I thought that this was a pretty fun read. I liked Evan so much but if I honest, Lexi was much harder to like. Still, the chemistry between the two was undeniable and as the story progresses, I found myself passionately rooting for them as a couple.
you know the tiktoks about fictional couples and whether in real life they'd get divorced or live happily ever after???
these two are getting a divorce
I liked how the tables turned and he became the insufferable one but he became so annoying I was and still am rooting for her to ditch him forever after and give up on all men to thrive at a regular job and take care of her own little place. her development was stunning and she deserves better than him🙏

Reading this book is a rollercoaster, from the characters themselves to the story this one will take you up, drop you down have you laughing one second, and feel your stomach drop the next.
I thought this was going to be a happy fluffy rom-com and it was but it was also an in-depth story with characters that seemed like real people with real... well mostly real-world problems.
If you're looking for something fun, that will have you believing in happily ever after this is the book for you.

I requested this book because of its amazing cover. But, I liked most of it. In thr beginning I didn't like Lexi which was to be expected, but I'm glad she had an amazing character development. I liked Evan in the beginning too, but he just annoyed me in the last few chapters. I was also disappointed in him.

That aside, the book was okay with amazing side characters and a lot of lessons to be learnt. All that glitters is not gold. It had a beautiful ending.

The romance was okay, but I felt it was too fast paced. Overall, it's worth a read!
I'm not gonna lie to you, Lexi is an acquired taste in the early part of this book. I really had to push part my initial visceral dislike of her and her rich Girl actions. She's abrasive, rude, entitled and a major snob.
Thankfully as the book progresses we get to see more of why Lexi is the way she is and that she is not just the party girl ditz that she portrays so well.
Evan is a great grumpy MC. He's a great guardian to his niece but not in an over-the-top way. He wants a better, more stable life for her and the bet offers that - even if only for a little while. But similar to Lexi, Evan has his own chinks in his armour and he falls into the glitzy world.
The banter was witty and snarky as the mutual hatred dies down and the attraction begins to shine though. I really enjoyed the nods to Overboard and Trading Places movies, two of my favourites!
The Yacht scene I have to admit was one I hated - no one came out of that unscathed!
Duvall has created a fun and crazy romcom. What I enjoyed most throughout the story was the character development. When we first meet Lexi, she is an annoying, spoiled socialite. With Lexi in her new role, you begin to see her transform into a more humble person and I feel like she needed that for the story to move forward. Duvall did an excellent job at developing the characters and adding depth to them. The witty banter is fun and classic romcom. It added a playfulness to the story that I appreciated. Overall, Trading Places is a fun and pleasing read. I look forward to reading more of the author's work.
I did not finish this one, it was not for me, I couldn't relate to the characters, and just did not care for the story.
A life swap for rich and spoiled Lexi and hardworking Evan, after they agree to a bet. Both will learn lessons from this. I liked how it was told from both points of view.
An heiress with no work ethic forced to work at an auto-body shop or she loses her inheritance? Sign me up! My dad is a diesel mechanic so I was definitely interested from the blurb.
Trading Places is a dual POV romance that starts off with a bang as the unlikely duo literally crash into each other. Lexi is a spoiled heiress and everything you'd expect from one - bratty and self-centered. I wasn't sure I was going to like her but she went through some good character development and I was rooting for her by the end. Evan was all hot and grumpy, having a lot of weight resting on his shoulders raising his niece. He kinda did a 180 too, but not in the right direction lol. Man was he a jerk for that 3rd act break-up?! He was changing himself for her? He wanted to be a part of her world, but he treated her like that? Na. I needed him to grovel, get on his knees and BEG lol.
I enjoyed the plotline and the banter, but I wanted a tad more depth with the characters. Like I really wanted Lexi to bust her knuckles, break a nail and feel her struggles with not knowing how to budget, cook or clean. I really wanted a longer epilogue too lol.
Overall I'd say this was a cute, fun 4⭐️ read. Thanks so much to @entangledpublishing for the ARC!
She's so shallow...
Lexi North is ENTITLED. Way, way too entitled, living an extremely shallow life on her daddy's dime, got into Princeton and took a spot away from someone who would have finished. It was very hard for me to relate.
Evan is the mechanic she crashes into. I do like a Trading Places story (Evan and Lexi have to trade), but I think it was a miss for me as while Lexi did improve, she was still pretty shallow with a built in safety net on her father dime and her reinstated trust fund. Maybe her shallow life was captured a little too well.
