Thrillers set In a small town are my absolute favourite! This did not disappoint! So happy I got the opportunity to read this. So happy it was short charters , I think I’m thrilled novels it just build the tension so well! Who can Christa trust?!
The New Nanny feels like a 1970s gothic without the creepy shadows or suggestion of a ghost. The protagonist has been hired as a nanny to a wealthy couple's fifteen year old son. She's discouraged from leaving the house, and practically forbidden to take the teenager outside. The mother keeps herself locked in her room and the father is off working. It's not until halfway through the book (or in the first sentence of the book's description) that it's revealed why the nanny lied to get the job and is ignoring all of the warning signs. It's not until the last few pages that everything else is revealed, most of it out of the blue. As much as I love domestic thrillers and old fashioned gothics, I couldn't get excited about this one. The plot drags until those last few pages and the characters just weren't very interesting.
This book gave me such Freida Mcfadden vibes.
Christa finds the job as a nanny for the Mayer family and she moves to Austria. She is there with an intent that her employers know nothing about. Wyatt, their 15 year old son lives in the home along with his adoptive parents, Robin and Paul Mayer. The family is really strange. It appears not one of them wants to be around the other. Christa finds this very odd. While getting to know Wyatt, she starts to become dubious of the Mayers and the secrets they keep. It was a fast paced book and almost unputdownable.
The New Nanny by L.G Davis is the first book in the new The Lies We Tell series and what an excellent book this was. I was gripped from the beginning till the end especially as it had great twists and turns and a good storyline. Before I knew it the birds we singing outside my window and I had finished the book. A excellent book.
I am looking forward getting my teeth into the second instalment tomorrow.
Big Thank you to Netgalley and especially Bookouture for my Arc copy.
First sentence: Not a single word.
These four words set the tone for L.G. Davis' book The New Nanny - unease, secrets, characters hiding their intentions, past life and actions. It's obvious not everything is how it seems. I had an ominous feeling that Austria wasn't going to be a place where the hills were full of music for Christa and this family.
Its been a long time since I read a book in one day, but the New Nanny reeled me in. It's the kind of book where everyone has a secret and you have an idea of what's going to happen, but not completely. The nanny, the parents, the friend - what's their truth. Who could Christa (the nanny) trust? What is she hiding?
I enjoyed the alternating point of views (Christa and Robin) and the addition of Robins diary. All of the views added to the suspense and had the reader guessing who did what.
This was my first book from L. G. Davis and I have to admit that I'm already looking for book #2 The Nannys Child to learn what comes next.
Many thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for a powerful read. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good mystery that keeps you guessing.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC. Unfortunately it wasn’t for me. It was too slow and I DNF at 20%.
I absolutely love thrillers and The New Nanny didn’t disappoint! I’m looking forward to the next in this series, The Nanny’s Child.
Such a great book! Great plot, great characters and lots of suspense. I never knew what was going to happen. Never saw it comin. I would love to read the sequel. I need to know how this ends up.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read The New Nanny by L.G. Davis. This book had all the twists, hidden dark secrets, and family drama. I am not ashamed to say I ate all of it up like Reece’s on Halloween. It had a bit of a slow start, which I actually like and do not mind at all. It set the scene for what was to come later in the book. Due to the secrets in Christa’s past not all coming to light in The New Nanny, I must read book 2, The Nanny’s Child. If you want a gripping domestic thriller, look no further. The ending is a bit chilling, too!

Happy reading, y’all! 📚❤️📚
Rated 4 ⭐️
This book was full of twists and turns. The synopsis gives you an idea what the book is about, but it's so much more. I was pleasantly surprised with the way the story develops.
Everyone in the book has the secret they are hiding and we don't know exactly what they are until almost the very end. The chapters are short and leave you wanting to read the next one, because who wants to leave on a cliffhanger. Not only do the chapters end that way, but the books ending does the same thing.... so many questions need to be answered.
This book definitely leaves you wanting more. I want, no I NEED, to read the second book. This is my first book by L.G. Davis, but it won't be my last.
Thank you to Netgalley and L.G. Davis for this free ebook. This opinion is 100% my own and honest opinion.
Reading Between the Wines book review #122/115(met goal in Sept!) for 2023:

Book: The New Nanny
Author: L.G. Davis

Sipping thoughts: I read this book not realizing that this is the beginning of a series. I like it as a standalone and am not sure if I would like to continue the story. There were definite surprises in the story and it did not end as I thought it would. I knew for sure one of the twists but was expecting more of some pieces that were just left unanswered.
Cheers and thank you to @Bookouture and @Netgalley for an advanced copy of @TheNewNanny.

"[...] You’ve got to get out of there. Don’t let the same thing happen to you. [...]"
I literally don't know how to write this. "The New Nany" by L.G. Davis, this is a brilliant story that keeps you in suspense until the last page. Wow! This author is amazing. I like her mind. I definitely need to read her other books.
Here I had to deal with such twists and turns that I still get chills. I didn't expect such an ending. I'm scared. I hope that soon I will be able to read about Christa's further fate.
Every chapter of this story is very exciting.
If you like strong psychological thrillers, you've come to the right place. The author writes in a language that is understandable to every reader.
Christa is the new nanny for fifteen-year-old Wyatt. His parents, Robin and Paul Mayer, are very strange. They don't take care of their son, they don't devote time to him. Why? All four from the U.S.A. they fly to their home in Austria. There, our Christa receives a mysterious note containing a warning. This house hides a dark secret. Will s
he discover this secret before it's too late?
This story captivated me from the very beginning. I read this thriller in one day. I literally couldn't stop reading. I would like to thank the author for the emotions and amazing plot twists. I liked Christa and was very worried about her.
I would love to see "The New Nany" on the big screen. I recommend this great thriller.

