Thank you to NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for an honest review!

I absolutely loved the premise of this book. The storyline hooked me right away, and I wanted to know how things would play out. That said, I really struggled to connect with or believe in the MFC, June Farrow. June was abandoned as a baby and raised by her grandmother, with little to no other family or friends. She never knew her mother or father and discussions about them were entirely avoided throughout her life. The author set up the main character to be so dynamic and interesting, yet she seemed to lack depth and her actions/dialogue did not feel fitting of someone who experienced significant childhood abandonment/trauma. I really wanted to like her, but ultimately found her dialogue (internal & external) a bit hokey and predictable. I wanted more relationship development with certain characters, and was annoyed by the forced nature of other relationships. There were also some loose ends/conflicting details that never seem to quite work themselves out or get explained.

Overall, I felt like this story had a lot of potential! Despite my frustrations with the MFC and some of the developments throughout the story, I still wanted to know how things would play out and had a few fun "ahhh" moments.

I enjoyed the mystery following the Farrow women. Adrienne Young is an excellent writer. I expected nothing less from her. A more in depth review will be coming after I recover from surgery.
Thank you Netgalley for allowing me to read and review this book!

I usually struggle to start a review...
However,
This book was so beautiful in so many ways. I will remember it forever. It is the best book of the year for me hands down! While i struggle to start reviews, I also have such a hard time starting a book. This story had me hooked from the first few words. it could have lasted forever for me. If the book had been 700 pages, I would have read every work graciously. The love between June and Eamon is a love that is realistic and possible in such a strange world. I appreciate that. It's something that we can all aim for. Overall, so that I don't give spoilers. This book was amazing and I will definitely be reading it again and again.

Thank you, Delacorte Press and NetGalley, for this e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

I'll start by saying I'm a big fan of Adrienne Young as a person. I'm a part of the Writing with the Soul community that she started, and I so appreciate her generosity toward new writers. I also find her publishing career very inspiring and love how she's branching out between YA and Adult categories.

That said, I haven't always loved her books. I wasn't a huge fan of her first two titles. I enjoyed the Fable series, though, and I liked Spells for Forgetting. It's a mixed bag for me, so I had no idea whether or not I would like this book.

I'm happy to report that I loved it! I read it in a day and had a great reading experience. Once again, Adrienne nails the atmosphere of a place. I've lived in the Blue Ridge Mountains for years, so the descriptions felt very familiar to me, but I think even if you aren't from these parts, you will feel transported by this book.

I don't want to give too much away. I went into this knowing very little about the plot, and I liked it that way. I will say that I loved the characters. June Farrow is in her thirties and it was nice to see a slightly older heroine wrestling with life. The central mystery is compelling and had me turning pages quickly to see how all of the threads connected. I really enjoyed this one and look forward to more from Adrienne Young!

The Unmaking of June Farrow by Adrienne Young is a wonderous blend of mystery, magical realism, and romance, and it also is a story that I don’t want to say too much about, or else I might spoil someone’s reading experience. And it is just that - an experience. One that you don’t want to miss.

The writing is positively beautiful, with a lot of vivid descriptions. It has a sort of dream-like quality - a mystical element that fits the setting. The NC mountains and the people who live on them are a unique and creative community that embraces the mystical world and everything it holds.

June Farrow is a very intriguing character. One that I enjoyed getting to know. Her journey was so uniquely her own that I couldn’t help but marvel at it with every turn of the page. Her story is like a work of art - one I just wanted to stand back and admire for long periods and will remember for a long time.

The Unmaking of June Farrow is comparable to Spells for Forgetting, and in being so - if you loved Spells for Forgetting, you’ll likely love this book, as I did.

4.25 stars. I initially had no interest in this book, but lately I’ve had trouble focusing on reading so I decided to read a couple chapters of the ARC I was provided by Netgalley. Well “a couple chapters” turned into me reading this nonstop for two days until I finished. I was hooked, and I couldn’t wait to keep reading and see how it all unfolded. I think it’s a book you should probably go into blind, too. I honestly expected this to be a 3 star read maybe, but at one point it was on track for 5 stars. It didn’t quite get there in the end, but 4.25 isn’t too shabby and I’m so glad I decided to give it a shot.

