I received a free copy of, Healing Hearts in the Little Village, by Ella Cook, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Dr. Liv is starting over in the Cotswolds, her new boss Callum, takes some getting used to. I really wanted to like this book, but I could not. Callum was annoying his daughter Sarah is a soiled brat. Liv and Callum had no chemistry at all.
Healing Hearts in the Little Village by Ella Cook is a heartwarming and uplifting romance that follows Dr. Liv Emery as she embarks on a new chapter of her life in the countryside. After being dumped and facing professional challenges, Liv seizes the opportunity to work in a GP surgery in the Cotswolds. However, her initial relief is dampened by her prickly boss, Callum, who is struggling as a single parent.
Cook skillfully crafts a story of personal growth, love, and the power of community. Liv's journey of healing is beautifully depicted as she forms connections with Callum and his daughter, discovering that she has the ability to make a positive impact on their lives and the village.
The author's writing is engaging and heartfelt, capturing the charm of the Cotswolds and the complexities of the characters' emotions. Healing Hearts in the Little Village is a feel-good novel that explores themes of resilience, second chances, and the transformative power of love.
With its endearing characters, tender moments, and a dash of humour, Cook delivers a delightful romance that will leave readers with a warm and satisfied heart. It's a captivating story that reminds us that sometimes the greatest healing comes from unexpected places.
Ella Cook was a new author for me and one that I am looking forward to reading more from. This was an easy read because it was well written and everything just flowed so naturally. A lot happens in this story beyond just the romance part but it never feels like too much. I really enjoyed following Liv's journey as she moved on from what had happened (both the attack and her a-hole fiancé leaving her) and sought out a new, happier life for herself. Her backstory helped to explain her insecurities and reluctance to get too close to others. I appreciated that all of her problems didn't just disappear when she started her relationship with Callum - she still had moments of vulnerability and feeling like she didn't really belong even though she was welcomed with open arms. I also enjoyed following Liv and Callum's relationship from his rocky start to them finally realizing they were happiest when they were together. Callum's reaction when he thought Liv was getting ready to leave him was a bit out of character, especially him not giving her the opportunity to explain what had happened. He definitely deserved to feel terrible about that. The big rescue towards the end was a definite page-turner (even though I was pretty sure everything would turn out okay). The funniest part in the entire book had to be Sarah's subterfuge at the end - she will definitely be a handful as she gets older.
A sweet story about a young doctor who starts a new job at a surgery in Broclington after her professor recommended her . Liv finally enjoy being a doctor after working long hours in London hospital . Her coworker Callum is a single dad of a six year old girl who loves fairies . Working together they develope feelings . What will happen when her time to go will came ?
I received this book from net galley and the publisher as an ARC. Thank you! All thoughts and opinions are my own .
A lovely story. I had never read an Ella Cook. The doctor part was amazing and the hospital part was sad and moving. I loved Sarah and her love of fairies .She was a magical little girl. A great ending and a lovely feel good book. Highly recommend it. Broclington sounded a great village to live in. Read it
The story was cute but, unfortunately, not engaging. Halfway through the book, I found myself not caring about what happened to them.
The daughter was a bit annoying, and the same goes for Callum, who jumps too quickly to conclusions.
The romance wasn't really there and I didn't feel any chemistry between them.
Thanks to Net Galley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
