The New Nanny was an interesting thriller that kept me moving forward and wanting to find out what happened. There were a lot of twists that I didn’t see coming, and that’s one of the things I look for in a book that I enjoy! Thank you for this early copy; I’m so glad I got a chance to read it.

The New Nanny by L.G. Davis is a psychological thriller page turner. I could not put this book down! Get ready for a roller coaster of twists and turns in this action packed plot. This book will keep you guessing, make you question what you were guessing, just to learn you had it all wrong! The only thing I wish was that the book description did not reveal that the boy in the book is her son. It was almost 50% into the book before that is revealed and that would’ve been an awesome jaw dropping revelation. This is my first book by L.G. Davis but definitely won’t be my last! If you’re looking for an easy read, with lots of plot twists, this book is for you!

Thank you Bookouture for the eARC read!

I want to start this review with saying that this was the first book I’ve bingeread non stop. I started at 6.30pm and didn’t stop until midnight.

Bye bye planned date night.
Hi hubby, who will read my kids’ bedtime story because mommy’s a little caught up right now.

I somewhere spotted this book on a group on Facebook that said ‘why aren’t more people talking about this author and this book?’ And YES, WHY AREN’T WE?

L.G. Davis made a great gripping pageturner that will make sure you will go through a thousand emotions per minute. It’s written exactly how it should be; too much detail and it’ll lose your concentration, too straight to the point and it’ll seem non professional: this thriller however was a perfect pace with excellent detail.

This thriller has a somewhat open ending, there will be a sequel coming. I am not sure if I’ll be reading the sequel. I didn’t feel the need for it to be necessary. This book had the potential to be a great stand alone with a perfect poetic finish. I am a reader who adores a cryptic ending that will make you wonder and sigh.

For the fans of the housemaid book by Freida McFadden, you’ll love this author even more.

Hype. It. Up. It’s worth it.

Every author has its charm and every reader is different, but for me; it’s time to move over, Freida. We’ve got a new winner in the building.

I thank the author and @netgalley for sending me this book in advance of the release date. It was an absolute pleasure to read.

The New Nanny (The Lies We Tell Book 1)

General Fiction (Adult) | Mystery & Thrillers
Rating: 3.75/5

L. G. Davis' The New Nanny has secrets, and everyone hides them. From the moment the story began, I knew I was in for an emotional roller-coaster ride as I followed the characters on their journey. I was captivated by the myriad of deceptions revealed. The suspense and anticipation of what would come next kept me enthralled throughout the chapters. The conclusion was shocking, and truly highlighted L.G. Davis' talent for crafting an unforgettable story.

Christa accepts a job with the Mayer household in Austria to care for Wyatt, 15, for the summer. Her arrival at their home is just the beginning of a series of mysterious and daring events that test the limits of Christa's employment.

Wyatt's mother, Robin, does not want him to leave the house, and even frowns at Christa stepping out. Despite Robin's strict rules, Christa is determined to explore Austria and slowly win Robin's trust by proving her responsibility and reliability. However, Robin's reluctance to let Wyatt out of the home remains a mystery. Robin insists that locals gossip a lot and says it is prudent to avoid them. It is only when Christa finds out that the former nanny has disappeared that she suspects something is amiss.

Thank you NetGalley, L.G. Davis and Bookouture for sharing this book with me. Your kindness is appreciated. I always look forward to reading and enjoying Davis' upcoming releases, and this one was no exception.

The New Nanny was a quick, twisty, and fun read!
Christa has a secret when she gets hired as a live-in nanny for the Mayers 15 year old son, Wyatt. What she doesn't know - the Mayers have even bigger secrets that they desperately want to stay hidden.
Robin, Wyatt's mother, does not want him leaving their home and gives Christa grief for wanting to leave. She blames it on the town's heavy gossip. But Christa is all too curious and takes it into her own hands! What happened to the previous nanny? Why is Robin so dead set on no one leaving the grounds? Why does she seem so cold and unmotherly? All of these questions lead us down a twisty path until the very last sentence!
I enioved multiple POV and how each chapter left you with a cliffhanger. There was no other option but to keep reading! I couldn't put this book down. Davis did a wonderful job with each character and their storylines. She was able to bring it all together in such a fun climax. I'm so excited for the next book to hopefuilv learn more about Christa. There was a lot that I want to know about her and her past! Wyatt is such a wildcard which I enjoyed.
All in all, this was a great read and I will not so patiently be waiting for the next book!

Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture, and L.G. Davis for the ARC! 🫶🏻

The book is set in Austria and an American Nanny fakes her qualifications and experience to land the job she really really wants, looking after a teenage boy called Wyatt. . She’s got her own agenda. The parents Robin and Paul have little or no interest in their son Wyatt and are frankly quite odd, they don’t want to spend any time with their son or seemingly with one another! Christa, the Nanny, wants to take Wyatt out and meet others his age but the parents seem wary or afraid of the villagers.

This is my first book by this author. Overall, I enjoyed the book. There are many twists and turns and although I guessed a few in advance I didn’t see the last big one coming maybe because it seemed a tad too far fetched?

None of the characters are exactly likeable, possibly because none of them are authentic, they all have their own secrets and their own agendas.
I found the initial part a bit slow and having worked as a nanny for a couple of years, I certainly wouldn’t have put up with the restrictions imposed upon Christa. However, about half way through the book, the pace picked up and I have to admit, I kept on page turning, keen to find out what was really going on and what we were going to discover next! There was a constant feeling of danger and evil throughout the book.

My thanks go to the author, L.G. Davis, to the publishers and to NetGalley for an advanced e-reader copy of this book. The views expressed in this review, however, are entirely voluntary and entirely my own.

Book Review 📚
The New Nanny by L.G Davis - 4.5/5 ⭐

Honestly. No words. There are not enough words in the English language to explain how AMAZING this book was. Phenomenal. Outstanding. Remarkable. Exceptional. Unparalleled. Nope, definitely not enough words.

The ENTIRE plot is fantastic. Following the plot throughout the book was such a breath of fresh air. It was such an interesting theme and it really had me hooked. I tried to be a know-it-all but that backfired, massively. Just save yourself some trouble and don't bother trying to guess, you won't get it.

The fact I finished this book 3 days ago and it's still on my mind, speaks volumes. I am in awe. I have not liked a thriller this much since 2019. The entire time I was on the edge of my seat. There are so many plot twists and it truly is a page turner. Davis has a pure talent. Please, do not stop.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookoture for allowing me to read this ARC - this is an HONEST review from my own personal opinion.

*ARC Review*

For fans of Freida McFadden, and Daniel Hurst.. I’ve found a new author for you! L.G Davis should also be an up and coming suspense author you don’t want to miss!

In “The New Nanny” we meet the Mayers family, and they’re new hired help. The Mayers are full of secrets.. but their seemingly perfect nanny is no better.
She faked her references, she lied about previous education/employers.. she did everything she could to make sure she was hired.. all to get close to Wyatt, their 15 year old son.

Once the Mayers whisk her off to Austria for a summer in their luxurious second home, things start to take a shocking turn.

This thriller was a quick read, the twists and turns left you constantly guessing. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for something new!

This was a slow burner - and I did wonder if it was going to have enough going on to keep me interested.
Christa goes to work for the strange Mayer family and their adopted son Wyatt. In a remote village in Austria. Almost kept prisoner Christa builds up a strong bond with Wyatt, often breaking the rules set by her employers to give him the freedom she thinks he needs.
But the Mayers have a big secret, but is it as big as Christa’s secret?
The twist at the end was absolutely belting and I most certainly did not expect it. A solid 4 stars, only dropping one because of the slow start!

Wow!!! I couldn’t put this book down!

I started the book thinking it was going to be a typical thriller book, one that you know the ending within the the 1st 100 pages. Not this one! The twist and turns keep going till the very end. The main character Christa is a very complicated person, one that you don’t know who she truly is. Is she the hero or the anti hero of her story? I still don’t know.
I look forward to reading the rest of this series to get to know who Christa is, more of her back story.
L.G Davis is an amazing storyteller and I’ll be adding the rest of her books to my tbr.