There seems to be a curse associated with the Farrow women and June knows it is just a matter of time before she falls to that same fate. But she still isn't ready when she starts to have what appear to be hallucinations. Then she receives a photo in the mail, but the strange part is it was mailed to her by the grandmother that she just buried. She begins to dig into her family's history to find out what this means and if this might lead to the truth of the Farrow curse.

This is book is my favorite of Adrienne Young's so far!! I enjoyed Spells for Forgetting, but this one, wow! I loved the setting! I love anything set in my home state and having visited the Blue Ridge Mountains many times in my life, I can see the town of Jasper in many of the towns I have visited or passed through. I really didn't see a couple of the twists that took place in this book. I admit, at times I was worried about how it would end up having been rooting for certain characters and situations. But there was great resolution, and I definitely am happy with how things ended!

Thank you to NetGalley and Delacorte Press for this digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Wow, I truly didn’t know what to expect going into this book but it was so incredibly well written and I was sucked in from the start. It has the mystery, fantasy, and romance of my dreams. June Farrow is a complicated woman who I couldn’t figure out at first but when everything unraveled I truly fell in love with her. Eamon is an amazing husband, father, and support system. Jasper, NC sounds like such a beautiful place and I would die to visit the Farrow family’s flower farm.

This was my first book by @adrienneyoungbooks and I cannot wait to read more books by her. Her writing was poetic and I just couldn’t put it down. My only complaint is that I didn’t want it to end. I wish I got to know more of June, Eamon, and Annie’s stories after the last sentence.

This book was so good! It’s time travel, romance and mystery all wrapped up in one. This is my second book by this author and it’s another page turner. Definitely recommend! Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the early copy

I'm not sure I fully understand this book - but I loved it!

The time travel part is a bit confusing, but it's so interesting and will totally keep you engaged in reading this story. It's so well written and cleverly crafted. The characters are developed and interesting. The setting was great - kind of spooky and homey at the same time. It's just such a cool concept and I just really enjoyed reading this one!

Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for a temporary, digital ARC in return for my review.

We were the limbs of a broken tree with poisoned roots.

June Farrow is determined to be the last Farrow. All Farrows eventually lose their minds, and she cannot bear to bring another into existence. Deep down, however, she longs for love and family even as her own mind begins to break.

I really enjoyed this novel. It was different from a lot of the other books that I’ve been reading. There’s a fantasy aspect, but it also has family drama and a mystery at its core. As you read, you find out how it connects to the main character. I don’t want to give away too much, but it was well done even if I wasn’t shocked by the reveal.

The atmosphere that Young creates with her descriptions makes you feel like you are there. Loved how she tied it all up in the end. Beautifully done! Again, I don’t want to give anything away.

I do have some mixed feeling about Eamon as a love interest. I think he just seemed angry most of the time so it took some time for me to buy in. The rest of the story is compelling enough that I still thoroughly enjoyed it. If I was primarily reading for the romance, I might have been a bit disappointed.

I had previously read Sky in the Deep, and wasn’t impressed with it. Young is a talented writer, and I’m glad I gave her another chance.

Thank-you Adrienne Young, Delecorte Press, and Netgalley for this arc! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A mind bending murder mystery with a lovely dose of love story. I don't want to describe this story too much as I don't want to give anything away.

I've really enjoyed Young's venture into adult lit but I think her YA is outstanding!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

Adrienne Young has become a go-to author when I’m in the mood for a cozy fantasy with immersive imagery and a bit of romance. The Unmaking of June Farrow is all that with a side of small town politics, a mysterious disappearance to be solved and a family curse!

This is definitely one of those books where I would encourage the reader to go in blind to more fully enjoy the experience. But I will say this much, The Farrow women are cursed! June Farrow was left to be raised by her grandmother who works their family flower farm in Jasper, North Carolina. Years ago, June’s mother Susanna was seen walking into the forest, never be seen again. Her mother’s unexplained disappearance is still the talk of the town. The town’s people all speculate that she went mad, just like all the other Farrow women as far back as they can remember.

The Unmaking of June Farrow Is the perfect Fall read with enough mystery and intrigue to fit your October mood! Bonus if you love a book set in the mountains of North Carolina!

My genuine thanks to the author @adrienneyoungbooks, @NetGalley and @DelacortePress for the gift of an advance digital copy in return for an honest review.

June Farrow has spent her life knowing that all of the Farrow women will eventually fall to the same mental illness. What she hasn't told anyone is that it has already started for her.

