Unfortunately I was unable to download this book before the archive date, so I'm not able to leave a review. I look forward to reading and reviewing books by this author in the future.

This was a great read for anyone who enjoys romance, music and well-written yet immensely readable fiction. I found myself invested in the plot and characters and was somewhat sad when the book ended- always a great sign.

This was a fun read! I was good, but I definitely could put it down. I think if you are a music lover, or you really enjoyed Daisy Jones and the Six this would be a really fun read for you! I'd say this was a solid 3 star read for me.

This book has been on my Netgalley for a bit and I haven’t picked it up. I haven’t been into women’s fiction in a minute, so I’m not the right person to review it anymore.

A heartfelt ode to love, music, and second chances.
Rochelle B. Weinstein’s What You Do To Me is a lyrical and deeply moving exploration of love, loss, and the timeless power of music to heal even the most broken hearts. Through a captivating blend of journalism, nostalgia, and soul-stirring romance, Weinstein crafts a story that resonates long after the final page.
At its heart is Cecilia James, a journalist with a penchant for love songs and a crumbling relationship of her own. When a clue to the identity of the muse behind one of rock’s greatest hits lands in her lap, she embarks on an assignment for Rolling Stone that becomes much more than a story. What she uncovers is a poignant tale of two star-crossed lovers: Eddie Vee, a legendary rock star who once poured his heart into songs for his first love, Sara Friedman, and Sara herself, now thousands of miles and a lifetime removed from their shared past.
As Cecilia delves into Eddie and Sara’s world, she pieces together the story of a love that was both transformative and tragic. Eddie has retreated into anonymity, while Sara has built a life far from the dreams they once shared. Through her quest to uncover the truth, Cecilia becomes a catalyst for their reconnection, even as she grapples with her own shattered notions of love.
Weinstein’s storytelling is beautifully evocative, weaving themes of resilience, forgiveness, and the enduring power of a single melody. Each character feels deeply human, their vulnerabilities and hopes drawing readers into their journeys. The novel’s exploration of how music immortalizes emotion adds a rich layer of nostalgia, making it as much a celebration of art as it is a love story.
What You Do To Me is more than just a tale of romance; it’s a testament to the redemptive power of connection and the belief that even the deepest wounds can heal. Perfect for fans of bittersweet love stories and the transformative magic of music, Weinstein’s novel is an unforgettable serenade to the heart.

I love Rochelle B. Weinstein's books and this one is no exception! In writing this book she was able to weave together so many intricate themes and emotions, making it much more than just a simple love story. The exploration of missed opportunities and the choices made on our behalf adds a layer of complexity that many readers can relate to. It's fascinating how she navigates the gray areas of life and relationships, offering a sense of hope and redemption even in the most challenging situations.
Told through the dual timelines of journalist Cecilia James life. We see how her childhood choices influenced her life as an adult. This helps the character to be more likeable because her choices as an adult are sometimes questionable. As her past and present collide, she uncovers hidden truths and challenges the bonds between characters. In the present time she is determined to uncover what happened to rock star Eddie Vee and his muse Sara Friedman. The story has a rich tapestry of time and place, using music as a thread to weave Eddie and Sara's love story together. The journey through different decades and cities must add a vibrant backdrop to their relationship, making it even more engaging. The inclusion of hit songs and their reimagined inspirations likely adds a nostalgic and emotional layer to the narrative.
The idea that music has the power to heal and bring people together is a beautiful and hopeful theme. It's fascinating how music can evoke emotions, memories, and connections that transcend time and circumstances. The characters are well crafted, and the plot is very well-conceived and played out perfectly to create a picture of the many things that happen within the storyline.
I enjoyed this book very much and highly recommend it! I am grateful to Lake Union Publishing for grating me a digital copy of this wonderful book through Netgalley. all of the opinions in this review are my own.

Alexa play 'Hey There Delilah' by Plain White T's
Cecilia James is an up and coming journalist at Rolling Stones magazine in the 1960s. After a chance meeting leaves her with a clue to the identity of the muse for one of rock n rolls greatest, she devotes herself to uncovering the truth, even as her own relationship is falling apart.
It took me a while to get going on this book but once I was on a roll it was hard to put down. Perfect for fans of Daisy Jones.

I liked the idea of this book but the execution fell flat for me. I did really enjoy reading Sara and Eddie’s story but was less interested in Cecelia’s backstory.

I have realized about myself that I love a book about the music industry, and Rochelle B. Weinstein's What You Do To Me is a captivating blend of romance, rock' n' roll, mystery, and nostalgia. The novel follows Cecilia James, a determined journalist, as she delves into the past to uncover the truth behind a legendary love story.
Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for sharing this book with me.

When I saw this book was inspired by the hit song “Hey There, Delilah” I had to read this! What a beautiful love story. Music touches our lives, and this book makes that clear!

