Lexi is heiress, socialite who enjoys living the posh life people can only imagine. Evan a regular guy who works in his brother's Body Shop as a Mechanic.
A chance encounter made Lexi and Evan's lives collide like a meteor..When Evan's niece challenges the two to trade places for 2 months things got interesting.
This was a classic Riches to Rags story. Lexi started out insufferable until she learned that happiness isn't found in Trust Funds and Day Spas. Evan was able to live a life he never dreamed of. Allowing him and his 12 old niece to live as socialites.
Both Lexi and Evan faced multiple challenges in their new roles but once they got over hating one another and actually started helping one another adjust they eventually had a chance to learn each other beyond a superficial level.
This was an ok story. The concept was cute but it just seemed too long and by the Lexi did a complete 180 after 2 months of slumming it.
If you're looking for a Slow Burn, Enemies to Lovers RomCom with minimum spice this maybe the story for you.

I’m sorry but I don’t think this is the book for me. I thought that I might enjoy this book but found the main character infuriatingly self-centered. I understand this is part of the point but it was a little too much.

Trading Places is a twist on the Prince and the Pauper in which Lexi, a materialistic heiress makes a bet to change places with Evan, an everyman mechanic. Lexi deals with ordinary life as Evan gets to enjoy being pampered by a luxurious lifestyle. Amid copious banter, they both learn a little and fall in love along the way.
I really enjoyed this book. The plot was fun and watching Lexi turn into a human versus a caricature was enjoyable. Lexi starts the book completely insufferable but her growth and reflection made me a big fan. I even teared up during a speech of hers near the end. Evan was fine. My opinion of him was very much a rollercoaster ride. He started out a little too rude (even though, like I said, Lexi was insufferable), got much better, nose dived and then evened out to “fine.”
I do hope this goes through one more edit before being published - there were a couple of grammatical errors and a few scenes I had to reread because it felt like a sentence was missing (right before their first time, especially.) I noticed a couple clunky/outdated dialogue items as well. Overall though, it didn’t wreck my enjoyment of the fun story.

Lexi North is known for two things – her father’s wealth and her ability to spend it. Sure, she likes to party and mess around, but who can blame a girl for wanting to have fun? When she bumps into Evan Bailey, her night of bad choices gets so much worse. He’s infuriating and the two instantly clash heads. Their heated dispute becomes a lot more public after Evan’s niece decides to livestream it… and then she proclaims a bet - for Lexi, the socialite party girl and Evan, the grumpy mechanic, to swap lives.
Overall, the premise of this book was fun and quirky. I liked the light-hearted tone of the story and thought it was written well. A few elements were rather surface-level and the whole ‘bet’ situation was introduced in a way that felt jarring. It did pick up after this though and I found myself enjoying each character's experience in the other's life. I wasn’t 100% sold on the romance at the start, there just didn't seem to be that much chemistry, but I did warm up to it over time (I think because it was more focused on the bet rather than the romance at first? Which is perfectly fine). Whilst it didn't take away from my enjoyment, most relationships outside of the main one were kind of shallow, I do wish these were developed better (I especially wanted to see Lexi’s relationship with the workers at the auto shop, there was so much potential for her to grow and befriend the people there). At the end of the book there was tension and a few characters were acting childish, personally, I struggled to look past this and wasn’t able to really forgive said characters. Regardless, this was still a lot of fun. Duvall’s writing style was easy to read and get lost in and there were a lot of amusing moments sprinkled throughout.

3 Stars It was a little hard to get into this book at first because I wasn't a fan of the FMC, Lexi, though I did like the MMC, Evan, especially seeing him as a single parent to his niece. But as we got more insight into who Lexi is and her insecurities, she became more relatable and likeable. Overall, I liked the growth of both MCs and the romance between the two of them.

