My teenage son is an aspiring chef and has watched every Babish video on YouTube. We also have his other cookbook.

His humor is wholly present on every page. Too much humor? Maybe. But what sets this cookbook apart, and the thing I love about it, is how he prefaces each recipe by talking about how he has personally messed up in the making of it and addresses common issues you might face while making the dishes and how to counteract them. He talks about how important it is to make mistakes when you're learning how to cook so you learn best what to do and not to do, comparing dishes he made when he just started out to how much better he is at making them now. The mishaps are the best learning experience. For my teenage chef, this is just the lesson that he has been needing to learn! I love to see it. He also goes well into depth about the basics - ingredients, techniques, equipment, things that you would find yourself skimming in most other books, we found ourselves interested in his very practical and insightful take on them, again dripping with his trademark humor.

We really enjoyed reading this cookbook together. We can't wait to purchase it for our collection!

Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC!

As usual, a fantastic cookbook from Babish! I love watching his youtube channel and his book is no different. Great photography, recipes, and humor.

It's an absolute game changer that Andrew Rea decided to add fixes for common mistakes to each recipe. I love this and I wish more books did this. The photography is great and the recipes - while I haven't attempted any yet - are awesome, but it is the "here's what I learned the hard way" and "what to do if ____ came out wrong" that really sets this book apart.
