This was a cute rom-com, although if I’m being honest, I felt the main characters were a little too immature for my taste. There was a point in the book where the conflict reached its crescendo, and the decisions made by the MMC had me side-eyeing so hard, I nearly DNF’d. But I kept reading and, while the actions were eventually explained away, it still left me with a bad taste in my mouth. The only good thing I got out of the story was the FMC’s growth throughout her character arc.

Thank you to Entangled and Netgalley for the ARC of this book.
I only made it to about 44% into the story before I stopped reading. This book had great writing and the premise of the book sounded really fun. Unfortunately, It just wasn't super enjoyable to me and I found I was struggling to get into the story and stay there. Most of the characters were great and I loved where the story was going but I felt like it lacked any character growth in the amount I read which makes me think it will feel rushed towards the end which is not always bad just not what I expected. I may pick it back up in the future to finish it but for now, it stays at 44%.

Think It Happened One Summer but swapping places with the mechanic while trying to figure life out.

Lexi North seems to have it all that is until everything starts going downhill for her. She literally runs into Bailey Evan and they bet on who would survive in the other's life longer. Evan lives Lexi's posh life with his niece for the summer and Lexi lives as a mechanic.

Why I loved this book:
~Dual Pov
~Life Swap
~Rags & Riches
~Enemies to Lovers
~Grumpy x Sunshine

Trigger Warning:
~Distant Parents

Thank you, NetGalley and Entangled for the opportunity to arc-read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to Entangled and NetGalley for the arc in exchange for an honest review.

Lexi North is a spoiled socialite that gets wrapped up in a bet with mechanic Evan. She has to trade her fancy perfect life for 6 weeks and learn to live on a very modest salary and work at the shop.

The premise of this story was really cute, enemies to lovers, opposites attract, and throwing everything upside down. The “bet” part was a little strange that this is where everything starts. The build up was believable and the Cece arc seemed a little too convenient. My major gripe is that the formatting for the ebook was horrendous. There were no chapters and there wasn’t any formatting with line breaks in the middle of words.

Overall I enjoyed it and would recommend if you’re looking for something more light hearted.

There is lots to like about this book other than how the main characters self sabotage. They don’t trust themselves or others not to hurt them. Being opposites helps them help each other and to fall in love. They haven’t been told the truth and have had to find their own way. They have big hearts and want to do something that makes a difference. They learn to see themselves and others in a more positive light. Other characters are set up for their own stories. They are becoming their own people. Evan and Lexi become friends then lovers. I didn’t think I would like either in the beginning but grew to like them as they grew as characters. CeCe, Evan’s niece who he parents had an active role in bringing them together will have a pivotal role if this is a series. Lexi and Evan are sexy, fun and good together. It’s rare when I like both characters equally. Thanks for advance reading. I enjoyed it and would continue to read a series.

I want to express my sincere gratitude to Netgalley, Entangled Teen, and Emily Duvall for providing me with the opportunity to read and review this advanced reader copy (ARC).

The premise of this book intrigued me, and it was my first encounter with this particular trope, which added a fresh perspective to my reading experience. Overall, it was an enjoyable and relatively fast-paced read. I found myself appreciating the cute and heartwarming moments that brought laughter to the story.

However, there were instances where the narrative felt a bit overwhelming. The switching life part of the story, while initially interesting, became somewhat predictable for me as the story progressed. Once Evan embraced the affluent lifestyle, it seemed challenging for the character to fully recover from that transformation in my eyes. Personally, I was rooting for Lexi to find a more satisfying resolution by the story's end.

In summary, this book offered a unique trope that I found engaging, with its share of delightful and humorous moments. However, there were times when the story felt a bit too formulaic for my taste, particularly concerning the character dynamics. Despite this, I appreciate the opportunity to have read it, and I look forward to exploring more of Emily Duvall's work in the future.

Trading Places by Emily Duvall is such a fun rom com that I really enjoyed.

