This was a fun, easy too read chic lit book that had many laugh out loud parts. I loved the main characters and the story was refreshing. Another brilliant book from this author.
Old Uni friends reunite after a decade of love, loss, addiction and making movies with Idris Elba. Love the lighthearted meet cute storyline which is nicely balanced with some hefty issues handled with sensitivity and humour. This group of mates is a great illustration of the complexity of adult female relationships: Love Joanna’s writing.

Book Review:
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Beth, Becky, Erin, Tara, and Alex couldn’t be more different. What started out as an eclectic group of college housemates quickly turned to friendship. After finishing school they embarked on their separate journeys. A decade later the group reunites to bid farewell to the home that started it all. Will one trip be enough to rekindle friendships that haven’t been nurtured in ten years, or will the time spent apart be too much to overcome?
Joanna Bolouri, created a diverse cast of characters in her novel, The Weekend Trip. In writing five very distinct personalities she perfectly captures how college friends are often composed of people we least expect. While the girls couldn’t be more different from one another, playing a part in each other’s formative years created an unbreakable bond. Or so they thought.
Using an alternating timeline, Bolouri illustrates how a close group of friends can easily drifted apart. I loved the insight switching back and forth between their university years and present day afforded. The natural progression from young women to full fledge adults fleshed out each character.
The five complex, main characters featured in the book allowed readers to connect with one or multiple storylines. I loved that chronic illnesses, loss of a partner, mental health, and a love triangle played vital roles in one book. It made for an entertaining and compelling read.
Special thanks to Netgalley, Bookouture, and Joanna Bolouri for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my honest review.
Thank you #Netgalley for the copy!
When Erin's family decides to sell their house, she knew it was time to pull her college friends together for one last trip that the beach house. We follow these women as they reconnect after many years, each at different stages in their life. Each with their own secrets ad struggles. The chapters bounce back from each persons narrative as well as flashbacks. I enjoyed the writing style as a first time reader of this author and look forward to more!
this story was brilliant. I fell in love with the story within the first few pages. It had everything a good book needs whether youre by the pool, or having a picnic in the sun.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an advance copy of The Weekend Trip by Janna Bolouri in exchange for my honest review and opinion. I absolutely loved this book so much as it's all about friendships! I have so many friends that days/weeks/months go by and we can pick up the phone and catch up right where we left off like no time has passed. That's the premise of this book. You wlll be grinning ear to ear at many different places in this book. My advice to you is clear your schedule as you will not want to do anything but read once you start this!
A hilarious drama filled with friendship dramas and every day life. The characters are witty and likeable and the trip away was drama filled, it felt like I was watching a soap opera.
This book was a DNF. I was excited to read a cute rom com of college friends going on a trip. I think for me I was just reading to many rom coms back to back. This book will be something I will need to come back to. I do wish it didn't have so many characters it did get confusing to keep track of all of them. I also was a little lost with the random flashbacks that kept happening. I think others will enjoy this book it just wasn't for me. All opinions in this review are my own thank you to netgalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this.
A truly uplifting, heart warming tale of friendship. There are plenty of entertaining twists and turns with a smattering of drama and lashings of luxury. Really enjoyable read. Easy to follow, easy to sink into but hard to put down. Great book!
Thank you Netgalley
This was hilarious as hell. Like actual laugh-out-loud comedy. And just so uplifting! Highly recommend when you're in a reading slump!!
I loved this book. I laughed , I cried. Its a book about friendship. I will definately be reading more of her books as I thoroughly enjoyed this one. I loved the combination of all the characters.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book - it was a fresh take on the traditional single friend trope. A quick and enjoyable read worth adding to your TBR list.
Five friends used to spend their days at Erin's beachfront home in Ireland, until they got older and went their separate ways. 10 years later and Erin is putting her property up for sale. First, she wants to have everyone together again for "old times sake." Soon after their arrival, secrets from the past and present start surfacing. Will this be a heartwarming reunion that brings everyone together again or one that pushes them apart?
This was a cute story of friendship and how even though you've known someone for years (even a decade), you might not know all of them.
"The Weekend Trip" by Joanna Bolouri is a rollercoaster of humor and friendship. Bolouri's storytelling is witty and relatable as she navigates the complexities of a weekend away with friends. The characters' escapades and revelations are both entertaining and endearing. This book is a hilarious reminder that sometimes, the best moments in life are those spent with the people who truly understand you, making it a feel-good, laugh-out-loud read that's perfect for a weekend escape.
Loved this book. Couldn't read it fast enough. I very much enjoyed how flashes from the past are seamlessly interwoven into the present day narrative in a way that's less structured than other novels of its kind that I've read. All five characters are different and you are sure to find one to relate to. Information is slowly revealed about them and you are left wondering how it will all pan out.
One thing I found not quite believable is that these 5 friends who were so close in uni had major life events such as weddings in between the last time they saw each other and this weekend trip where they rekindle their friendship. However much you drift apart, weddings are events that bring back long lost friends. It just didn't feel quite believable that they would not have invited each other to their weddings if they were such good friends prior...
Absolutely loved this book! The writing style was really good and I look forward to reading any other books from this author in the future :)
A fun book that celebrates female friendship. Womanhood and the bonds that tie us together. How friendship changes over the years and the things that the us togetherm.
The Weekend Trip is a true celebration of female friendships and the unique bond that womanhood has in keeping us together. It did a really good way of accurately depicting how our friendships develop over the years as we grow and the struggles we face (also the grudges we never quite go over with our friends too!)
Overall a really fun book, so funny whilst having some quite touching moments.