I’m still processing this book. I was really pumped for this one, the description had me so intrigued. It’s very she’s all that in reverse. I feel where the book missed for me is in the lack of communication from the mmc and fmc. I don’t feel their relationship was really explained or fleshed out, it just kind of happened. I found the fmc to be annoying and she remained that way throughout. The author hit the head on the nail with the opposites attract and enemies to lovers tropes. I just wish there was more.
I love the premise of this one, opposites attract and a life swap, and was excited to see how it played out! Lexi, is purposefully not very likable at the start of this story, she’s a bit of a spoiled brat, who thinks everything can be solved if she just throws money at it (sometimes quite literally😉). Evan is a mechanic trying to help his family, including raising his niece and helping to make sure his brother’s business doesn’t have to close. There is so much more that happens within these pages but I loved watching Lexi and Evan’s views change, watching Lexi grow up a bit, and their banter volleying back and forth was great.
Evan and Lexi end up trading places as a bet, but who will end up winning? A fun read, and some lessons along the way.
Rom-com, opposites attract with passion and some steam
I enjoyed this light-hearted rom-com about people from the “other side of the tracks” trading places to see how the other half live. Socialite, spoiled brat and pampered Lexi North aka Paige Lexington Serena Louisa North is distraught one night while driving and runs into the rear of Evan Bailey’s vehicle. She pulls the “little rich girl” routine and just makes Evan angrier. When she goes to fix things, the event escalates and oops, it is now on social media. Oh. No! Lexi’s father sees this as a teachable moment, much to Lexi’s chagrin and ire.
I really liked these two. The more they came to realize how the other person lived, the more their eyes were opened and the more they helped one another. The steamy moments are not too explicit or abundant. I think it was just right. There were also poignant moments that touched my heart.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through Entangled and NetGalley.
Spoiled heiress Lexi accidentally hits Evan's car after being broken up with by Hudson. Distraught, she offers to pay him to wait with her car to be towed because she has somewhere else to be. When she stiffs him, he decides to hold her car until she pays him the 3k she owes him. Evan's niece CeCe records the interaction between the two the next day which results in a bet and the two "trading places" for two months.
There is absolutely no redeeming qualities in Lexi and I thought that Evan was incredibly boring. I felt like this book was an instance of where you were constantly being told that these people were falling in love but you weren't actually feeling it. I did not feel it at all. There was not enough character development in the world that would have made me change my mind about Lexi that I would believe.
To me, this story was just missing a real connection. It all felt incredibly superficial and surface level.
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with this advance reader copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own and were not influenced in any way.
"You know that moment you really see someone?"
She was the classic example of a spoiled rich socialite
He was your classic white-collar citizen raising his niece
A young handful (CeCe) was about to change their lives forever
In more ways than just financial status and location
I admit I was only a couple of chapters in - Could not stand our self-absorbed princess - I almost set this as DNF - I'm glad I picked it back up
Seems that the introduction was for drama's sake and to set the tone
North was beyond clueless, self-centered, oblivious, rude, entitled...
Yeah I could go on - First impressions and all -
But as the story progressed she stole my heart
As she shed her entitlement
As she embraced herself
As she fell for the stubborn penny pincher
Then we had stick in the mud, overcompensating, never cracked a smile or found a penny he didn't like (not knocking being thrifty but you'll see) Evan
So what happens when you find yourself on the other side of the fence?
In greener pastures?
Or perhaps, like our princess, in the pattie pile?
These two are about to find out
If you are looking for a fun, slow build, high tension, steamy, feel-good read with lots of character growth then don't pass this one up
Once this gets going I couldn't help but root them both on
Their banter - Their obvious chemistry - They balanced each other out
CeCe was a handful
I would have liked to know how things went with Ce Ce, the garage, and a couple of other events and how they wrapped up but overall just a great read
Lexi and Evan meet when Lexi hits Evan's car- and it doesn't go so well. Lexi is a privileged socialite, spending hundreds of thousands of dollars as she pleases. Evan is a mechanic barely making ends meet, who has custody of his niece. Said niece challenges the pair- trade places for 2 months.
This enemies to lovers is an easy, quick read. I loved the plot line and I thought it was overall a cute book! You don't know another person's struggles until you walk a mile in their shoes.
*3.5
I enjoyed this but I wanted more from it. I think that I ended up liking Lexi more than Evan which was surprising. I know that it was the whole point but I just didn't like how he changed. I think I wanted more development from him. What I need after this is an epilogue at least a year later that has a proposal.
I received an arc through netgalley.

