This story is based upon one thing that ALL of the characters share… lies, lies, lies. The hard part is figuring out whose lies are to hide evil, death, to protect someone, or themselves.
Christie takes a job as a nanny for the summer in Austria with a couple, Robin and Paul, and their 15 year old son, Wyatt. As soon as the book begins things get weird and Christie realizes she’s not the only one with secrets. Robin and Paul are weirdly overprotective of their son and refuse her to take him out of the house. From there things start to unravel and the game is on to find out what and who is really being honest.
The book was pretty fast paced and it kept me reading to find out answers. Some of the twists were predictable and some were extremely far fetched. Also I did not find any of the characters very likable. I would have loved to learn more about Christa’s past to explain some holes in the story, but hopefully they will be answered in the books to come!
This is my first book I have read by this Author, but I will be exploring more.
Thank you to the author. Netgalley, and Bookouture for an ARC.
This book made me feel so many emotions! I just couldn’t put it down. Thank you NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read it. Such an awesome thriller. Had my heart pounding. Made me feel like if I was the one going thru it all.
The New Nanny is a great, twisty thriller and I never knew what was going to happen next! Christa is the new nanny for the Mayer family and is going to be in Austria for the summer to help take care of their 15 year old son Wyatt. The mom, Robin is depressed and refuses to let Christa take Wyatt out of the house to explore. As Christa learns a bit more about the family in her trips to town, she gets more concerned for her safety and that of Wyatt, especially after she learns the old nanny disappeared 7 years ago.
The book reads very quickly. While I felt some of the scenarios were rushed, overall I thought the characters were well developed. I really hope we get more backstory on Christa as she seems to have lived a very interesting life. If you are looking for a page turner, this book is a great one to pick up!
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
'some things can be forgiven, but they can never be forgotten. And some actions can never be undone'.
Christa is just a teenager when, deemed an unfit mother, her baby boy is wrenched away from her. Years later, after finally finding Wyatt, she's determined to be in his life. Feigning nanny experience Christa accompanies Wyatt's adoptive family, the Mayers, to Austria to look after him for the summer. Life has suddenly become a whole lot better. Christa disregards Robin Mayer's mood swings and strict rules prohibiting Wyatt to leave the house. She can overlook the fact that Paul Mayer never seems to be around but resents her when he is. And she's more than happy to engage with silent, withdrawn Wyatt - after all, that's why she is here. However, Wyatt was also the reason the last nanny was here and Christa discovers she actually disappeared without a trace. In a strange country, living with strangers, just who can she trust and how can she protect her son?
L.G Davis has packed many twists and turns into a relatively short book. Your presumptions are constantly challenged, as snippets of new information are revealed. I enjoyed reading this story and it's certainly been well set up for the next installment.
Wow ok. This book really took me by surprise. I did not see that twist coming! And I'm usually fairly good at guessing. This book is definitely a page turner and not predictable. I read this book in one sitting I just knew it was going to be a cracker. I saw that there is going to be a second book. If its anything like the first I'll be one clicking it
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Christa accepts a summer job as a live in nanny, in Austria to a very wealthy family, who need help with their son who is fifteen.
The mother Robyn does not want her son going out and is also not keen on Christa mixing with the locals. Christa soon realises this is not your average family. What secrets are they hiding?
As the story develops we discover Christa has her own reason for picking this particular family.
I really enjoyed the pace of this book, it had a good balance of twists and a few red herrings which kept me guessing.
I love books about Nanny's and Housekeepers thanks to Freida Mcfadden. This was a great read! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ it kept me fully engaged through the whole book. I'm very good at predicting books, so I was able to see what was coming but it didn't ruin it at all!
Thank you for a great read.
I had heard this book was good and similar to the style of Freida McFadden. Apart from that, I went into this blind.
The writing was fairly simplistic, so I got through it quickly. The story was interesting and kept my interest throughout. But it wasn’t gripping, and I saw the twists coming. Well, the twist. As I mentioned, I went in blind and only read the synopsis after the fact. Within the synopsis was what I thought was one of the twists at the middle (now I understand why it seemed fairly obvious).
I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to recommend it to anyone, but it would be a nice beach read, or something to bring on holidays. Something to entertain but doesn’t require much focus. I would be interested to read other books by this author to see if any are more of a thriller.
I give this 3 stars.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing me a copy of The New Nanny which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
I really enjoyed this book it reminded me of freida McFadden. I found some things to be predictable but still had me engaged. I am looking forward to reading the second book.
Thank you Bookouture and NetGalley for providing an advance copy in exchange for an honest review .
Christa has a new job in Austria looking after a couple and their fifteen year old son.
She hasn’t been truthful to her new employers and has gone to work for them with an ulterior motive.
A thriller with twist and turns that has you guessing as to what is really going on.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for my e-copy in exchange for an honest review.
L.G. Davis is an auto read author for me! I love all the past books and this was just as stellar! I love the author's ability to keep you not only guessing but involved the entire time. This book demands to be read in one sitting!
2.5⭐
This book was kind of good but the beginning was slow. She doesn't even know if that's her kid so that part was strange. Everything was extremely predictable for me.
This has been compared to The Housemaid and that's accurate. As it is just as good, maybe even a little better. Every ody has a secret and you won't know who or what to believe. I didn't breathe until the final word!
A clear stab at a story like Frieda McFaddens The House Maid.. This book was good though but it just feels too similar. Thanks for the arc.
This year has renewed my love for thrillers. I have read several that have excited me get me gripped and this is no exception. I loved this book!
I can usually get through thrillers fairly quickly, as I did with this which was impossible to put down and kept me up late at night wanting to finish it.
As this is Book 1, I'm so excited to read the next.
I could not put this book down, I read it in one sitting! I flew through the pages, having to know what happens next. I really enjoyed how the chapters ended with a cliffhanger. Sadly, the ending wasn't as satisfying as I wanted it to be. It ended much faster than I thought and felt a bit unresolved, so therefore I can't give it more than 3 stars.
I would like to thank L.G Davis and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

WOW WOW WOW, this is one of the best books I've read this year it's brilliant. I was glued to my kindle and couldn't turn the pages quickly enough. I can't wait to read more!!!!
I received an eARC of this book from NetGalley and the publisher..
“The New Nanny” is a thriller/mystery by LG Davis. I thought this book started out a bit slowly, then gained momentum as the book got rolling. This story has a number of twists (and red herrings), though I rather quickly figured out who did the deed, though I wasn’t quite sure why. This book is told in two points of view both present and past. I have to admit, one line really cut to my heart and while the person who wrote the line wasn’t my favorite character, that line just made me really not like that person at all. I know that this book is the beginning of a series and I’m interested in learning more about the main character’s background.
It had me on a rollercoaster throughout and i cant wait to get to the next book in the series.
4 stars
I wasn't sure what exactly to expect going into this novel. I tend to let myself go into thrillers pretty blindly. I will say that I enjoyed this story but the pacing was pretty off. It didn't pick up until the 46% mark. Which left the back half of the book jam packed with twists and turns. Overall it was an intriguing thriller that was reminiscent of 'Baby Teeth' & 'Verity'. I'd definitely read from this author again.