Wow! Young is one of my top authors now. I ate up Spells for Forgetting last year and went into this one expecting greatness, and that is what I got. This book is so well laid out with characters that you feel for immediately. This book bridges magical realism, fantasy, mystery, and romance so skillfully. And it really is all of those genres. As with Spells, this book has a magical quality to the prose that makes it feel otherworldly as you read.

I don't want to give too much away because this is one of those books you should go into blind. Don't let anyone spoil it for you! Just be prepared for a magical ride.

Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the gifted copy. My reviews are always honest.

I was totally entranced by this book! I loved every part of it! It is a story following the life of June Farrow. The Farrow women all have a curse where they lose their mind. June is dealing with the death of her grandmother when she begins to show signs of this madness. This story shows you that love will conquer all! This was such a sweet mystery that will have you asking so many different questions! I could picture the small town of Jasper, NC in the past and present! I just cannot say enough about how much I just loved this book!! Also it’s a BOTM!! I highly recommend it!!

Read this book if you love witchy vibes, small town atmosphere, a true love story, time traveling and a mystery that will have you turning those pages!

Adrienne Young’s writing is truly fantastic. I haven’t read a book of hers I didn’t adore! I really don’t want to say too much because I don’t want to give anything away but I have never read anything like this.

This book is nothing like what I expected; there is so much more fantasy and wonder and complexity. I love the way Adrienne Young blends magical realism with mystery. Everything was so unpredictable and the story as a whole was so unique.

The vibes are immaculate. It’s seriously the perfect read for this time of year. I really recommend this as a cosy, autumnal read as we begin to leave the spooky season behind.

I Instantly fell in love again! I mean I love Adrienne’s work and knew this wasn’t going to be short of amazing, so I instantly fell in and was hooked. The imagery and imagination that comes from this author just has me hooked from the get-go.

The Farrow women are cursed… or to be exact they are claimed by a madness of seeing and hearing things. June Farrows mother left as a baby to be raised by her grandmother and work their thriving flower farm. On the day of her grandmothers funeral, she sees a mysterious figure of a man. She knows the family curse is happening to her; the curse she hopes no one notices so she isn’t considered mad herself. But she soon discovers clues that could lead her to her mother and her disappearance. But the more she digs the more she can’t tell what’s real or part of her imagination. All June knows is that the curse has to end with her.

Take Practical Magic meets The Witching hour and I felt I’ve read a whole new take on magic that courses through oneself. This story has time travel, that fun red door we shy away from in our dreams, and a mix of sci-fi and fantasy. The characters and the depth just make it that much more.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Adrienne’s Fable, but this might be my favorite of hers yet. You have so many things mixed into such imagery and imagination. My heart felt for the Farrow women and the depth of family and relationships. I think I like her take on the mystery aspect as well. It definitely was a fresh voice.

As I stated before, this book was hard to put down once it was opened. From page one you’re immersed into June’s world and it didn’t disappoint! Perfect for the little magic we have in all of us!!!

4.5 ⭐️ stars!
The Unmaking of June Farrow was completely a whole new world of its own and I am here, captivated, easily attached and enjoying every second of every page!

A story of revenge, of family secrets and of trust. A tale of a magical time changing fantasy of Farrow women over the years. A mother’s love and married couple’s commitment that crosses timelines. This book was unpredictable, unique, unbelievably stunning that grip my emotions all the way through! The characters, specially June- were so easy to love and to root for. The conflicts were at the right blend and the ending was sweet!

I am loving Adrienne Young, its my third read of her work and I can’t wait to explore this author more. Special thank you to Adrienne Young, Random House/ Delacorte Press via Netgalley for both advance e-copy and audio book to review. Brittaney Pressley is one among the best narrators in the audiobook world and she was the perfect voice to give June life! This was a perfect read for October.

This is not just a story of a very peculiar family of women, this is four generations of women's sacrifices as mothers, home makers and caregivers. This is the ties that truly bind and the connections we make in our own little worlds and our seasons of change. A unique and yet relatable story of accepting your choices and working through your seasons. I laughed and cried and it made me ache to hug my mother and grandmother. I can't stop thinking about this book. It was fun, fantastical and truly emotional. Add to that the fact that June finds true and honest love that supports her in the midst of her "losing herself". The comeback was epic and this was in my opinion a story that needed to be told and needs to be read.

Thank you to NetGalley and Random House Publishing for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
