The title tells you all! A wonderful and intricate story of the overlapping nature of films and humanity, and how sometimes things are not what they seem. A twisted killer seeking revenge pulls the story to a dramatic conclusion.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this eARC.

A wild book with a clever premise, someone is killing actors who play superheroes on screen. A little farcical but enjoyable.

The actors who play superheroes are mysteriously dying on set!

Ken Allen, who tried his hand at acting and is now a private detective, is put in a hard place. His best buddy Ray, the gadgets and props specialist, is pinned for the deaths of these actors. Ken is determined to help Ray and discover who is killing these superheroesโ€ฆ and why.

All these superheroes at different studios had me envisioning the rivalry of Marvel vs. DC! And, of course, there is a villain, too.

This is such an action-packed story. It felt similar to the superhero movies but with an intriguing mystery. Ken is a very likable detective; heโ€™s a good friend, pretty funny, plus heโ€™s trying to be a good dad while fighting crime.

I missed the first book in this series, but I will be reading the next one very soon!

This is Book 2 in J.A. Crawfordโ€™s Ken Allen Super Sleuth series. Itโ€™s a fun, fast-paced superhero parody filled with likable characters, mystery, action, suspense, and humor. Although it could stand on its own, I think it would be more enjoyable to read the series in order.

Failed actor, martial artist, trainer to the stars, and fledgling private investigator Ken Allen is a humble, resourceful, likable main character. The secondary characters are also interesting. I loved the dialog and character interactions, as well as all of the crazy inventions. Itโ€™s fun to see how the author parodies different movie genres, and I canโ€™t wait to see what he does in the next installment.

The plot was interesting and kept me guessing. I enjoyed the mystery and suspense, and although Iโ€™m not normally a fan, the way the fight scenes were described held my interest. Although the book contains a lot of violence, it never felt gratuitous or overly graphic.

I was captivated by Tim Campbellโ€™s narration. His pacing is good, he is able to convey humor and emotion, and his voices fit the characters. I definitely recommend the audiobook.

I received a free copy of the audiobook through NetGalley. I volunteered to provide an honest review.

Ken Allen is a huge fan of super hero comics and movies. He even starred in one but turned out he wasnโ€™t very good at acting so he became a private investigator, something, it turned out, heโ€™s
very good at although he hasnโ€™t given up the costumes and all the gadgets to help him on the job. Now someone is killing actors who have played super heroes and Allen has been hired by the studio to discover who.

Heroes Ever Die is the second in the Ken Allen Super Sleuth series by J.A. Crawford and what a fun twisty rollicking good tale it is. It is cover to cover action, comic book and pop references, witty dialogue, and a noir(ish) mystery that kept me guessing right up to the big reveal at the end. True, the characters are a tad one-dimensional but, really, does anyone want an overly angst-ridden super hero. Overall, a very entertaining tale for fans of super hero franchises and interesting mysteries. I listened to the audiobook of this book narrated by Tim Campbell who does an amazing job of bringing this tale to life.

I received an audiobook of this book from Netgalley and CamCat Books in exchange for an honest review

I listened to this as an audio book. Wow, it was a fast past and fun book.

Ken Allen is an actor that once played Jove Brand super spy. He also has done some sleuthing as a private investigator. He needs all his skills to solve the mystery of who is killing the actors on set since his friend Ray Ford is the most likely suspect. Ray provides the fantastical props for the super hero movies. These props start malfunctioning and killing the actors and wrecking havoc for the films.

This is book 2 of 2 in the Ken Allen Super Sleuth stories. This is the first one that I have experienced. I was expecting a James Bond type book set on a movie set based on the title and book jacket. What I got was so much more! There is action, crazy wonderful inventions, plenty of mystery, and a lot of witty humor and dialog.

The narrator Tim Campbell is masterful! He did a perfect job on this audio book 5 out of 5 stars for his performance. I am very glad that I was able to experience this book with the audio version.

There were only two points that kept this from being a 5 star for me: 1. Missing a good romance component. 2. One of the plot twists seemed a little lack luster for me.

Overall, I highly recommend this in the audio format. This would be a terrific movie that I would love to see.

