This book is slightly different than I had imagined it going. I really enjoyed the creepy atmosphere of this one, but the story threw me for a loop just a little. I was expecting more of a haunting... not just of the past, though it does say that in the synopsis.

It's a fast-paced, keep you at the edge of your seat thriller that leaves you questioning everything. Great for fans of the movie 𝑺𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒎.

This was my first Natasha Preston book, but it won't be my last. Preston is a great storyteller who keeps you engaged at every turn of the page

I feel like this book was slow in the get go but really draws you in the deeper you get! A great horror story written surrounding Halloween! I did feel like it ended on a cliff hanger..... will there be more to follow!?

A year ago, a brutal string of murders shocked a small community. When one of their own was arrested for the gruesome crimes, the killers own children were led to fend for themselves in a hostile town.

Now, a year later, another teen shows up dead. And another.

Is it a copycat?

Is it the son and daughter of the original killer or someone else?
This is what Penny and her group of friends must figure out.

Not a bad YA thriller. Reminiscent of the Scream movies.

The teenagers act predictably foolish in their choices, the town panics, people point fingers.

Not a fan of the cliffhanger, when the twist was sufficient enough.

This was my first read with this author. I thought there was a lot of details for everything and almost repeated a lot information most of the time. It took me awhile to get into it but once I was 30% in I couldn’t put it down. I enjoyed the book up until the end. Not a fan of cliffhangers.

I'd like to thank netgalley and the publishers for the m this ARC in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

This is my first Natasha Preston book and it lived up to the hype, including the CliffHanger. This was so fun and perfect for the Halloween season. I did not guess the whodunit or why they did it. In fact, I didn't see any of the twists coming. My only pitfall is the ending, but that could really just be a personal preference for epilogues.

A perfect spooky read. I was invested in the story and really enjoyed the writing style. I have read a few other of Natasha Preston’s book and this one is on par with the others.

I give this read 5 stars. Natasha Preston is an amazing storyteller. In this book Penny is haunted by her past. She is also scared of the future. There are numerous twists and turns that will have you hooked until the end!

PERFECT book for Spooky Season, This kept me guessing and sent chills down my spine. All her books hit the mark for me and this one was right up there at the top.

Ok. So. This is a perfect fall/autumn book; a serial killer on the loose, a corn maze, costumes, running around the place. But gah, that ending! I don't know if Natasha is planning a second one or if that's just where it's ending, but either way, it's very irritating.

However! I loved the story and characters; I didn't want to put the book down as I was reading, because I really wanted to find out whodunnit and what was going to happen; I did suspect the actual killer, but as I suspected everyone at one point or another I'm not sure that's much of an accomplishment! If it weren't for that (cliffhanger) ending this would score much higher on my scale.

Read it for the Hallowe'en vibes, just be aware of the ending.

I really love everything that I have read by Natasha Preston, but man she leaves EVERYTHING on a cliffhanger. I found myself chucking my kindle at the wall because I was angry and had so many questions. I enjoyed the story and I flew through it, but I think that the ending was rushed and left a lot to be desired. This one is not my favorite by this author, but I would still recommend it if you like books with twists and turns the whole way! I loved how easy this book was to read and I would definitely recommend to anyone that loves the other books Natasha Preston has written. I cannot wait to see the next book that she puts out!

Another fantastic thriller from natasha. This was a great Halloween read, super fast paced and easy to get through. It's been a year since Nash and graces father was sent to prison for unaliving several kids. And now so close to the anniversary its happening all over again. Penny is worried that Nash will be blamed, but the truth comes out in a shocking twist at the end. I was able to guess who it was, but it was still a great read! Highly recommend for those that love thrillers and don't mind open ended endings.

Thank you Net Galley for this advance reader copy in exchange for my honest and free review. While this was actually a decent storyline, the jumps from one demeanor to another red like a bi-polar scenario. I was confused and frustrated with the sway back and forth depending on the situation. At one point I wondered if this was more of a young adult novel. Decent, but not great.

THE HAUNTING is a fast paced thriller told from the point of view of the murderers son’s ex girlfriend. As Penny, the ex girl friend struggles with her feelings toward Nash, the son, another murder takes place. Is there a copycat murderer on the loose? This book has lots of twists and turns that keep you guessing. It was an OK read. An advance reader copy was provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

The Haunting was one of favorite books by Natasha Preston. She knocked it out of the park. It kept me on the edge of my seat. Fast pace thriller that you will not see the ending coming. Great read for the Halloween season.

Thank you Netgalley for this Advance readers copy.

I just finished reading "The Haunting" by Natasha Preston, and oh my gosh, it was so freaking creepy! I mean, I love a good horror story, but this one had me sleeping with the lights on.

The main character, Penny, is so relatable. She's trying to figure out what's going on in her town, and I was right there with her, trying to piece together the clues. The supporting characters are also super well-developed. I loved how the author showed how everyone was dealing with their own stuff while also trying to survive this supernatural threat.

The pacing was perfect. It wasn't too fast or too slow. It was like a rollercoaster ride - slow build-up, and then BAM! Something crazy would happen, and I'd be like, "Whoa, did not see that coming!"

The setting was also super eerie. I mean, a small town with a dark history? Sign me up! The author did an amazing job of creating this creepy atmosphere that had me on edge the whole time.

Now, I know some people might say that some parts were predictable, but honestly, I didn't care. The journey was so much fun that I didn't mind if I saw some things coming. Plus, there were still some surprises that caught me off guard.

I would totally recommend "The Haunting" to anyone who loves horror. It's a great read for Halloween or any time you want to get spooked. Just, you know, maybe don't read it alone in the dark. Unless you're like me and enjoy being scared senseless! 😂
