Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to me to receive this book for an honest review.

I found this book a little disturbing. I did not like the abuse, adultery and death of twins.
I could not get past that.
For this reason I have to honestly give this only two stars.

Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for an eARC of this thrilling ride! I loved Samantha Hayes' The Trapped Wife when I read it way back in 2021. So, naturally when I saw this on Netgalley I immediately requested for it. I love a good twisty read and this was one of it. Although the different POV kind of threw me off at times Samantha was able to pull me back into the story. There were times wherein the character development was inconsistent. So, I'd say that I liked the trapped wife better than this. I did however love the fact that it was fast paced and the secrets were all so juicy. The family drama was top notch and at one point I felt like I was watching a soap opera. The spilling of secrets one after the other kept me hooked. It wasn't predictable for me and if you're looking for a books that has twist after twist then I recommend you give this book a shot.

I really enjoy Samantha Hayes books and this was another gripping thriller that kept me hooked to the end, so many secrets and lies! It takes a great imagination to come up with a story like this.

Sam Hayes is a brilliant author and every book is fantastic. This has been no different. I have loved this book from beginning to end and have devoured this in just one sitting.

After the death of Ray, the Hunter family come together and this is where we start to see this unfold. I have adored seeing secrets unravel.

This is full of layers with secrets, grief and heartache unfolding. I have felt as though I have been watching the events unfold in front of me.

This is tense and suspenseful in all the right places. I have been gripped to this one and desperately wanting to see how it would play out.

This is a very dysfunctional family and one I’ve loved meeting. This is a group you cannot predict.

I’ve read all of Sam’s books and this is a favourite. I have loved every moment of reading this gem.

I highly recommend this book.

This book was a 5 star throughout the majority of the book--and then the last part just fizzled. I am so confused on how thing transpired and the way it all came together, or fell apart--I can't decide which. I am usually good when a story ends and I have some questions that I can play around with--but with this one they are unanswered and make little sense on the how/why. Still a decent book overall--i just didn't like the end. While this particular book wasn't a knockout for me--I am excited to read more from the author. as I do like the writing style.

There are lots of juicy twists and turns throughout this book. A slow burn at first, but once the pace picks up it doesn’t let go until the bitter end. There is a lot of depth to the story, but the characters and plots interweave beautifully.

Highly recommended.

The Inheritance is a bit of a slow burn at first but the story does get better and more twisted. I'm glad I kept reading because the story kept me guessing and wanting more towards the second half.

I thought this book was a really good physiological thriller after reading the author’s previous books was really looking forward to reading it and it didn’t disappoint. From start to finish it got you hooked and was a really well laid out story with lots of very interesting characters who were so different but was very good the way they were all able to be connected together. Would really highly recommend this book.

I’ve said it over and over, a good psych thriller has twists and turns, lots of layers, and keeps the reader guessing right up until the end. The Inheritance by Samantha Hayes has all of that and more.
In fact, even the title lends itself to several interpretations. But more on that later.
The author sets the stage with a family reunion of sorts – one of the first times that three sisters and their families are all together after their father’s death. Their mom, Connie, has something to tell them, but we don’t know exactly what that is.
An inheritance, presumably, right?
However, it turns out that there are secrets galore in the Hunter family. I think the only character with no secrets is the family dog. And almost nobody is who they really seem to be.
In that regard, the author does a masterful job of directing and misdirecting reader attention and perceptions. For example, is Theo as devious as he appears, or is he hiding something? Is Travis an awful person – if so, what does Darby see in him? What’s going on with Darby and Adrian?
The questions go on and on and form quite a web of lies and deceit. So much so that the uncovering of one secret actually exposes more layers of deceit.
I can’t really talk about any character who stood out, because it was more of an ensemble piece. I liked the way that the action switched between characters. That helped add to the “web” of connections and lies.
That being said, there were a couple of “reveals” that felt more gratuitous than actually contributing to the plot. And one at the very end was good, but I thought it was unnecessary because it was thoroughly glossed over. However, I did like how the author allowed the reader to make their own conclusions about a few other points.
Oh, and about the actual “inheritance?” The obvious meaning is a decent reveal, but by the time the characters get around to it, the reader has (probably) already figured out what the issue is. Deeper meanings of inheritance (insanity? Family problems handed down?) abound as well.
All told, The Inheritance is exactly what I want out of a psych thriller, and I can’t wait to see what Samantha Hayes comes up with next.

Connie plans a family get together after the death of her husband to read the Will. But there are other long kept secrets and hidden family discoveries intertwined throughout each of the sister’s and mother’s lives. This story is told in each person’s points of view and will only tie together at the very end. What has the girl’s mother been hiding all those years and what is going on between one sister’s husband and her siblings? You won’t believe what all those secrets reveal!!

A good boo. However very slow to start off with. So you have to stick with it. But it does pick up later in the book if you stick around. It is told by the viewpoint of many people. There are some good twist and turna in it

This was overall a very good book. Lots of suspense. It started fairly slow, but really picked up later in the book. Told from many points of view, it gives you a chance to get to know the characters. But, sometimes what you think is happening, turns out to be something completely different. It really does keep you guessing until the end.

Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for allowing me to read this ARC.

Samantha Hayes' "The Inheritance" left me feeling less than satisfied. The book unfolds a little too slowly for me, coupled with a multitude of characters, made it challenging to fully immerse myself in the narrative. The frequent shifts between different characters' perspectives felt disjointed and often left me struggling to connect with the story.

Unfortunately, the final twist in the plot was far from satisfying. It felt forced, filled with inconsistencies, and left behind a trail of unresolved questions that hindered my overall enjoyment of the book. Having previously read and enjoyed this author's work, I was disappointed that "The Inheritance" didn't live up to my expectations.

Despite my disappointment with this particular book, I won't let it deter me from exploring Samantha Hayes' future works.

I usually love Samantha Hayes. She has been high on my list since The Reunion. This one though, was a struggle. It had all the makings of a rather good story but then it just all fell apart at the end. Nothing was resolved, everything was ambiguous and nothing had an ending. I expected so much more and I was disappointed.

I will admit that at the beginning of the story I couldn't keep up with so many diffrent people's pov. Once I got familiar with everyone's names I was okay. I think that's more of a me thing then an author thing. Just thought I would share that. For the actual story I felt like the beginning was a slow burn. I do understand that the story needed to be developed before the big moves to come out. Let me say that once they do they are huge! I was was like surprised and shocked at every turn. I was bearly getting over a shocker when another one popped out. This story is one I'm still thinking about since it left me speechless. Definitely a book I'll reccomend to all who hear.

This book is a tricky one to review as on one hand I enjoyed it but equally it was very slow and a little predictable.

Some twists were hidden well whilst others were totally bizarre and made the plot feel even less believable. The twists that were made were utterly confusing almost to the point where you wonder if anyone in the story didn’t have something to confess to!

The pace was slow albeit until the very end when everything was at break neck speed but I enjoyed it. I didn’t love it but it was an alright read.

Thanks to NetGalley for my advance copy in exchange for my honest review.