We meet Lexi North a rich girl and Evan Bailey, a mechanic meet and agree to exchange jobs. This bet is really funny.

Lexi learns alot about herself and so does Evan.

Thier romance is one that has challenges but is really sweet as they try to understand each other's different lifestyles.

Opposites attract with fantastic characters.

This is a fun one I really enjoyed.

This was Hallmark movie-worthy! It’s exactly what you’d expect from a story about people from different backgrounds swapping lives, but to also have them falling in love while they do it? Perfection.
The growth in Lexi over the course of the book is really what sealed the deal for me. It was a total transformation. I got really frustrated with a lot of Evan’s actions and choices through a lot of the book but ultimately I’m happy he ended up where he did. I felt very proud of both of them by the end.

I really liked the idea for the plot of this book but I felt like the characters just didn’t hold up for me. The storyline was unique and had some fun aspects to it, but it also had some very unneeded subplots.

I found both characters to be quite unlikable. The FMC was more tolerable towards the end but the MMC turned into a big dick and I don’t think he really redeemed himself at all. There was so much that could have been solved by some simple communication. He was supposed to be raiding a child and was busy acting like one himself.

I definitely think there is potential and it might be a better fit for another reader.

Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for sending me this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This book sets women's rights back 100+ years. Just no. The female main character was so annoying and stupid. She has diamond flaked nails and diamond infused everything. I realize she is supposed to "grow" through her experience trading places with a mechanic, but even though I thought the premise was silly, I expected a fun, light rom-com. What I got was not that. And the miscommunication trope on the yacht? No, just no. Sorry for being so harsh, but no.

I got this book as an ARC.

Lexi North's life is perfect. Or so it appears to be looking from the outside in. When one night goes wrong after she rear-ends a gorgeous man's car with her car, she is challenged to swap lives as a bet.
Mechanic, Evan, does not have the party life. He does not have a daddy's credit card he can use whenever he need instead, he has to work to make his money. When Lexi crashes into him he sees the opportunity to change things for his family's auto shop and bank account.
But what happens when the bet is not as easy as it seems because there is hot chemistry between them? They start to fall for each other.

This book is funny and charming. This is not your average romance book. The story line is great and it's an easy read. I look forward to reading more from this author.

This is a fun and entertaining story. Lexi is a socialite and a billionaire’s daughter. She lives her life on social media with one party after another. Evan is a mechanic raising his niece and struggling to make ends meet. An accident and a bet sees them switching lives. With awesome characters the story unfolds with hilarious incidents. As they settle into their new lives they find ways to torment each other. Soon they begin to get to know each other better and find that love blossoms. It is a page turning story to the very end.

I loved the trading places premise of this book and was excited to receive an ARC. However, I felt the story telling was disjointed with uneven pacing. The writing jumped from different ideas and thought processes without a smooth transition. I also had a difficult time believing the romance between the MC’s. Both were snippy with each other, belittling the other’s lifestyle, and then suddenly they were in love. Since this was an ARC, I hope the editor will catch the misplacement of Tia, the office manager of Bailey’s. First “our office manager, Tia, isn’t in yet”. Then Evan walks behind the counter and Tia moves to the side. I ended up skimming the last half of the story just to find out if Lexi became a more responsible human being and if Evan relaxed his outlook in life.

Lexi North is a 25 years old woman
Rick&spoiled
Has the attitude of I don't work I'm a princess, left college, has some parental issues, and doesn't like to get her hands dirty.
So when she gets dumped in front of her society people and gets shot on camera she feels angry and humiliated.
This leads us to certain events and her bumping into someone's car (Evan).

