An excellent account inspired by the 60s and early 70s from the viewpoint of Conor Patrick McKall, a young man that has been ordered to report for the induction into the Armed Forces, despite the fact that his parents had encouraged him to stay in college.

Cheerful Obedience is a solid read.

An excellent look at era that must not be forgotten. As a 2-S myself, I stayed in school and missed out on the adventures described in this book which really brings to life the entire gamut of emotions the 60s and early 70s inspired. The main character is truly an Everyman whose hurts, hates, loves, despair, unbelief and more really come to life.
