NetGalley arc
I loved this book so much. It was so heart warming and set in my beautiful country. It covers some hard topics which I found the author did a great job addressing. Amy is my favourite sister. But I found all 3 very relatable
Three sisters, Kirsty, Emma, and Amy have not been together since the loss of their mother. Emma, the middle sister is getting married and they are all returning to Meadowbank Cottage, their childhood home. Their father is ill and they are all concerned about his health. Emma lives and works in Edinburgh. She is a lawyer and a bit of a Bridezilla. Amy is the youngest and is presently living in Vancouver, Canada. She is not really happy in her present life and breaks it off with her boyfriend before heading home to Scotland. She thinks she might stay there, and meeting up with her old beau, James, might just help her make up her mind. Kirsty is happily married and running the family B&B, and would love Amy to return home. These are a close knit group of sisters, who have drifted apart, but with the wedding and some unexpected news, will they become closer, or move on with their lives apart.
I enjoyed this book. The summery vibes were there and I loved the setting. Having a wedding at a distillery sounds lovely and intimate. I liked each of the sisters for different reasons. As the book progressed, each sister has a secret that I was waiting to see when they would reveal it to one another and how they would react. The story is told from all 3 POVs. The story had drama, secrets, a beautiful setting, and family love with a couple of twists. This was a great story to read sitting outside on a sunny, summer day. If you enjoy a good family drama with lots of emotion, then I recommend A Summer on Arran.
MORE SCOTTISH ROMANCES PLEASEEEEE - ok this book was the most fun summer read. Fast paced, quirky, delightful and (as someone who has holidayed on Arran in my childhood - captured the essence of the island perfectly.)
A good book about family, life and all of the ups and downs that come with it. A quick read and definitely kept me interested from page one!
This was a nice summer read. I enjoy stories set in places I have visited and this brought back memories of how lovely Arran is and was an interesting story about love and family too.
I struggled to finish this book. I love love stories, but this one was hard for me to get into.........................................................................................................................................
It took me a little while to finish this book - since this isn't the normal genre that I usually read. But while I was getting through the book, I found myself obsessed with the sisters and their stories. Each sister had "roles," that they felt like the fit when they were younger - now that they're older (and with the loss of their mother and their father's health condition) when they get together the reverted back to their younger roles. As you get to know the sisters, you see the struggles that they're all personally going through but don't want to burden their loved ones with. I'm glad to read that each sister had a great support system. This was an amazing story about family bond and how you can move from the loss of a loved one. That we are allowed to break down and not expect too much of ourselves, because to those who matter, what we're doing is enough.
Also! The description of Arran throughout the book makes me want to visit Scotland even more.
Thanks to #netgalley, Ellie Henderson, and Joffe Books, for this arc.
I spent last summer in Scotland and reading this book made me travel back there.
I loved the story between the girls and how it wall comes together. Would read again and reccomend to everyone.
Fabulous read that inspires all the warm and cosy feels. The characters are fun and friendly and the setting is amazing. The three storylines interweave effortlessly to create a wonderful book. I really enjoyed reading this book and would highly recommend for any time of the year.
Thank you Netgalley
I'm a sucker for any book that takes place in the UK/Scotland, and this book did not disappoint. A Summer Wedding on Arran is a must-read for any British rom-com fan.
A Summer Wedding on Arran was lighthearted story following three sister and an upcoming wedding. The sorry dealt with topics of infertility, dementia, and adoption. I enjoyed the story, but it left me wanting more from the characters. Thank you again to the publisher and netgalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
A lovely book about three sisters, their childhood growing up I.reland, and returning their when they are older. A nice book to read on a lovely sunny summer holiday.
What a cute story about three sisters and their childhood home in Arran, Ireland. Kristy, Emma, and Amy are such lovely trip and so uplifting to each other; especially during the stress of Emma’s upcoming wedding. This was a very relaxing read that I could picture reading on the beach with a cocktail in hand. And I love that the ending was tied up, nice and neat, with a bow for us readers.
A really fun read that I read in only a few short days! It kept me entertained throughout with well developed characters and a fun storyline! Perfect way to end the summer!
I loved this book - a really nice read that I didn’t want to put down. I live books that make me want to visit places and this was one of them.
Cute family story set off the coast of Scotland. It’s super light and fluffy- no massive drama or twists. It’s quite a quick read, I finished it in about 3 hours.
This story has a cute concept, but jumps immediately into the depth of the story, and with so many characters, it was hard to follow who was who and what the main plot was.
Thank you to the publisher, author, and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
This was a lovely story about family, and grief, all the while set in a gorgeous Scottish setting. I loved getting to know the sisters and read as their story unfolded.
Set on the beautiful Isle of Arran this story is about the lives of three very different sisters who get together for a family wedding. They are all hiding secrets from the rest of the family and there are lots of twists and turns before the wedding takes place. I would recommend this as a perfect holiday read.
This was an absolutely beautiful book and was paced just right.
I went over to Scotland a few months ago and this made me want to drive straight over to Arran (with the minor detail of a ferry in the way!).
The book was full of surprises and wasn't just about a wedding - but a beautiful family story, of sisters coming back together and putting the wedding together, but also some heavy secrets for them to navigate together (and tough topics to approach in a such a book). As the wedding and the book comes together, you want to raise a glass to the happy couple, Emma and Max, and enjoy their beautiful island home.
The characters were lovely, and enjoy getting to meet the side characters, even the irritating guests and neighbours..
Can we have book 2 now to see where the epilogue leads?