This was an enjoyable little book, though I didn't read the first book in the series so I felt a bit left out every time the author mentioned what I assume was the plot of the first book and how the MC became known among the actor community. The pacing and action were good and it kept me reading. Overall, I wasn't quite sure what to expect by was pleased with how it went. The reveal at the end worked for me, though it was hard for me to tell when this was meant to be set since some of the technology seemed futuristic.

Although I didn't read the first novel in this series, this title got my attention.
Our Super Hero Ken Allen a personal trained turned PI is trying to find out what is going on. He is not an official investigator but kind of a James Bond or perhaps a Bond wannabe with a keto diet, smoothies, and then there are his selfies!

Tim Campbell did a great job with performing the characters.
This was a fun read!

I really enjoyed the audiobook and the narrator did a fantastic job with the character of Ken Allen. I loved the comic book vibe and all the superhero gadgets. Ken is such an enjoyable down to earth guy and his interactions with his son as he tried to be a better dad were so sweet. The mystery is cleverly entertaining and there are a few unexpected twists. This book is just pure fun and I can't wait to go back and read Jove Brand is Near Death.

Apologies, but this is a DNF at 34%. I started from the beginning again at one point, but it was still meaningless as I have no knowledge of Marvel and comic terminology. I also struggled with the narration as it sounded like a robot.

Heroes Ever Die by J.A. Crawford, an audiobook narrated by Tim Campbell was an interesting ride. This is not my usual go-to book but I like to mix and match to ensure I am not getting tired of one gander. This was an interesting book! Sometimes it felt nearly like a James Bond parody! It made me laugh!
I didn't read the first novel so this was like a cold shower but in a good way! I like the way how Ken is trying to find out what is going on. He is not an official investigator but he is so fun and entertaining! It's hard to add more details without spoiling the story so you will need to read or listen to the audiobook!
Tim Campbell did absolutely amazing job with this book! Sucked me in from the beginning!

Ken Allen is back and so is detective stern and then this one we get to meet Rayโ€™s daughter and get to know Ray much better Ken also gets to meet his hero Bob King and realizes why maybe itโ€™s not such a good thing to meet those we admire. They have two superhero movie houses and it seems one doesnโ€™t want the other to succeed in this is where the new private eye canal and comes in but unlike most investigators he has Ray in his corner. I loved the first book and the second book was just as good Timothy Campbell narrated and I love his voice and think he did such a great job if the ending is a clue to where the third book is going than I am down to read it but then again regardless I would read it anyway I love these books and highly recommend them if you love the old school investigator than you love these books. Listening this one was like being back with old friends and I canโ€™t wait for the third book or at least I hope there is a third. I want to think KM cat audio and net galley for my ark copy please forgive any mistakes I am blind and dictate my review.

In Heroes Ever Die, the sequel to Jove Brand Is Near Death, D-list detective Ken Allen investigates a series of murdersโ€”all actors who play superheroes on screenโ€”after his closest friend is framed by the killer.

If you're a fan of superheroes and comicbook-esque romps, this is a great novel for you. It hits the ground running and maintains its pace and intrigue throughout the book.

What Jove Brand is Near Death was to James Bond, Heroes Ever Die is to your favourite comic book cinematic universe. I enjoyed the first book enough that I was eager to read this one when I learned of its release, but with ample caution because you never know if a sequel will live up to the expectations set by the original. I think Heroes Ever Die is an entertaining follow-up, and I wasn't disappointed.

The storyline moves at a good pace, and we get the familiarity of some returning characters along with a new villain and supporting cast to provide a fresh story. The plot is intricate enough to keep you mostly unsure of the ending until the big reveal. The storytelling verges on corny, but in a self-aware sort of way that I found enjoyable.

I listened to Heroes Ever Die in audiobook format, and while I would probably prefer reading the words on a page, I did find narrator Tim Campbell to have a voice well-suited to the Ken Allen character, and he added to the drama with his delivery.

If you enjoyed Jove Brand is Near Death, this is an easy book to recommend. If you haven't read Jove Brand yet but enjoy an action packed whodunnit that doesn't take itself too seriously, start with book one and then follow it up with Heroes Ever Die. They are fun reads that are worth your time.

If you like superheroes and maverick detectives then this is an OK listen but the Marvel franchise doesn't have any competition here
This would probably be better as a film as there are a number of very action packed fight scenes I also had to listen to the last 4 chapters to find out the end as I kept losing interest