Thank you NetGalley, Entangled Publishing LLC, and the author for the opportunity to read and review this book.
We start with getting to know a rich socialite, Lexi, falling off of her high status and ending up agreeing to a bet to swap places with a mechanic, Evan - basically they got to live each other's lives for the bet.
While Lexi comes off as a spoilt rich socialite, we get to know her better as the story progresses and realize she's a good person but the cards life has dealt her with, no matter how they seem on the outside, are not easy to deal with. Her personal issues and insecurities bring a realistic feel to the character.
Evan is a single parent for his niece. He works hard as a mechanic to make ends meet for his family. I really liked his relationship with his niece and how protective he was of her.
I enjoyed the banter between the main characters. However, the pace of their relationship was a bit too fast for me. But it was fun to read. Overall, a lighthearted and enjoyable romcom read!
This is one of those books that make you realize there's always more to the story than what meets the eye.

ARC provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I had a little trouble getting into this book at first because the FMC, Lexi, was pretty annoying. Although, I did love Evan, the MMC. I liked seeing the changes and acceptances between the two. Seeing the growth between the two was awesome, which let me actually like Lexi. It was a good book that had you laughing, and excited to see the romance come to life.
Overall, I liked the book, I definitely recommend reading it!
I am super grateful to have the chance to get this ARC, and be able to read/review it.

I tried so hard to get into this book but it was honestly difficult because both characters were very unlikable and don't really get redeemed throughout the book. The side plots were not well explored. I didn't even like the writing style.

When I first started this, I was unsure of how the author was ever going to get me to like Lexi, a spoiled rich socialite with no regard for anyone but herself. I appreciated that the events that led her to acting the way that she does and insight into her younger years were not all disclosed in one sitting. I enjoyed getting to see Evan have a few lightbulb moments while he was helping her.
In the same way, Evan at the beginning of the book, while frustrating, was so different from Lexi and resistant to change, that I was wondering how the author was going to portray him throughout the switch and I think what she does fit perfectly with his personality.
While I do think the characters' changes happened quickly, I don't think adding more content would have made this book better - just longer. Overall another great romcom to add to my list for August and recommend to those I know will enjoy this story!

enjoyed this book, it is a rom com about a spoiled heiress who has to trade places with a working class blue collar mechanic for 2 months.. let the hilarity ensue..
The story started kind of rough for me, as the heiress Lexi was written really well.. vapid.. spoiled.. and generally clueless, however, I believe this was on purpose and her redemption was great!!
I tend to lean towards darker fantasy realm books, but this is a great palette cleanser between. I did laugh out loud, and I ended up falling in love with the story and the characters. I enjoy a little more sarcasm and sass from the character banter, but this was a solid well told story, with definite potential.
If you are looking for a quick,, fun read.. this one will definitely get you there

How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days meets the Freaky Friday Trope when a spoiled heiress and socialite decides to trade places with blue collar mechanic Evan Bailey in this hilarious adult rom-com inspired by the cliches of the early-2000s.
I gave this a 3.5-star rating because I simply found this trope to be so generic. I’ve read hundreds of spoiled rich girl x poor boy tropes as a teenager and the drama is always rooted in the similar conflicts so at this point it’s the least of my favorites. However, this was still an enjoyable and quick read because at one point I’m just giggling at Lexi and Evan with Kiss Me by Sixpence None the Richer in the background. Overall, I simply couldn’t take it seriously especially with the amount of Gen Z slang and the heavy influence of social media throughout the book because it was like watching He’s All That on Netflix all over again and it really put off my reading experience Cliches are not bad and their repetitive appearance in literature is sometimes the only good thing in this world. I’m not a huge romance reader and I enjoy it only occasionally, but I simply didn’t connect with the characters. Arguably, I would’ve enjoyed this if I were younger, and I would still recommend this book.

This was a fun plot twist on trading lives. I really enjoyed that even though they each traded homes and employment that they still saw one another often.
Initially I was quite bothered by Lexi and her socialite way. This was entirely intentional because I grew to truly care about her and her success!
Evan was meh for me to be honest.
Overall, I liked this read. It was.
fast paced and fun. Thank you Entangled for the chance to read a reviewers copy!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
What a rollercoaster, but a good one. This book I could not put down.

