This book kept me on my toes and had me flipping pages with so much speed! I generally love books about nannies, au pairs, any kind of childcare provider of the affluent or wealthy people in books so I knew I was going to love this book, BUT THE PREMISE (swipe to read the synopsis)WAS EXECUTED SO WELL WITH SUCH A NEW AND REFRESHING TWISTS!
4.5⭐️
Special thanks to netgalley and @bookouture for the privilege to read and review this book for its publication day!!
A good book. But trigger warning JT contains miscarriage. So if this a trigger for people. Maybe don't read it. It is about a nanny who goes to look after an american families children but is set in austria. Everyone jn the book has secrets. Everyone is lying and you dont know what the truth is. Good to keep you guessing along the way.
This was a good thriller. It wasn’t one of my favorites but it wasn’t bad. It was a little slow in the middle but there definitely were a few twists that I didn’t predict!
Love, love, love books by L.G Davis & this one didn't disappoint! Can't wait to ready the 2nd book!!!
TRIGGER WARNING: miscarriage
Christa starts a new job as housekeeper and nanny for the Mayer family in Austria. But she finds the role bizarre as the child is 15 year old Wyatt, she is banned from visiting the village and the last nanny disappeared in mysterious circumstances and has never been found...
The New Nanny is a psychological thriller about an American family and nanny, set in Austria.
Robin Mayer is recovering from a miscarriage. Her husband is a workaholic. Their son barely acknowledges either of them. There is huge tension and emotion in the house and they hire Christa to cook, clean and care for them all. Their previous nanny vanished and the police have been unable to find a single trace of her. But Christa has been keeping secrets too and the author drops hints about her past.
Most of the book is written from Christa's first person perspective. There is a claustrophobic feel to the book as the characters are mostly confined to the house. A few chapters are written from Robin's viewpoint in the present or as journal entries from the past. Paul's character is very minimally involved and I don't feel we got to know him at all.
Christa does manage to make one friend from the village but she is keeping secrets from him and I had the feeling that all might not be what it seems with him either. There are some big twists (one of which is revealed in the blurb so read at your peril!) and I saw them coming but that did not spoil my enjoyment of the plot developments.
The New Nanny is an entertaining and tense psychological thriller and the next book in 'The Lies We Tell' series is out now!
Addictive and gripping. This book is very fast paced with loads of twists . Fantastic would definitely recommend.
I wasn’t bored by any means. Davis did a good job with setting the story up in a way that left you wanting more. Just when I thought I had things all figured out I would be completely wrong but in the best of ways.
Fast paced, enjoyable popcorn thriller! Nothing super special but it was packed full of action, twists I didn’t see coming, and drama. Fun read!
The New Nanny
Omg, chills y’all! I knew this would be a good one from the blurb alone.
Why did she originally lose her son? What is going to do to get him back? Who are these people that have him? What’s wrong with them? What happened to the last nanny!?!
These questions will keep you turning the pages. I liked the narrator and felt like I. Needed. The. Answers.
Solid 4.3!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Just fantastic! Gripping. Fast paced. Absolutely packed with twists. Loved this one. I was gripped from the very 1st page. This book has lots of twists and turns that had me turning the pages and I couldn't put it down. I'm looking forward to book two to see what happens next!
Christa gets a job as a nanny to a rich couple & travels to their luxurious home in Austria. Although she is supposed to be a nanny, her charge, Wyatt, is actually a teenage boy. He is the reason she schemed so hard to get the position as she believes he is the son who was taken from her & adopted when she was a young teen. His mother Robin is recovering from losing a baby, his father seems to work all the time & although they seem to have little interest they want to stop him from leaving the grounds & are not wild about Christa mixing with the locals either. What are they hiding & how can Christa get her son back?
This was an interesting premise for a story. I did struggle a bit with the character of Christa, somehow I didn't gel with her. It was a good enough read for me to want to read the sequel. Thanks to Netgalley & the publisher for letting me read & review this book. I'd give it 3.5 stars, rounding it up to 4.
Wow what a book! Just fantastic! Gripping. Fast paced. Absolutely packed with twists. Loved this one. Did not want it to end even as I was racing through it, eager to know what happened next. A really really good read.
Wow what a read this book was. I wasn’t sure what to expect from this book, it’s the first one of L.C. David books that’s I’ve read and it didn’t disappoint.
To begin with it looks like someone told a few white lies to get a job as a nanny for a family in Switzerland but boy is it a lore more complex than that.
It is set in a lovely village in Switzerland that gives us the reader a lovely background to a story that isn’t all that it seems.
Once Christa hears rumours of the disappearance of her employer’s previous nanny, she turns detective to discover the truth and protect the young boy she is paid to look after.
So many twists and turns happen throughout this book, that it’s hard to put down as you need to know what happens next.
I’m already looking forward to reading “The Nanny’s Child”, especially after how this book ended.

