Three sisters coming together for a wedding in beautiful Scotland. A gorgeous story of romance, bonds that will keep you turning the pages. How can you say no to book set in Scotland?
This is my first book by this author and it won't be my last.
I received this book as an ARC from Choc lit through NetGalley and this review is based on my own opinion.
A Summer Wedding On Arran is a story about three sisters.
Kirsty owns a b&b called Meadowbank and is planning the wedding for Emma.
Emma is a lawyer, living in Edinburgh, who is now getting married to another lawyer.
And Amy lives in Vancouver as a yoga instructor and massage therapist.
Two years after their mothers funeral they are all back in their hometown Arran to celebrate the wedding of the middle sister Emma.
The book is fast paced and it was lovely to read on a hot summer weekend. I personally liked that each of the sisters had some kind of secret that they kept from eachother while the reader knew what was going on, except for Kirsty's one that they only revealed around the ending, which kept it exciting for me to keep reading.
A sweet and cosy story about three sisters . The second sister Emma gets married and the bid sister Kirsty who runs a b&b is the one who has the role of organising the wedding . The younger sister Amy is a yoga instractor and the last six years lives in Canada . Each of them have a secret they keep from the others . I loved the way the whole family worked and who much love they shared .
I received this book from net galley and the publisher as an ARC. Thank you! All thoughts and opinions are my own .
There is nothing inherently wrong with this book. It just was not for me. I found the pacing very slow.
Despite being near the same age as the sisters, I could not connect with the characters. But look forward to reading Ellie Henderson's next book.
Thank you to Joffe Books and NetGalley for allowing me to read the book early! I was not asked to give a positive review. All opinions expressed are 100% my own.
Sorry but this wasn’t my cup of tea. I like much more romance in my romantic fiction. I like heroines that I can empathise with and heroes who make me swoon. I dislike problems which would be solved easily by people talking to one another and I had misunderstanding caused by a character jumping to conclusions on very little evidence. The writer did a good job of scene setting on the beautiful Isle of Arran and I did like a lot of this book - it just didn’t thrill me.
The addition of the dementia thread put me off, having experienced watching someone with dementia deteriorate - this was not a happy read for me..
A great summer read. I enjoyed following these characters for their summer in the sun,
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for a review.
I have found that too often in stories of sisters there is always some kind of drama and animosity between them. The fact that this was not the case with A Summer Wedding on Arran was a big part of the reason I loved it so much. The couples were also devoid of too much drama - and when there was some they handled it like adults and talked things through! At first I felt like this read as more of a travel advertisement because so much time was spent on describing the setting - but once it really got started with the story that feeling quickly disappeared. I loved the dynamic between the sisters and how supportive they were of one another's decisions and life choices. And Kirsty was a very typical older sister when it came to encouraging the romance between Amy and James. The storyline involving their father was really well done and showed again the strong ties between these characters. The only character I really didn't like was Emma's friend Ruth - she was trying to stir up trouble prior to the wedding and I'm sure she won't be particularly kind or supportive should Emma not be able to conceive.
A good pick for a summer read. The book focuses on the sisterhood of Kirsty, Emma and Amy. All of them has struggles and secrets of sort, but they are reminded that they’re not alone, they can lean on each other, on family. It had a bit of romance on the side, all three sisters got their happy ending. Emma and Max especially had so much love for each other, they were my favourite. I liked Amy’s independence and bravery and Kirsty being so caring. It was nice traveling to Arran, Scotland through the book. I also liked how female health issues, grief and dementia were addressed.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me a copy of the book.
This was a fun, refreshing summer vibe book! Perfect for taking to the beach or pool to read. Makes me want to take a trip to Arran.
The book starts with three sisters (Amy, Kirsty, and Emma) attending their mom's funeral who unfortunately lost her battle to cancer.
Fast forward to 2 years later, the sisters are living in different parts of the world but Kirsty helps plan all of Emma’s wedding back home.
Amy is a yoga instructor and massage therapist living with her boyfriend and his child in Canada.
Emma is a lawyer engaged to another lawyer and living in Edinburgh.
Kirsty, the older sister, has been married for a long time with two kids that are going off to college.
While Kirsty is getting ready for her sisters to arrive and finishing up the last touches on wedding prep. She has a secret that she needs to share with them. Will it change them forever? You will have to order to book to find out!
I enjoyed the family and sisterhood of this book. I’m so glad everything worked out and all the sisters had a happy ending. Sometimes life isn’t always what you plan but it ends up being better than you imagine.
Thank you, NetGalley for the EARC! As always, my review is my opinion and thoughts. This review will be shared on my Instagram (@Alexandriavwilliams_) shortly.
I absolutely loved this book . One of those books you were thinking about when you were not reading Three sisters all brought on Arran . Two had left . All their lives were different but good. You had old love being rekindled. A family secret and a health issue. It was well written and kept you think. The father getting old was very close to my heart. A great read. Really enjoyed it.
Thanks to NetGalley and Joffe/Choc Lit for the ARC. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.
A cute, fast read. Not a lot happened yet I really enjoyed it. Most of the reason I wanted to read this was because it takes place in Scotland, yet while reading this, it felt like it could have been set anywhere. So it loses a star for that. The characters were sweet and you really got to know each of them. I would definitely read future books by this author.
