This was such a cute romcom book about online dating and struggles with body positivity.

As someone who was online dating for many years I could relate to this story so much.

I loved Fortune and Jason’s relationship and they were just amazing together! I got to admit she was annoying at times with the overthinking and analysing every situation which I didn’t feel it was very realistic, but I’m glad they got their HEA.

Now, could the rest of the series be written from first POV please? I can never get past books written in third POV.

The Accidental Swipe by Y. M. Nelson
Content warnings: fatphobia, racism, teenage trauma, mean inner critic

Fortune has spent her life dealing with fatphobia and racism. She doesn't trust easily, and with good reason. Jason is looking for long term love. He enjoys women who are real, and is not a fetishist. Fortune and Jason's connection is instant, and neither of them trusts it. Over time they fall in love, have amazingly hot sex, hurt each other, and then find their happily ever after.

There is a spectacular scene where Louis explains Jason's privilege. Jason is defensive right away, and then he listens. Swoon to that!

I received an advance review copy for free from NetGalley, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

As much as I liked the cover and the blurb, this book just wasn't for me. I felt the story kept turning in circles and I couldn't wait to be done with reading. I get that insecurities can get in the way of building a relationship but each time they talked about it - and I thought: o.k. now they resolved the problems and can move on - they didn't. And in the end they just realize they love each other and all is well. I just couldn't relate.

Oh how I wish the book cover was different to truly reflect the story, I think this would draw in so many readers! Fortune is a curvy woman, has interesting friends and a good job. Jason despite being mature age, is dared by his friends to join a dating app for curvy people. One accidental swipe leads to a story full of laugh out loud moments and a very spicy love scene!
Overall, I would have liked to see more character development and accountability for their actions. Still an enjoyable read.

The Accidental Swipe by Y.M. Nelson is a quick and easy read - perfect for a day at the beach.

Fortune has a great job, good friends, and enjoys her life, but is pushed into finding a date for a friend's gala. Jason is busy with his construction business and is goaded into looking for a date on a plus-sized dating app by some friends (that he really needs to ditch, they're jerks!)

I didn't like the aspect of looking for a date on a plus-sized website is akin to something horrible, but I guess that is what life can be like.

Fortune and Jason meet and then to their mutual surprise enjoy each other and the story goes from there. There are miscommunication issues and other things to go through to get to their happily ever after, but it's an enjoyable ride with them to get to their HEA.

I received this as an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Fortune and Jason are an opposites attract pair of two kind and caring people. I wanted to root for them throughout the book. But I struggled to root for them when they both came into this relationship dishonestly and then blamed the other for their communication issues. I also didn’t love Fortune’s view of herself. As a plus sized woman, I understand the struggle but also would’ve loved to see her grow in her own sense of self, not just with what Jason saw in her. While this was a really fast and easy read, I feel it would’ve benefitted the characters to have a bit more time to develop and accept accountability for their own challenges.

Overall a fun read with likable characters!

Just a great romcom! Perfect for a summer read too. & the mad sex scene was 🔥🔥!

Fortune is a plus size woman that has everything going for herself. Great job, supportive friends and loves being a home body watching shows. With bad luck with dating in the past she has some insecurities she hasn’t gotten over yet.

Jason almost got married at one point is a business owner with a questionable group of guy friends that end up coming across Fortune at some points in the book. Not having much luck with dating he is dared to meet someone off a plus size dating app.

This book shows how one accidentally swipe could lead to a HEA. While it’s not all rainbows and flowers and guaranteed to be a roller coaster of a ride. These two characters will show each other how to have a different insight on life.

I really enjoyed how this book was relatable and shows how the dating scene can be hard especially when past experiences can take a hold and scare you realizing a good thing when it comes around.

Thank you to NetGalley for the EARC! As always, my review is my opinion and thoughts.

Weekend or beach romcom. Insecure, immature, female who sabotages relationships because of a high school experience and low self esteem - meets nice and attractive guy who likes her, but she refuses to believe it and of course pushes him away, repeatedly - and blames everyone else. Quite the rollercoaster, and need to let go of logic at many points but you will get to the eventual HEA. Although you may wonder why.