The New Nanny (The Lies We Tell Book 1)
by L.G. Davis
Pub Date: 11 Sep 2023

The New Nanny (The Lies We Tell #1) is a twisty psychological thriller that I was not able to put down! The twists just kept on coming again and again!!!… I devoured the book in one sitting!! It is
addictive, nail-biting, what an incredible story! I was not only shocked at the ending but sad for some of the characters.

Synopsis:

A forged reference and a fake social media page is all it takes to convince the Mayers I’m the perfect person to look after their son Wyatt. Some people would be scared to move to a remote mountain village with a family they’ve never met, but it’s exactly where I need to be. Because Wyatt is my child…

My sweet little boy was taken from me. There are dark secrets in my past that will stop me from ever getting Wyatt back, but now I’m his nanny, I’ll finally get to raise him like he’s my own.

Thank you #Bookouture, #Netgalley and #TheNewNanny for providing me with a copy of this E-ARC. The book will be available to purchase on Sept. 11, 2023.

I would like to thank L.G Davis, NetGalley, and Bookouture an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Christa moves to Austria for a new live in nanny position. She is there for a sole purpose that her employers know nothing about. Wyatt, their 15 year old son lives in the home along with his adoptive parents, Robin and Paul Mayer. Everyone in the household is strange to say the least. It appears not one of them wants to be around the other. Christa finds this very odd. While getting to know Wyatt, she starts to become leary of the Mayers and the secrets they keep.

I could not put this book down! I flew through the pages finding twists and turns. I enjoyed each chapter being left with a cliffhanger. Unfortunately, I felt the ending to be a little rushed. If you're a fan of Freida McFadden and Daniel Hurst, this one's for you.

A lot of the main plot points are already given away in the blurb so if you've not read that part yet, don't..... and just read the book instead! In saying that, there were still plenty twists and turns that weren't hinted at or given away in the blurb so either way it's a pretty twisty turny read! It's got mulitplie povs a d that works well in this story. I dont want to give anything else away so let's just say I read it In a day and can't wait for the next installment!

Christa is the new nanny for the Mayer family while they vacation in their second home in Austria. Her job is to take care of their 15 year old son, Wyatt, make meals, and tidy around the house. Christa instantly notices that Wyatt’s mother, Robin, locks herself in her room for most of the day and only comes out to inconvenience Christa. Wyatt’s father, Paul, is always working and never has time to spend with his son but when he is around, Wyatt seems scared of him.

Wyatt is a teenage boy who’s never allowed to leave the home because of the gossip the townspeople will share. Christa becomes curious about this gossip that Robin seems scared of so she seeks out the truth. She finds out that the nanny that worked in the house before her mysteriously disappeared which frightens Christa, but also, propels her to secretly investigate the family for the sake of her son’s safety.

I read the long synopsis of the book thinking that the biggest twists had already been revealed but there were jaw dropping surprises that I never saw coming. I loved the characters, even Robin and Paul who were overprotective but also scared for their son. The cliffhanger at the end makes me excited for the next book in series, The Nanny’s Child, where readers are given more of Christa and Wyatt. I hope it goes deeper into Christa’s past life but also her present life with Wyatt possibly lingering nearby…

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC.

This book was so hard to put down. The perfect fast paced thriller. I recommend going in totally blind to this book! I did and I think it made it even better. This was a page turner and I never knew what was going to come next. The loved the plot. A new nanny comes to help a family abroad after their last nanny goes missing. I loved how the main character had some secrets of her own. I love how each character had their own flaws and secrets.

The dual point of view worked for me. We had the perspective of Christa the nanny, who had some intentions of her own. There was also the perspective of Robins diary which gave us a sneak peak into her deep dark secrets. The new nanny and the family each have secrets and their own selfish intentions.

I read this whole book in less than 24 hours because I was so invested. The chapters are short which makes it easy to keep reading “just one more!”
