Really enjoyed this book, Claire Cooper's debut.
The premise sounded right up my street!
The pacing felt a little inconsistent in parts, but the 'fast parts' were brilliant and I couldn't read fast enough!
For a debut novel, this was great fun. I look forward to more from the author!

This was a quick read and featured quite a lot of jumping in the time sequence. If you like closed room mysteries, this might be for you.

What a great read! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book! I'm off to find another read by this author!!!

A great read, very twisty and claustophobic given that it largely takes place in an elevator (the now scenes anyway; the before scenes are elsewhere). Lots of tension from the very beginning. Can't wait to read more from the author.

Maeve and Cerys share an elevator to reach the twentieth floor of an office block. But it suddenly jolts to a halt and they are stuck. They do not know each other but as the hours pass with no progress they start to share their past life and secrets. The story moves between the past and present told from both their points of view. It was intriguing how their stories came together and how they were connected without realising. This was an enjoyable read with plenty of suspense, jealousy and revenge with an explosive ending. An excellent read.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for giving me the, opportunity to read and review this book,

When I thought about an entire book being set in an elevator, I thought it wouldn't work. How wrong was I? This was a great read which was well written, kept me gripped and made me want to know more. A perfect Summer beach read or one for those cosy winter nights in!

I really enjoyed this title.
This title was a fast paced page turner which I would highly recommend to anyone.
This book literally had twists and turns that you don’t see coming that leave you questioning everyone.
Will read more from this author in the future.

The Elevator by Claire Cooper is a twisty page-turner with a tantalizing hook that pulled me in from the very start.

Two women find themselves trapped in an elevator. One, it is quickly established, has rage issues, and both are hiding secrets which are slowly revealed piece by compelling piece. The tension between the two women is almost palpable as they await rescue from their ever-increasingly claustrophobic prison, and your jaw will drop with some shocking revelations and twists over the course of this clever and well-executed narrative.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for an ARC.

I was first attracted to the synopsis of this book. One we dont come across very often. Unfortunately this book was just too slow for me. The ending was good, but it focused to much on the past.

Very interesting and different book. I love the concept of knowing who did what, but yet still wondering what am I reading?? Finally putting it all together was like, WHAT!! Fun, fast read.
Thanks to netgalley, the publisher and author for this advanced reader copy.

Claire Cooper's book The Elevator is what some might call a "slow burn." Two women are stuck in an elevator. One woman is trying to get to an important meeting; the other is there for a more sinister purpose. The book jumps back and forth between past and present, giving the reader background on the women. Unfortunately, to me, it seemed like the book dragged on with not a whole lot to look forward to.

There is one great moment when the reader realizes something that the women don't know yet. I got excited at this point in the book, thinking things were really going to pick up. They did not, but this one part was enough for me to round 2.5 stars up to 3.

Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Two women find themselves trapped in an elevator and share dark secrets from their past. It's an intriguing premise and the book gets off to a great start before bogging down in the flashback scenes. As soon as the elevator lurches to a stop, the plot's pace slows to a near crawl. I found myself really working at it to keep track of who was who and how it all connected and the reveal was interesting, but it took forever to get there.

Claire Cooper is the queen of thrillers. The Elevator is claustrophobic, addictive and unpredictable.

I found myself pulled into this book. I became unwilling to put this down which resulted in me devouring this book in just one sitting.

My heart has pounded and my pulse has raced. I absolutely loved how claustrophobic this has been.

The dual timeline has really given me insight into the events that have occurred and allowed me to really get into this one.

This is written in a way that pulls you in and keeps you hooked from the beginning. I loved the strong themes of jealousy and guilt that fill the pages.

This is a great read and one I have no hesitation about recommending.

It wasn’t the rollercoaster ride that it advertised, and I found it to be a little flat in places.
Told over different time spans from 2 people - I found myself slightly confused and a little disappointed. I was shocked at the big reveal, especially as I try to guess these shocking twists earlier. A good holiday read, but not on my top 10.

I thought this was a really good book, told from the POVs of both Cerys and Maeve who are trapped in an elevator together. The story is told in dual timelines, which is a style that I enjoy; it makes the pacing really fast and I finished the book in less than a day.

The author did a fantastic job in weaving what initially seemed like separate storylines into a cohesive narrative, and I also really enjoyed the coincidences that ended up bringing these characters onto their current course. Maeve is a bit of a sociopathic narcissist, so not a likable character, but I always find it fascinating to get into the head of a character like that. I didn’t figure out the twist early, but when it happened it was so well done that I couldn’t believe I hadn’t gotten there first. The end unsettled me, which was clearly the author’s intention; I expect I’ll still be thinking about what could happen next with these characters even after I’m on to the next book.

Overall, this was a tense and fast-paced read and I thought it was very well written. I’d recommend to those who enjoy psychological thrillers. Thanks to Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This sounded my typical favourite plotline, possibly I have just read too many of them as I found this just a bit dull to be honest. I did enjoy the big reveal approx 2/3rds in and I was pleased that I'd only just worked it out pages before which is always a bonus but after that moment I felt like it went downhill. Maeve was a very unlikeable character and I didn't warm to anyone else much really either. I get so frustrated when in books, TV or films when characters don't just say what they want to say just for the sake of the storyline, I don't find this very realistic, which I believe happened on numerous occasions throughout and Im also not sure that we ever found out what the meeting was going to be about in New York for Cerys? It appeared to play a huge role in her stress levels. Also, what stopped the lift? Why did it take so long in the worlds capital city? Not 1 person was able to speak to them via the other side of the lift door?
I'm nosy...... I like to know all the info...

Unfortunately I will have to give #TheElevator a 3 star rating. Thank you #NetGalley for the copy.

This could have been a very exciting book but too much poorly timed swapping about from one pov to another and from one timescale to another.
The gem of a great plot idea was certainly there but not executed well