Thanks to NetGalley for the advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I really really wanted to like this book…and I hate leaving negative reviews😬. I thought the premise sounded cute and fun and I do honestly think it had a lot of promise. Unfortunately, I almost DNF’d it as this book fell far below my hopes and expectations.
From the start, it was hard to read as the formatting of the ebook was messed up. And I’m not sure if it was just the wonky formatting and lack of paragraph breaks, the way it was written, or maybe a combo of the two, but it was very difficult to know when time passed. It felt very disjointed and jumped around, and I was often very confused because suddenly Lexi or Evan would be elsewhere with no indication. It was all jumbled together, which made it hard to read and very confusing.
The writing also just wasn’t that great, unfortunately. I found descriptions lacking and sometimes the dialogue didn’t make sense or didn’t fit right. And a lot of things just didn’t really make sense or they felt unrealistic. Trying not to give away any spoilers, Lexi and Evan’s relationship made no sense to me. It never actually developed, it just kind of happened out of nowhere, a sort of 0 -> 5 -> 100 all of a sudden. It needed to be properly developed more to make the feelings/emotions/actions more believable. And the conversation Lexi had with her dad near the end (no spoilers) was so unbelievable and out of character, it made noooo sense to me.
As for the characters, the FMC and MMC weren’t developed well-enough and I couldn’t connect with them. Lexi had potential, but Evan didn’t make sense. Often when his POV came up, I was just confused reading his thoughts as they didn’t make sense.
The worst part…the lack of communication was so painful. I can deal with slightly annoying miscommunication tropes in books, but this one was over the top. Their relationship was non-existent and surface-level…then they suddenly both want to change completely (??), and they’ve never actually talked about real feelings or emotions. And, guess what, it doesn’t work out well when they don’t communicate…shocker. It was very painful to read the end😬. Their lack of communication gets even worse (!!) and their actions (Lexi) don’t make sense. It was painful and I was just trying to push through finish it at that point.
I honestly did want to enjoy this book as it’s a fun idea, but overall it wasn’t executed very well. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend. (The cover is cute though)
The book revolves around a socialite heroine trading places with a mechanic hero. The car accident that first started the two main characters' interaction was not the best way to start their relationship, but future interactions between them helped them get closer, even as they experienced each other's lives. Can they survive the new lifestyles as well as falling in love with each other?
This book has a beautiful book cover. The title even brings to mind a show with a similar title (change the last word with another one) so I was looking forward to reading this. I enjoyed the premise of trading places, especially between a rich character and a poor character. I did like the growth that the heroine went through in the book, yet I wasn't as connected to the main couple as I could have. The book needed more details for better transition in the story, including some characters that needed them. Overall, this is a nice book with a good premise.
