This is a good book. The two main characters are Sunny and Carter. There is an instant attraction. Sunny is a librarian. Carter co-owns a brewery. Carter is doing an investigation and needs Sunny’s help. They each have issues but together they work them out and fall in love.

This is the second book in the Love on Tap series. This was a new-to-me author and I’m so glad I had the chance to read her book. This grumpy vs sunshine romance was full of witty banter and lots of fun to read. The characters were likable and perfect for each other. It was easy to read and the suspense kept my attention. I laughed the entire book and look forward to reading more books in the future by this author. If you enjoy opposites-attract romances that are light and full of laughter; this is the perfect book for you.

Sunny, sunshiney, awkward librarian Sunny, has just run headlong into a wall of brooding man. Carter will be the perfect man to help her with her crush on Sebastian. Fake dating to make someone jealous can't possibly go wrong. Right?

Carter's come back home, his political career in tatters. His family owns a bar, and now he's back here to help them, lick his wounds, and possibly figure out his life. Never did he think his new life would entail some fake dating to help the librarian make her crush jealous. But he has more to worry about than just his feelings for Sunny, because that same career in ruins has followed him home and is watching him. Can he keep his family and Sunny safe? And perhaps figure out way to resolve the very thing that was taken from him?

I wouldn't think it would be possible for a rom-com to also have some good old fashioned suspense, but Smooth Hoperator has just that. It's quirky, fun and crazy, with characters like Duke with his conspiracy theories, but it has enough suspense that it grounds all the shenanigans. I've loved this series so far, and I'm now impatiently waiting for Miller's story. I have a feeling about that guy...

A quirky librarian meets Superman. There is some action mixed in this romance book, some “CIA” operations going on, some steam, and some cute stuff.

This is the second book in the series however, it could be read as a standalone!

The beginning of this story hooked me. It was interesting and I felt the author pulling me with the writing style.
I did enjoy the read, however, there were some things that simply irked me and did not click with me. Especially the second half of the book and the ending ruined it for me.

Overall the story could have been more chiseled and just presented differently this one was a bit bland for my taste and felt rushed and the whole “thriller” bit just felt out of place and it made me cringe a bit.
I also found Sunny a tad annoying at times and Carter was the stereotypical Superman sexy god that every woman drools over. Not that I have an issue with this trope but still meh.

The writing style of the author was really good fast-paced and easy to follow, I did like the steamy scenes and honestly, I would have enjoyed it so much more had this been strictly a romance book without all the other stuff that was going on in the background with Knuckles and Duke and all the politicians, and Sebastian (probably the most annoying character)…

So in conclusion, liked it but I was disappointed. Still would recommend it though.

I received an ARC of this in exchange for my honest review.

What has political intrigue and conspiracy, a librarian, a brew master and the SLOWEST slow burn....this book! Such a good read that includes slow burn, grumpy sunshine, one bed, fake dating and more.

This is book two in a series, and I can't wait to see what else happens to the Brooks Brothers!

Bring your sense of humor and open your heart cause love just got interesting. Stewart takes romance more than a little over the top. From sweet to ironic to unpredictable, Smooth Hoperator refuses to take itself too seriously. Carter and Sunny are adorably flawed and irresistibly fun.

Unfortunately, this book did nothing for me. There were just too many areas that I found lacking to be enjoyable.

I don’t know why all librarians are shown as having no fashion sense, or worse, as dressing overtly sexually. Just because people like to read, or like books, does not mean that they are clueless in other areas of life.

Carter was patronizing, I felt bad for Sebastian and his unrequited love, and I found the Manic Pixie Dream Girl elements odd.

Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this book in return for my honest review.

Smooth hoperator by stylus Stewart release July 2003. This was an asshole user of a man and a naive librarian. I disliked this male character so much.

The second book in this series, the story of Carter and Sunny. A fast paced read with some interesting characters. I liked how it was told from both points of view and can't wait for the next book to see what happens!

This is the second book in the series. This book is hilarious. I laughed from beginning to end. I really loved Sunny. I so could see being friends with her. She loves books obviously being a librarian and then she loves yarn as much as I do. One of my favorite parts of the book and made me laugh a lot is her grandpa Duke. He loves hos conspiracy theories and that's why Carter seeks out his help. I love small town romances and the over the top goofy characters. They just suck me into the book. Carter and Sunny come up with an arrangement that helps each other out, but this fake relationship is going to start to feel all too real. Sunny really loves up to her name and Carter thinks she isn't for him, but he realizes there are so many hidden depths to Sunny that make her all the more appealing. A book with animals in it is usually always a winner for me and this book was no exception. This book also has a touch of suspense surrounding why Carter needs Duke's help.

I can’t resist a librarian character in a romance, well, in almost any genre, actually! This one was cute, and I think I want to read more!

I really enjoyed this second book in Sylvie Stewart’s Brooks family series. Carter and Sunny were such fun characters to get to know, and there was an intriguing enough mystery to keep the story moving along. I’d love to read more from this author!

This five star read is the second book in the Love on Tap Series about a family that runs a microbrewery in North Carolina. If you read Book One: Ale’s Fair in Love and War, you will come into this book with a sense of the mystery about Carter’s return and his role as resident grump. Even if this is your first entry into this series, you’ll find everything you need to jump right into this story.

This book is a fun change from the typical all bright and sparkly rom coms that I have been reading lately, because in addition to the Fake Dating, Road Trip, Only one bed, MMC as Grump and FMC as Sunshine, there is an element of suspense at the heart of this book around what caused Carter’s quick flight from DC back home and resulted in him leaving everything, including his job as a rising political aide to take on the unpaid job of Brewmaster for his brother’s Pub. This gives depth and tension to a story that could so easily have been a cookie cutter rom com. Because of this, there are some wonderfully rich moments of storytelling that connect this book to the ‘real world’ and reflect on the price of a life in politics and the dangers that unethical business can exert on those with less moral fiber than Carter. As he attempts to unravel the forces that cost him his career, Carter meets the always sunny and hysterically low filter Sunny at the library, and eventually meets her Grandfather Duke on the Dark Web as a contact in his investigation -- Don’t ask, you’ll have to read the book for more because Duke is one of the best secondary characters I have read this year and the rascal steals every scene he’s in even if it’s just a phone call.

Filled with tension and humor, not to mention the best banter and sexy scenes I’ve read this year, this wonderful mash up of a great suspensful rom com about two people that circumstances brought together will leave you smiling. It’s always fun to watch a grump have to face the idea that there is a person out there who makes them sit back and wonder why, despite everything that is happening around them, they are smiling. For Carter, this is Sunny, and once he understands what he is really looking for, he knows that he has to stop trying to hook her up with Man Bun Next Door and just give up his Grump!.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Eh this was a little more of a romantic suspense than anything.

Reminded me why I normally Don’t read small town romances; they’re always filled with goofy over the top characters. There’s a paranoid grandpa, a vegan hippie love interest living in the garage, fmc is a virgin librarian- and someone has a pet skunk. It just wasn’t my jam 🤷‍♀️
