A lovely book about an important topic, but it still needs more edits. There were a few errors throughout (e.g. 'said her dad' is used twice for one bit of speech, overall speech feels a bit stiff, 'Charlotte’s mom said Bella was loved by everyone Charlotte told everyone about the time Bella ate she met, and they should celebrate her life and bury her birthday cake!' needs a complete rework). Not sure if these errors are just in my ebook or not.
Otherwise, it discusses a very emotional and difficult situation in an empathetic and easy-to-understand way. And the illustrations are so wonderful (so my rating is more for them). If edits were made, this would be a go-to book for pet loss.

Good Bye Bella is a new favorite children’s book. This is a book that anyone can relate to. Bella is getting older and Charlotte realizes how important their time is together. She learns that it’s best to focus on the good times and keep Bella alive in her memories. This beautiful story helps children (and let’s face it adults too) cope with the loss of a beloved pet. I love the features in the back where it can be personalized and dedicated to your special pet. As a teacher this is a topic that’s come up and this would be a great resource to recommend. I just reviewed Goodbye, Bella by Katherine Pendergast & Lacie Brueckner. Thank you for allowing me to read this sweet story. Today is one year since we said goodbye to our sweet pup and couldn’t have picked a better book to read today. #GoodbyeBella #NetGalley

"Bella knows we love her, and our memories with her can live on in our hearts. Let's make each day she has left special."
This heartwarming and touching book is a very short but sweet and tender story about Charlotte's journey through grief as she finds out her beloved Great Dane, Bella will not be with her much longer.
There are pages at the beginning and end where the reader can paste a picture of a special pet they have lost as well and write down some special memories.
It will touch your heart!
Thanks to #Netgalley and publisher Kat's Socks for offering this beautiful book to be reviewed in exchange for my honest thoughts.

Losing a pet is one of the hardest things for anyone, but especially for kids. This is such a sweet book to help them understand. I loved the personalization of the book, with a section to add a picture and memories.
Thank you, Netgalley and Greenleaf Book Group. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Aww what a beautiful little story. I think it's very important to help children to understand that our pets do not live forever and it is hard to let them go. I think the story would be for a younger child, perhaps 3-5 when they dont fully understand the loss of a pet. My 8 year old does understand and I read this with him and I think at his age the book going a little more into detail about all the emotions that you feel and how hard it is to say goodbye to your special friend. I think the idea behind this and the execution was very well done.

Well this sad but sweet little storybook definitely hit close to home. As the owner of a petcare business, I have had to endure more than my fair share of loss with older cat and dog clients over the years- including one sweet cat just this morning. So I can say with confidence that this is a great book for little ones and their parents to read to help them through their time of loss- and in fact, I will likely buy some copies to give out to clients in their time of need.
The illustrations by Svetlana Urbanowicz suit the book perfectly as well.
Thank you Katherine Pendergast & Lacie Brueckner, Greenleaf Book Group, River Grove Books, and NetGalley for providing this ARC for review consideration. All opinions expressed are my own.