Trading Places sounded right up my alley. A snobby socialite who has to swap lives with a down on his luck Sadly, this one just didn't do it for me. The juvenile type personalities of both the female and male main character grated a bit for me which made it hard to connect to them. As a mood reader, without connection to the characters, I start to lose interest in the book quickly.
Additionally, the writing was not my favorite. The dialogue felt stilted, more like something someone would write rather than how two people would actually talk. The writing itself felt choppy and the plot was too predictable, which I don't usually mind in romance books. However, combined with the hard to connect to main characters and lack of depth in the actual story, I lost interest in the book very quickly.
All in all, I think that while the premise of Trading Places was very promising, but the execution didn't personally work for me.

This is my first book from this author and I found it very enjoyable. Such a cute life swap storyline of an heiress and mechanic who is raising his niece. I enjoyed the instant tension, dislike, angst and banter. I wasn’t convinced I would like Lexi or that she would willingly choose to swap lives. However I enjoyed that there were reasons for her to continue and she had major growth. There were some parts of the story that moved quicker than I would have liked. But still enjoyed the comedy and sweet sides of the characters.
I received an ARC copy of this book and am leaving an honest review.

Thanks to Entangled and the author for the Arc.
This one fell a bit flat for me. I don’t mind a predictable rom com, in fact I love them. But I need a little something to keep my interest, like character development or an interesting plot device or extra great banter. I didn’t get that here so it just wasn’t that enjoyable of a read. Formulaic, a bit too silly but not in a fun way, little to no character development, and therefore boring.

I felt like this book was very generic and predictable. Lexi and Evan switch places after a bet is made between the two of them. Lexi is a socialite and Evan is a mechanic and as they switch places they start to enjoy their new lives. Lexi starts to learn more about how she is aware of what everyday life is like for those who are living paycheck to paycheck. Evan starts to enjoy life as an influencer and the money it comes with. There is some character growth, but if I am being honest it is very surface-level and pretty generic in terms of the development. The book has some steam and the romance is pretty good. Overall, 3.5/5 stars for this book due to nothing standing out (I did round up to 4 on Goodreads due to the ending being wholesome and cheesy).
Thank you Netgalley, Emily Duvall, and Entangled Publishing, LLC for a free eARC in exchange for an honest review. I do look forward to more of Emily's books in the future as it was a nice easy read.

I have enjoyed the book at first half but toward the second it started losing my interest. It can still be an enjoyable book but I lost the point of it. What is the point of this books? Too much time was spent on describing this lavish spending and trips, make-overs (instead of developing the growth of characters). Do the reader really care for it?
Also Evan seemed to be as an interesting guy at first but then his spending habits became completely unexpected. He knew that this arrangement was temporary and did he expect to keep all his purchases and living style afterwards? Also planning a surprise trip to Vegas or gifts to other wealthy people is impossible when you deal with extra rich. She has probably been to Vegas million times and her friends had all those gifts. Someone who is that poor would not have enough imagination to top it. It is impossible to surprise wealthy people when they already have everything and have done everything imaginable by regular people.
My main problem is that such a relationship would never work. So what is the point of this book?

I was really excited for this, but unfortunately it didn’t work for me. There were parts I enjoyed, of course! It was good, but the character growth wasn’t enough for me. I was so fed up with Evan and Lexi by the end that I didn’t care about the resolution.

At the beginning of this book I really disliked Lexi and wasn't sure if I would be able to get through the full book, but I loved how she grew and evolved as the story developed. I was bought in around 30% of the way through and couldn't put it down. It was an easy read and I finished the book in a little over 24 hours. Probably my favorite part about Lexi is how she had layers to peel back and once you got down to her core and through her walls, she was a caring and complex person discovering exactly what she wanted and needed and wasn't afraid to standup for herself and ask for it in the end.
Another layer of the story I enjoyed were the parallels that existed between Lexi and CeCe, how Lexi and Evan both recognize this, and how Lexi appreciates and understands what Evan has done to give his niece the stability and love Lexi wishes she had growing up.
Thank you for the eARC!