L.G. Davis brought all the twisted, evil, wicked drama here and I ate it up like caramel popcorn on Halloween...
The New Nanny follows Christa, who has accepted a nanny position for the Mayer family. The post includes looking after their teen son, Wyatt, and some light housework duties, cooking and cleaning for the family.
The pay is great, she'll get some free-time, and Christa has a special interest in this particular child. The catch is, she has move to a remote mountain village in Austria to take it.
It's an easy decision for Christa and before she knows it, she's there, settling into the Mayer's lavish home.
Christa quickly notes that the family dynamic is a little off. The mom, Robin, whose perspective we also get at times, seems emotionally troubled, and she has very strict and specific rules for Wyatt, such as he isn't supposed to leave the house. The Dad, for his part, is rarely present.
Christa is uncomfortable with the Mayer's treatment of their son. They hardly interact with him at all. Christa is determined to shower this boy with all the love he needs. Christa was already a bit on edge around the Mayers, but then she hears the rumors about the disappearance of their last nanny. Could these people actually be dangerous?
It's a race against time to figure out the truth about the Mayer family. Are Christa and Wyatt in danger? Christa needs to get to the bottom of this years old disappearance and get herself and Wyatt to safety, if need be.
With the help of a new friend, Christa digs in, risking everything to get the truth. Hold on to your hats because, oh baby, does this get intense. Talk about a nail biter!
I had so much fun reading this. It's wildly entertaining and I found L.G. Davis's writing style to be engaging and addictive. In fact, I had so much fun with it, I purchased a copy of the second book immediately upon finishing this. I wasn't done with these characters, or Davis's fun, fast-paced, intriguing plots. There's no way I was waiting to get more of Christa's story. It would feel like abandoning a friend if I were to leave her now!
This was one of those types of stories where you get way more invested than you anticipated you would. I was getting so into it, yelling at the characters, shaking my head, telling my dog all about it. This seriously surprised me. It was such a delight to read; pure fun. Sometimes you just need this type of engaging, OTT-Popcorn Thriller. It's not perfect, but who cares? Seriously, when you're having this much fun, who cares?
Thank you to the publisher, Bookouture, for providing me with a copy to read and review. I am looking forward to following L.G. Davis's work from here on out. I'm a fan!
Sad that it was given and then archived so quickly. I'm always a sucker for a psychological thriller that involves a nanny.
What a twisty, turny story!!! I had to keep reading to see how it ended, and then to be left on a cliffhanger? Highly recommend, good read.
Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for allowing me to read this ARC.
The New Nanny
By: L. G. Davis
4⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A fast- paced thriller about a lady who becomes a nanny. Christa has done everything to prepare for this job as a baby which she believes will have her caring for the son Wyatt she thought was dead.
Sadly his parents do not pay attention to him and he is withdrawn. Wyatt is not aloud to go into town or have anyone over. He is very isolated and at the age of 15 that is difficult. As Christa draws Wyatt out of his shell he warms up to her.
Adding to the story is their former nanny is missing and the towns people think the parents had something to do with her disappearance.
When she shares her secret, all he$$ breaks loose. I was excited to see there is another novel called The Nanny’s Child and will read this one soon.
Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for this advanced copy out of Sept.

It took me a little to get into this book. I think I read the first chapter quite a few times. I finally decided to commit to this book today and I’m so happy I did. I finished it by the end of the day, completely binge worthy. I loved all the twists but also the storyline along the way. The building of the plot made the book enjoyable and it also helped the build up towards the end. As for the end, wow, so twisty!!! A solid 4.5 stars but rounding up because I would definitely recommend this one if you’re into suspense!
First time with this author, certainly not the last. Quick readcand totally satisfying. Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book
This is quite hard to review as I'm not entirely sure how I feel about #TheNewNanny. Initially I will do what I always do and give a TRIGGER warning of miscarriage as I believe it to be important.
Then, although I did enjoy the story, it did have one of my biggest peeves when it come to books. I like to feel that we know that main character, we are their diary of some sorts, maybe in co-horts with them so when we, as readers do not know their full story, or even being lied to directly I find it a bit odd, as I like to take it as face value what I know of them is true. One strange example of this is some quite important info explained about our main character that is in the blurb, so I was assuming it would be common knowledge from the start, however, this was kept from readers until around 1/3 into the book, it just felt a bit wierd really.
Then finding something else out right at the end that was a lie, it felt quite irrelevant, so not sure what this information was even lied about in the 1st place?
There are questions still unanswered which I assume will be resolved in the 2nd book which I am keen to read as id like to know the outcome so it can't have been all bad if I'm happy to read the next book, it just didn't gel well with me unfortunately.
Thank you #NetGalley for the copy and I have rounded 3.5stars to 4stars
Go into this blind...do not read the blurb as the only twist was one I luckily missed by not reading the blurb. And it was very good! It was a very fast paced read and i enjoyed it, however it ended way too quickly. I felt everything was too tied up and while a quick fast paced read needed a bit more depth after the twist.
Thanks to Netgalley and publisher for my advanced copy