>> I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review <<
The New Nanny was fantastic. I was expecting good things after reading the description but it was even better than I had imagined. I loved the setting, I loved the characters and I loved all the twists and turns. There was nothing I could fault about it.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for my ARC.
3.5/5 rounded to four stars. this novel is a fast paced thriller with a crazy ending! One that you might not see coming.
Christa moves to Austria to be a nanny/housekeeper to a fifteen year old boy Wyatt. his parents Robert and Paul are a strange couple. The town avoids them, but why? They seem nice enough to Christa. What went on in this town when they visited before?
You will not be able to stop reading until you hit the end of this story. It does wrap of quickly but if you like Frieda Mcfadden it is in a very similar vein.
I would to thank netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC!
I'm not sure how I feel about this one. The first paragraph of the book is one long sentence. It immediately put me on guard. A nanny with a hidden past travels to Austria to take care of a 15 year old? Kinda odd but ok. The kid and parents were so creepy. The positive is that this book puts you on edge in a good way with all the secrecy looming. I was always waiting for the other shoe to drop. I'm still not sure how I feel about the ending. I do have the next book, The Nanny's Child, so I'll have to see how that one goes. Maybe then I will figure out what I really think of this book.

BLOG TOUR REVIEW
Review for 'The New Nanny' by L.G Davis.
Read and reviewed via NetGalley for L.G Davis, Bookouture publishers and Bookouture anonymous
Publication date 11th September 2023.
This is the third book I have read by this author. I have also read 'Liar Liar' and 'The Missing Widow' which I would also highly recommend.
This novel consists of 42 chapters and an epilogue. The chapters are short to medium in length so easy to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!
This book is extremely well written with vivid descriptions that really set the scene and kept me on the edge of my seat. The cover and synopsis suited the storyline perfectly.
OMG!!! MIND ABSOLUTELY BLOWN!!!!
I absolutely love, LOVE, LOVED this absolute page turner!! This book is extremely fast paced and kept me on the edge of my seat throughout. It was one of those true gems where if you had to put it down you had to race back as soon as you could to find out what was going to happen next. The plot is unique which is always a bonus after reading so many psychological thrillers. The storyline is absolutely ram packed with mystery, deceit, secrets, lies, romance, tension, loss, heartache, suspense and OMG the twists just kept on coming again and again!!! Just when I thought everything that could happen had happened BOOM there was another shocker around the corner. Every time I kept telling myself one more chapter the one I was in ended at a point where there was no way I could stop reading so I absolutely devoured it in one sitting!! I WAS absolutely blown away and considering I read approximately 30 books a month that is certainly no easy feat so a HUGE congratulations on that Liz!! I absolutely loved the beautiful setting and scenery of Austria when the reader managed to leave the house with Christa to visit the local area. This is one of those fantastic books that have a small amount of characters but those characters you are constantly left doubting and questioning as you have no idea who has done what, who is hiding what and what they are really after. I just did not want to put this book down as I just had to know what was really going on and I never could have come anywhere near to working this one out!!! I absolutely LOVED how it ended and I cannot wait to get stuck into the next book in this fantastic series which is called 'The Nanny's Child' and I am actually off to read next so keep your eyes peeled for my review of that which will be coming soon!!! I really could not recommend this book any more. If you are looking for something unique, filled with suspense that will leave you guessing and that will blow your mind then this is definitely the book for you!!
DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT READING THIS UNTIL YOU HAVE CLEARED YOUR SCHEDULES AS YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PUT IT DOWN!!!
I wasn't just 100% invested in the storyline but also in the characters. Each and every one of the characters were well defined, realistic and strong. Unfortunately I am not going to be able to say much at all about them as I don't want to run the risk of giving anything away. What I will say is that how I felt for each of them throughout the storyline definitely changed constantly and there were feelings of sympathy, anger, sickening, disbelief and so much more that I felt towards some of them at different times!!! It is one of those books that leaves you questioning who to trust, who is telling the truth and who is playing a game. There were one or two characters that I absolutely disliked but then you can't love everyone especially in a psychological thriller otherwise it wouldn't be much fun would it!! Needless to say they all worked perfectly together to make this page turner as amazing as it is!!! I am definitely looking forward to meeting up with a couple of them in 'The Nanny's Baby' as I cannot wait to see what they get up to next!!!!
Another HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to L.G Davis on what promises to be yet another massive best seller!!! I WAS absolutely shocked by so many explosive twists!!! This is why your on my favourite author list Liz and here's to your next explosive success 🥂!!!
Make sure you read to the very end of the book to read the prologue of L.G Davis's 'Liar Liar' which is just as addictive as this book and another amazing book by L.G Davis that I would highly recommend!!
Overall an absolutely addictive, mind blowing page turner that will keep you up with a racing heart until you've finished!!!
288 pages.
This book is just 99p to purchase on kindle, free with kindle unlimited (at time of review) and £8.99 in paperback on Amazon which I think is an absolute bargain for this book!!!

I love a book that throws you into the mayhem from the get-go. This is Book 1 in the series and it’s one good psychological page turner. A fast paced intriguing storyline that gives you the important information as and when it’s needed. The storyline is cleverly written and the characters are well developed so much so that you really don’t know who to trust. Each character gives you a feeling of unease and you can’t turn the pages fast enough to find out what they’re hiding. Some extremely likeable and others you wouldn’t give the time of day. Great twists and turns along the way. Really looking forward to the next instalment.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read and review #TheNewNanny
