Trading Places was a fun and interesting read. The premise is fun and unique to what I often see in contemporary romance.

I liked the premise, and the character development of the FMC. I like the added element with Cece and the themes of friendship and family throughout the book.

I didn’t love the MMC development, and though the relationship develops it felt clunky. Of course I love where the story ends, but how we got there didn’t feel very smooth.

Would definitely recommend as a quick, fun read!

When will I learn that time warp books are just not my thing? The execution never feels right to me and ultimately I felt like I just couldn’t get invested.

Trading Places by Emily Duvall is a charming, laugh-out-loud romantic comedy that takes the concept of "walking a mile in someone else's shoes" to a whole new level. When Lexi North, a stereotypical rich girl with a knack for spending her father's money, and Evan Bailey, a hardworking, blue-collar guy, are forced to swap lives after a viral altercation, chaos and hilarity ensue.

The setup is delightful: Evan gets to experience a life of luxury, while Lexi takes on Evan’s grueling lifestyle, complete with the challenge of parenting his spirited niece, Cece. Their begrudging partnership turns into something unexpectedly transformative as they navigate awkward challenges, heated arguments, and moments of self-discovery.
Duvall’s writing is sharp, witty, and heartfelt. The humor is perfectly balanced with emotional depth, and the characters' growth feels genuine and satisfying. Lexi evolves from a spoiled socialite into someone capable of real empathy, while Evan learns to see beyond his initial judgments. The romance between the two is beautifully developed, full of banter, tension, and undeniable chemistry.

Cece is a standout secondary character, with her mischievous charm and clever matchmaking adding layers of warmth and humor to the story. The plot deftly explores themes of privilege, hard work, and the power of stepping out of your comfort zone, all while keeping readers entertained with its delightful mix of humor, romance, and spice.

Trading Places is a feel-good romcom packed with laughable antics, heartfelt moments, and a satisfying happily-ever-after. If you enjoy stories with quirky premises, lovable characters, and transformative journeys, this book is a must-read!

Trading Places by Emily Duvall is an absolute blast from start to finish! I picked this book up expecting a fun opposites-attract romance, and it delivered that and so much more. Right from the beginning, Lexi North hooked me. She’s this glamorous socialite with a seemingly perfect life, but beneath the surface, you get a sense that things aren’t as flawless as her image. When Lexi’s wild night leads her to rear-end Evan Bailey’s car—right in front of a whole crowd—it’s a collision of two completely different worlds that you just know is going to be entertaining.

One of the best parts of Trading Places is how Emily Duvall takes this premise and infuses it with real heart and humor. The chemistry between Lexi and Evan is undeniable, sparking from that first chaotic encounter and only building as they start to see each other in new ways. Watching Lexi step into Evan’s shoes (and work boots) gave me a whole new appreciation for her character. She might be high-maintenance, but she’s resilient in a way I didn’t expect. And Evan, who comes off so gruff at first, has his own hidden vulnerabilities that made me root for him just as much as Lexi.

If you’re into romances where the characters challenge each other to grow, where opposites truly attract, and where every chapter is packed with laugh-out-loud moments and genuine feels, Trading Places is the book to pick up. Emily Duvall gives us a romance that’s not only sizzling and fun but also a reminder that sometimes stepping into someone else’s life might be exactly what we need to find out who we are.

Oh, I love this book. It was hilarious and it was well developed. I love how the female social I had to kind of be the popper in the book. And I enjoyed how the main guy in the book had to fake it in a land of richer upper class people. The romance was also well done, and I enjoyed the push and pull between the two. I also found that it was hilarious, an awkward and all the best things in a romcom romance.

Such a fun read! Definitely an outrageous Disney style rom-com. Overall wasn"t a fan of Lexi, but still would recommend. Thank you for the ARC opportunity!

This was a sweet book! I think overall the story could use some refining. The tropes are very obvious and the solutions transparent.

Lexi is a socialite who believes in only the best for her and who makes sure that everyone knows it. Evan is a mechanic and the very definition of a blue collar hero who has taken on the responsibility of raising his young and very opinionated niece. While Lexi is the definition of mani-pedi perfection, Evan is the definition of get your hands dirty and put your boots on tenacity. When Lexi rear ends Evan, it sets into motion a chain of events and a bet that each can't live and thrive in the other's world. But, in true Rom Com fashion, what neither expects is the chemistry that quickly develops and explodes between them, and the reality that they are perfectly suited for each other. This was a well written, banter filled, and beautifully spiced story that had me laughing and recalling some of the best Hollywood Rom Coms of the 40s because this could easily be the plot of an MGM Classic starring William Powell and Myrna Loy or Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert. If you liked The Thin Man Movies or It Happened One Night this would be a great choice for your next read!

I volunteered to read this book from Net galley and Entangled Pub.

this book was a little embarrassing to read at the start due to the fact that Lexi was really annoying, but I understood that it was in the name of change. I did feel the changes in both of them seemed to happen a little quickly, and the ending was a bit rushed, but I did really enjoy reading this book WAY more than I thought I would.

