This is the 4th book in Kelley Armstrong’s “A Stitch in Time” series. This time around is the story of Portia, a woman trained in the medical profession, but not allowed to practice as a doctor in the 1800"s. She has witnessed her sisters go back and forth through the time portal and decides that she needs to follow her sister, who is late in returning from the past. Of course, since this is a romance tale, there is the obligatory relationship development, but even though you know what is coming, it is the adventure of getting there that holds the reader enraptured. Portia stands out as a strong independent woman, so totally unexpected from not just the past, but her current time as well. I only wish there had been more interactions from the characters in the previous novels to bring it all together, but as it is, this would be a good stand-alone novel in case readers have not read the previous books in the series. I cannot wait for next one!
"A Castle in the Air" by Kelley Armstrong (One of my all time fave authors) is book 4 in the Stitch in Time series.
A fantastic page turning time travel, historical fiction, romance and mystery novel!! There is so much to this novel that I did not want to stop reading. I have read all of the books in the series and this was one of my favorites. This novel follows Portia, the middle sister, as she attempts to find her youngest sister in the eighteenth century. Portia goes through the time stitch and promptly lands herself into danger. She is held up by highway men while traveling to find her sister. Then she ends up helping the men who were attempting to rob her when one of them gets injured. Unable to find her sister she ends up staying with the highway men who are definitely more than meets the eye.
I cannot express enough how much I enjoyed this book. It is the fourth in the series but I do think you could enjoy this book as a standalone. The author does give a forward that helps explain what has happened in the previous books. There was so much to love in this book from the fact that it was set in the 18th century but the main character was from the 19th century. There was an incredible romance aspect as well as a murder that needed to be solved. There was lots of action and overall a very satisfying story. I would recommend this novel to everyone!! I hope there will be more novels to come in this series! I also have to add that every cover of these books is absolutely gorgeous!!
Thank you to NetGalley and Victoria Editing for this ARC.
How I have enjoyed this series! Portia was so much fun to read. I must say how much I laughed at the dynamics of Ben and Jude and Ben and Portia. And finally solving the mystery of Scarlet Jack! I am so sorry to see this series come to an end, though I hope there will be a Ben and Portia Christmas story as there was with the other couples.
