This book has such a unique plot line and it was an enjoyable book if you want a quick mystery/thriller. Rated 3/5 stars
When I saw this book had an eARC available I instantly put a request in for it.
Cursed Cruise is a sequel to Horror Hotel which follows a group of teenage YouTube Paranormal Investigators, The Ghost Gang. The RMS Queen Anne has been collecting victims for a century, the ship revels in the murders of these victims; feeding her.
The Ghost Gang gets invited to travel on the RMS Queen Anne for its inaugural voyage after the ship got revamped for the modern era. The Ghost Gang is hoping to catch a video on the famous ghost The Lady in White, Elizabeth Walker, who supposedly jumped overboard a week before her wedding in 1984. The ship is said to be cursed by King Ramses VII who was stowed away when the ship took its maiden voyage.
This book’s creep factor was dialed up, which caused me to pause a few times while reading. I loved the mystery of The Lady in White, Elizabeth, and if she committed suicide as everyone had thought or if she was murdered. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time.
I found it interesting that the ship got a slight POV and showed us what the curse of the mummy was doing to her.
Thank you, NetGalley, Victoria Fulton, Faith McClaren, and Random House Children’s for the ARC
#NetGalleyARC I loved the first book in this series and I loved this one as well. The new scene of the haunting is cool and I really enjoyed that the other characters played more into the story this time around. There’s a brief mention of a trip to Salem during this story, make this a book!!
Thank you net galley for the arc of this book! I always appreciate the nod to real historical places in this series by these talented ladies. In this series our favorite ghost crew is invited on a cruise ship of the Haunted Queen Anne for a chance to win big for their YouTube channel. But Chrissy the resident medium is sucked into a decades old murder and curse that could cost them their lives.
I was a bit lost because all of the team had their own things they were going through on the ship but my favorite topic was Kiki and the relationship with her mother. You really felt for her and her mother both struggling with their relationship and how Kiki wanted her mother back before her parents divorce.
The curse was very fleeting in its roll in the book even though I believed it was the main topic but it was not it was actually the least active part in this book until the very end and I think it could've been done without it because the murder took precedence over everything else. Overall im excited to see what adventure they have next!
This book for sure reads like an episode of Scooby Doo and the mystery inc gang. A group of up and coming paranormal investigators come back for round 2 of their major cases involving a rumored cursed cruise ship.
Going into the book I totally didn’t know this was a second book in a series. Which for the most part didn’t really affect my reading experience because this book pretty much gave you an overview of what happened in the first book and the ripple of effects were felt in this sequel.
Overall this book wasn’t a bad book but not the best either. Maybe I’m not the target audience but it was super short and the alternating points of view were, for me, absolutely unnecessary. The characters could have been more rounded and thought out. The plot was quick and speedy. Kind of repetitive to the point where I kept skimming some parts to keep the story going. Overall a so so book that didn’t leave me wanting to read the first book or continue this series any further to be honest.
A 2.5 star read. Rounded up to 3 stars.
Thanks to the folks at NetGalley for the ARC of this book. My review a honest reflection of my feelings towards this book.
Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC.
Let me preface this by saying that I did not read the first book in this series but it gives you more than enough information to figure out what you missed. Overall this book is pretty middle of the road. It’s fairly silly and inconsistent. At times it feels like a grade school chapter book with occasional curse words. At other times it seems like an older YA book. Some of the subplots seem erroneous.
2.5 rounded up to 3 for goodreads.
Although I do not like how many different points of view are used, I think my students might still enjoy this book. I can say I like the personalization of the ship, but found it did add one more extra point of view. I think I would have been happier if only two were used. I kept getting confused by who was speaking especially with the two extra girls. I did not feel their points of view added as much as the main characters did.
When I requested this book I didn't realize that it was the second book in a series. What I found is that the author did a really good job of referring back to that first book in a way that you didn't feel like you were walking in in the middle of a story but left enough out that you feel like you could still read it and be entertained.
I don't think reading the first book is necessary but you probably want to just to get a better introduction to the characters and backstory.
The mystery and suspense was enjoyable. Some of the writing felt a little stilted and immature but could be due to the age of the characters portrayed.
I was entertained and it was a quick easy read.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I didn't realize this was book two so that may have been the reason it was hard to get into the book! It did feel rushed but maybe I needed to read the first book!
It had great potential but fell flat!
Thanks NetGalley for allowing me to read and review
A highly enjoyable chiller for YA! I hope to continue to read this series and will recommend it for readers of all ages! Will be buying for the library.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the digital ARC.
I didn't realize this was book two in a series, but I had no problems with Cursed Cruise. You do not need to have read the first in the series to pick up the second. I enjoyed this one and will probably go back and read the first.

This is a YA book where the main characters actually feel younger. There are two ghost finding groups on the ship, but only one of them has a real psychic. The ship has been haunted for decades and has its own ideas about what will happen to everyone.
While not for adult horror fans, this would probably be fun for younger readers. There are several points of view, the kids are likeable enough.
Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this
I was not a fan of this book. But, it is for the younger crowd so that could possibly be why. I wasn’t a fan of the story or writing.
I was expecting to like this one. I think the premise was interesting, but when we see the main character in the first chapter explain most of what happens throughout the story, it lost my interest. I do think it will be a fun read for the middle grade audience, but it was just not going to work for me.
This was a quick, fun read. I didn't read the first book but i will now. Sometimes you just need a quick fun read and it was perfect for Oct.
it felt so great to be back with the ghost gang on a new adventure! this time we are swapping haunted hotel for a cursed cruise ship and it’s a fun change! I don’t want to give too much away, but just know, if you’re a fan of the horror hotel then you’ll love this! while there are some spoilers about horror hotel in this book I don’t necessarily think you have to read them in order! this was a very fun time.
thank you to publicist sarah lawrence at random house children’s and netgalley for the arc!
I didn't read the first book but I did enjoy this one. It was fun, it was quick, and it was the perfect amount of spooky.
Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this E-arc in exchange for a honest review.
I did struggle to get into the story, it felt so rushed and not alot of details. It had great potential and I did enjoy it, however if it had gone into more detail I think it would have been even better. Everything takes place over 2days I believe, this ship has been haunted/cursed for decades and 4 teens end the curse that quickly?
Okay, I liked this one even more than I did the first! It was a quick fun read, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
