring Christian fiction infused with the splendid grandeur of the mountains, top notch historical fiction that displays God’s abundant love for people through the extraordinary twists and turns in the turbulent lives of the characters. I highly recommend this second book in the “Sisters of the Rockies” series. It is delightfully interesting to read, waxing warm on the emotions of our hearts, and will tenderly linger in our minds long after we put the book down. For the fans of Misty M. Beller’s extremely warmhearted books, here is yet one more to add to your own private collection, to be read at your leisure, and treasured forever.

This is the second book in the Sisters of the Rockies series. We made only a tiny bit of headway on the mystery woman they are searching for, but we got to journey into a beautifully developed narrative where both Lorelei and Tanner discover their worth.

You could probably figure out the context without reading book one, Rocky Mountain Rendezvous, but I’d recommend you start at the beginning and get to know the sisters and their context. I’m enjoying this series and look forward to the next installment.

“Treasure is found in ashes.”

I bonded with the Collins sisters in book one, so I’ve been eager to spend more time with them and greatly looked forward to book two – Rocky Mountain Promise. Beller’s writing voice is warm and engaging, and she is particularly skilled at making the Rocky Mountains setting – as well as the characters – come alive on the page. Let me tell you, I devoured this story! It read super quickly for me, and I enjoyed every minute of Lorelei’s story from the instant she rescues the adorable Curly to the sweet epilogue at the end.

Lorelei has a tender heart toward animals, particularly those in need of rescue and/or healing, which is how she finds herself raising an orphaned white buffalo calf and fielding the many curious people who come to see the rare creature that is the stuff of legends. Enter Tanner Mason, the owner of a new trading post nearby, who quickly develops a growing affection for Lorelei that battles with his feelings of inferiority. I loved getting to know Lorelei better in this book, and I thought Tanner’s character was the perfect match for her. And vice versa.

Of course, there will be obstacles in their path that need to be overcome before a happily-ever-after can begin (or it would be a very short story indeed) but there’s no denying the chemistry between Tanner & Lorelei or how they support each other’s weaknesses with their own individual strengths. Specifically, I thought the spiritual journey that Lorelei walks with Tanner was meaningful and touching. The subplots involving Curly, Juniper, and White Horse, as well as Tanner’s challenges with the trading post, added several layers that gave this historical romance more depth and dimension. There are some threads that I feel will continue into the next book, and I’m really looking forward to a possible romance between Rosemary and White Horse – not to mention still wanting to find his mother!

Bottom Line: Rocky Mountain Promise by Misty M. Beller is an adventure-filled trip out west with strong characters (women included!) who knew how to survive in conditions that would send most of us running back to our cherished amenities. Lorelei’s valiant spirit co-exists with her tender heart, both serving her – and Tanner – quite well in this story, and I loved watching these two grow from strangers to friends to more. Usually I’m gushing over the hero’s protectiveness, and Tanner definitely delivers some swoony moments on behalf of Lorelei’s safety, but I absolutely adored how Beller flips the script in this one – in more than one way. I could, in fact, talk about this at length, but I’ll let you discover it for yourself. Another charming and absorbing read from this author!

This book was an awesome adventure that will take you back to the days of the Indians and trappers who lived in the mountains.
My favorite part was the story of the White Buffalo which was very rare in those days
My least favorite person was Rosie the oldest sister. I really didn't care much for her but at the same time I get it. She is who keeps the family together but I feel that she was wrong on a couple of accounts however.
I didn't want this beautiful novel to end but I feel confident that there will be another one in the future and I can't wait to read it.
I'm enjoying this series very much. It may be my favorite by Beller yet.
The stellar writing with believable characters is awesome.
Along with the description of scenery? Why yes of course!
I finished this novel in one afternoon. It is fast paced and does flow smoothly.
I also appreciate that there are messages of faith that are scattered throughout the book and that Lorelei seeks answers from God before she does anything.
I wish more people would do that. It'd make life so much more easier if we'd wait on the Lord instead of just barging ahead of our own accord.
Tanner holds a special place in my heart for the things he went through from before he came West.
This was just a very enjoyable book.
5 star for an awesome adventure. I highly recommend it.
My thanks for a copy of this book. I was NOT required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.

What a wonderful and entertaining novel! I have to admit that I have not previously read this author, and I didn't realize this was part of a series. I'm so glad to have discovered Misty Beller, who is extremely talented. From page one she really brings the reader into the story world. Fans of frontier stories with a Christian message will love this book. Of course, I feel in love with the white buffalo calf! The sisters are full of grit and determination - very inspiring. Tanner's chapters are a little slow at first b/c they deal with the logistics of the trading post, but I loved seeing how the story developed, especially as the calf begins to bring unwanted attention. I will look forward to going back and reading the first book in this series and will eagerly await the next entry.