Lexi North is the stereotypical rich girl who lives off daddy’s money and has a good timing spending it too. Evan Bailey is just a normal blue collared type of guy. After Lexi quite literally crashes into Evan, she had no idea how one bad moment would change her entire life. Evan and Lexi and like oil and vinegar, they just don’t work together and they apparently love to argue with one another too. Evan’s niece, Cece, thought it would be a good idea to not only film their little scuffle but then she posted it for all the world to see. And then Cece comes up with a bet, that they swap lives… and they agreed to it?! Evan gets to live a life of luxury for 2 months, Lexi gets to live and work like Evan and single parent Cece. And Lexi’s father said that if she didn’t follow through with the bet, he would cut her off forever. What transpired from here is hilarious and totally worth the read. Lots of laughter, love, spice and transformations are ahead.

REVIEW: Trading Places by Emily Duvall ⭐⭐⭐⭐

If you love good enemies to love contemporary romance books, Trading Places is definitely the one for you.

Lexi North is used to a lot of money, privilege, and getting what she wants. She runs into Evan Bailey and they butt heads immediately. Evan’s sister decides to live stream it which only causes more drama. So Lexi and Evan decide to make a bet to switch lives for two months, but is there more between them besides dislike for one another?

Trading Places is a rom-com twist on the story of the prince and the pauper but this time with a socialite and a car mechanic. There was lots of playful banter between Lexi and Evan and we even got a bit steamy at times. The chemistry between them was great. Trading Places shows that we sometimes can discover ourselves where we least expected it.

Overall Trading Place a fun, short, and sweet read. At times it felt a bit rushed, but I did really enjoy the ride along the way.

This was a cute spin on a tale we have seen before.

This was a cute rom-com. Princess needs to get her hands dirty. Mechanic also needs to have a reality check. The tension is swoon worthy for sure. There were parts for me where I wasn’t like omg this is amazing but at the end it was a cute romance with a side of comedy. It was easy to read and I finished it pretty quickly. This book is perfect for mood readers looking to pick up a rom-com to palette cleanse.

I must admit to being a sucker for this trope. When I started this book, I did not go in with any expectations about the level of engagement I would have with the characters. I was pleasantly surprised to see how much I hoped Lexi's turning point would make its appearance.
Lexi is a spoiled rich girl who makes one too many mistakes, and her father gives her an ultimatum. One that is jeopardized by a fight that is shown live online. Her opponent is a struggling parent to his niece, who also wants to save his business. They decide to switch places for a while, and the bet has something for either party if they fail to keep their place for the required time.
Evan is rightly worried about how his niece will take the switch and if she would ever be willing to live their kind of simple life again. It was these little bits that endeared the plot to me.
Evan and Lexi work to make their romance seem sustainable. Lexi is lost and very flighty when things begin. It is only when she knuckles down that things start to change. There are some things either side does not give up when the story comes to a close, also another thing that I was glad was addressed.
It is a nice story with a predictable plotline, but it is done well. It felt like watching one of those movies one watches when in the mood for a quick mood boost. I would recommend it to fans of the genre.
I received an ARC thanks to NetGalley and the publishers but the review is entirely based on my own reading experience.

Looking for a fast paced romcom? One that looks into what it’s like to live on the other side of the tracks? Then this may be the book for you. The banter between Lexie and Evan is laugh at loud. There’s moments of genuine sadness and times where you want to shake the heck outta multiple characters. The miss communications were definitely frustrating at times tho and the egos wild in moments. I wish there would have been more depth in this story and honestly would have loved to explore got the relationship with Lexies father progresses but maybe there’s another book coming? Overall I think this was a cute read the banter was hilarious and it appeals to readers who are looking for a quick rom com for sure, although it’s not exactly my reading niche it kept my attention and was enjoyable.

This book was so much fun to read! I loved idea of a rich heiress and mechanic who’s taking care of his niece switching places. Lexi and Evan’s relationship obviously started in a bad place, but as the book went on and Evan started teaching Lexi to do normal everyday things, the romance definitely ramped up. I really enjoyed seeing Lexi go from a rich spoiled heiress to someone who actually appreciates hard work. I will say that Evan got worse the longer he lived Lexi’s life, but I think that’s because he was trying to be someone that he wasn’t. Evan could definitely be bossy and gruff at times, but I honestly thought that was really attractive so it worked for him. I also really enjoyed the side plot with Evan’s niece and I thought it added a nice touch to the book. Overall this was a cute romance and a really fun read, it’s definitely perfect for summer. I would probably rate it a 4.5, but I’m rounding up to 5 stars because I did really enjoy it.

An absolutely swoon worthy enemies to lovers, slow burn, dual pov romance. We follow a spoiled heiress and a mechanic who, after making a bet, must trade lives. I loved this comedic but surprisingly deep approach to a sweet romance of a hardworking man that has family as a priority, and a young selfish socialite who has a need to learn. I loved the growth and character arc that the fmc underwent as necessary as it was it was pleasant to see the way she approached growth and change. I went from annoyed to rooting for her rather quickly.