Evan is a sexy handsome mechanic with a high school diploma. he works in his brother's shop and is responsible for raising his niece so you could say he is a single parent.
Being faced with Lexi wasn't on his list that day she is the opposite of everything he knows and loves and he just can't stand her.
However, when his niece challenges Lexi on Insta Live to trade places with Evan, live his life, and work his work with no extra money or privileges Evan has to do the same but vice versa.
Lexi is forced to accept or else she will lose her inheritance.
Both of them are thrown into opposite worlds and they have to adapt but would this experience change Lexi? How about Evan will he turn into a Lexi?

This book was actually very promising as a start but further on I get bored. Lexi's character is unbearable she got on my nerves (sry). I could see the ending and predict it.
Yes, there were funny moments of course but all in all after being 40% I wasn't enjoying it so I had to DNF.
Thanks to @netgalley and the publisher for granting me an ARC of #TradingPlaces in exchange for my honest review.

Xoxo💋

I liked the premise of the book; unfortunately, the execution fell flat. I think the middle part of the book is the one I liked best.

I hated Lexi at the beginning, but I understood that it was essential to the story, and having this feeling towards her was okay because that means the author managed to evoke a strong emotion from me that should change towards the end of the book. What I didn't like was that while the writing pushed me to hate Lexi, it was also pushing me to empathize with her. I wanted her to have growth first before feeling compassion for her. Evan was someone I very much liked in the beginning, but as the novel progressed, I can't seem to like him anymore. I felt like he wasn't able to actually redeem himself towards the end.

Overall, it wasn't that bad of a read. There were still some parts that I liked.

This is a captivating and delightful tale that explores the stark differences between two individuals from opposite ends of the social spectrum. The characters of Lexi and Evan are brilliantly crafted. Every setting is meticulously portrayed, making it easy to visualize and immerse oneself in the world of Trading Places, both characters push each other out of their comfort zones, and both Lexi and Evan learn valuable lessons about life, love, and the true meaning of success. The story explores themes of identity, social expectations, and the true meaning of happiness. So if you're into romance with humor and a dash of drama, this is perfect for you!

This was a fun read about how opposites switched places and fell in love.

Grumpy mechanic Evan who is raising his niece, who always had to worry about money switches places with the carefree spoiled Lexi who never had to worry about money for two months after they get conned into a bet.

I loved seeing their them falling for each other. How they couldn't keep their hands off of each other. How Lexi began to love the no frills and learning how to do things by herself.

A fun, different and sexy story.

Evan and Lexi are polar opposites in every way, and after a bet they have to change places in their lives and each will have the other's life, work, house, money. I found the way in which the author narrates the plot very entertaining and original, how little by little both of them assume the role in each other's lives and understand the other better, in addition to the way in which both of them develop feelings for the other.

Trading Places is a hilarious, gripping and unique story that made me laugh and left me with a smile

This book started off really weak. We have a stuck up trust fund baby FMC, and a MMC that does nothing except fantasize about what articles of her clothing he’d like to take off. They switch places because of a bet everyone finds themselves and they fall in love after literally communicating mostly through text.

I really wanted to like this but it all felt very cliche and surface level. Like I don’t think I even needed to read this to be able to tell you what happens. I was just kind of bored.

This is warm and funny romcom, but also contained some uncomfortable observations.

This fairy tale works on two levels. It’s light and funny and a bit silly, but in a good way with lots of funny moments as Lexi and Evan dive into their opposite lives with fish out of water experiences even as they connect with each other.

There is another side to it though, as we see the shallowness and waste in Lexi's uber rich life, with multiple empty houses ready for her to arrive, and obscene expenditure on designer labels and material items. Equally we see the absolute grind in Evan's world where what could be simple choices around home maintenance and even food security become difficult and complex decisions. These issues of the wealth gap are laid out for the reader, but not solved. Evan's niece CeCe initiates their life swap, but is ultimately a pawn in it all.

Lexi becomes more likeable as she fits into Evan's world and the opposite is true for him, hence their character growth.

There is a HEA happy for their lives, but not really for their separate worlds. Recommended.

Thank you NetGalley, Emily Duvall and Entangled for the ARC.