I loved that this story is about a reporter for Rolling Stone magazine trying to find the muse behind one of the greatest love songs ever. The author based this story off of the song “Hey There Delilah” by the Plain White T’s. I dare you to read this book without getting that song stuck in your head!
This poignant and heartfelt story beautifully explores the complexities of love, family, and the past's impact on our lives. The characters are richly drawn and relatable, each struggling with their own set of challenges while trying to make sense of their emotions and histories. Weinstein does an excellent job of capturing the nuances of human connections, making the reader feel deeply invested in the characters' journeys. I liked that we got insight into not only Eddie and Sara’s story, but Cecilia and Pete’s as well.,
The pacing of the novel is steady, allowing the story to unfold naturally. While the plot might feel predictable at times, the emotional depth and the way Weinstein handles the themes of love, regret, and forgiveness more than make up for it. The writing is evocative and touching, drawing the reader into the characters' world and making it hard to put the book down.
Overall, What You Do To Me is a compelling read that tugs at your heartstrings and leaves you reflecting on the power of love and the importance of understanding our past. It's a book that resonates long after the last page is turned.
Thank you Lake Union Publishing and NetGalley for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

What You Do To Me by Rochelle Weinstein is a heartfelt and emotionally resonant contemporary romance novel that explores themes of love, loss, and second chances. A moving love story about the lives of two women connected by a love song and the men they love. It’s also about complex human emotions and experiences between parents and their children and how we are all flawed yet redeemable and resilient and worthy of great love and forgiveness. This was my first time reading this author and I enjoyed it!

. I think if you are really into music and want a good romance with a decent, realistic storyline then this is for you.
I picked this book because the cover is so lovely but i didn't really gel with it. I wasn't really interested in what happened, i think it was more to do with my preferences than the book itself.

Thank you to #NetGalley, the author and the publisher.
I love books about songs since I love music. Each chapter was a song and artist I was either familiar with and recognized songs.
I read the backstory from the author on her FB page and knew I had to read this. I also love the song which the it was based on, Plain White T's “Hey There Delilah.”
Cecelia was a writer for The Rolling Stone in the late 90s and was conceived at Woodstock with parents who loved the music of the 70s and involved in music, so she was immersed too. A lot happens in this book not only with her writing life but with her feelings about her father who abandoned her to live with his new wife and kids when she was a teenager and her late mother and her relationship with her boyfriend Pete who she's been seeing who's about to give up on her for many reasons. Cecelia was only in her late 20s but married to her job and he couldn't handle that and I can understand why.
The other plot was about Sara Friedman, in 1979, in Miami who spent a lot of Jewish holidays and summers there with her extended family. She meets Eddie but her parents (especially her mother) don't approve because he's not Jewish. Yes, there's a connection between the title of this books song).
I'm a sucker for a good epilogue where I cry sometimes, and this was it.
If you're a music lover, this is a must read. As Tina Turner once sang, “Simply The Best.”

Combining romance, family traumas, cultural differences, and the power of music, What You Do to Me is as moving as a ballad and as inspiring as an anthem. I felt the whole gamut of emotions while reading this and loved how the mysteries ultimately unfolded. It’s a book that will stay with me and that will change how I hear “Hey There Delilah” forevermore.

4.5 stars
Music just feeds my soul, and when I read books that are based on music or musicians it makes my heart so happy.
What You Do To Me was so good. I loved the dual story lines, past and present. And just the story itself was beautiful. Cecilia’s growth throughout the book was amazing and the way the relationships she had with Peter and her dad blossomed was such a good feeling. This was such a feel good book and that ending. I don’t want to give anything away, but ugh. My heart.
Overall I thought this book was great, the writing was on par and I really enjoyed the storyline. I look forward to reading more from Rochellle in the future!

Cecilia James stumbles across the muse for one of the greatest love songs. With her own relationship floundering, she becomes obsessed with finding the truth behind the story of two soulmates separated. Her journey leads her to find Eddie Vee who went into hiding years ago after his concert led to tragedy, and Sara who was his inspiration and first love.
This story switches between timelines and weaves together the past and present beautifully. I loved learning about Eddie and Sara’s love story through Cecilia’s investigation and also seeing all that Cecilia learned about love and life along the way. Thank you Netgalley and Lake Union Publishing for the egalley in exchange for my honest review.

I was hoping to love What you do to me as much as Daisy Jones because they have a similar format. But it fell short for me. Cecilia annoyed me and I just didn’t care about her journey through the years.

What You Do To Me by Rochelle B. Weinstein is a novel about Cecilia, who is a journalist for Rolling Stone. She finds some information about the inspiration for a famous singer's most popular song, and she decides to write a story about it. But in the meantime, she is having relationship issues, and she is learning more about who her family is. This story was really well done and moving. I appreciated that the musician's story and Cecilia's story were both explored in such a beautiful way. Thanks NetGalley for the free digital review copy. All opinions are my own.
