4.5 Stars (I received an e-ARC from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review)

Yet another book I started writing the review for but never finished it due to life and school. I have been reading this series from the beginning, thanks to Net Galley. I would actually recommend reading the series in order as there is an underlying plot that carries through all three books, which comes to a head in this book. The Maxwell sisters are great female characters showcasing strength, sass and a heart warming bond. Olive is definitely the sister that I feel the most like and her creation of the list is probably something I would do (but would never actually execute). This the spiciest story, in my opinion, and their tension has been hinted at in the previous books. I also feel like Bax has had the most developed backstory out of the three male love interests. Also I love that the grandmother had a more prominent story and we get to see a woman learning how to be more confident and stand up for herself. Showcasing how women in academia; even one with supernatural context; struggle to be taken seriously and the toxic men pretending to be nice while putting them down in front of other colleagues. Love this series for its mix of romance, supernatural, comedic banter, sisterhood (with honorary sister Harper, who hopefully gets her own story) and spicy times.

Oh I love the Maxwell sisters and their friends!

This third installment is just as fun and well written as the first two. I have really enjoyed following these sisters along and the story of Olive and Bax is no different. Both characters had great character growth and the relationship was believable.

Can I rate this 10 stars? I would if I could. April Asher once again makes us fall in love with Supernatural Singles. We follow Olive and Bax, who may just be my favorite could after reading this book --- hello, he's a guardian angel, it's a no brainer. I wish it was longer, I want to know more, but I feel that way about all her books. I need more of each couple, yes please. 10/10 witchy romance vibes.

Loved the plus sized rep! The relationship was an interesting dynamic. Overall enjoyed this read!

I have enjoyed this entire series and do recommend reading them in order to get the full story. I felt stronger about the first two but this wasn't a terrible way to wrap up the series.

(rounded down from 3.5 stars)

This is the third (and final?) book in the Supernatural Singles paranormal romance series and it features Olive, the third witch sister and Baxter, a guardian angel. I really love that these books are set in modern-day New York City, in a world that acknowledges “supers” and we regular people are called “norms.” These are fun, mostly light reads, romance with large elements of fantasy/scifi. If you’re a seasonal reader, this whole series is great for “spooky season”/autumn.

Olive teaches at New York University, where she is chair of the supernatural studies department (or something to that effect). She’s curvy and wears glasses, and is extremely appealing to a guardian angel named Baxter, a guy in their friend group. He has offered Olive a room in his apartment, as a roommate, after her previous living arrangement didn’t work out. Bax is an interesting character - he’s a guardian angel and can pop out wings from his back, but he hates flying and is a little afraid of heights! He also is an artist, but just as a hobby, and designs intricate tattoos. He also rides around on a motorcycle and has piercings in “interesting” places. Olive asks her class to do things out of their comfort zone, and then she decides she should do the same. This leads to the guardian angel authorities deciding that Olive needs a guardian angel and assigns Bax. Problem: there’s a rule against falling in love with your guardian assignment.

Note: It’s a bit steamy, so be forewarned if that doesn’t appeal to you. There’s also a lot of talk about sex, not just the actual scenes. I rounded my star rating down a notch because of what I felt was the characters’ excessive focus on sex.

Thank you to St. Martin’s Griffin and NetGalley for the opportunity to read a review copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

The "Supernatural Singles" series has been a favourite of mine since "Not the Witch You Wed", so I was really excited to finally get Olive and Bax’s story in "Not Your Crush’s Cauldron". All the books can be read as standalones, but I definitely recommend reading them in order for full enjoyment.

I loved getting to learn more about Bax in this book and I really liked his connection with Olive, but there was something about how the Dare I Docket was worked into the story that just didn’t draw me in as much as the other two books. I think it was really great for Olive to step outside her comfort zone and explore some new experiences and hobbies, but I also would have liked to see a little more of a balance with her regular life and how Bax fits into that. For a character whose entire personality up until this point has been about reading books, being a professor, and doing magic, we see surprisingly little of that in her own book.

I did really enjoy Bax becoming Olive’s Guardian Angel as the set up for the romance and how that played into the story, but I do wish there had been some kind of actual event that could have explained why she needed one – even if it was something she was only mildly involved in or it was something specific that could’ve been worse. I know it was supposed to be her Dare I Docket, but let’s be honest she was never in danger from any of those activities, so it felt like it came out of nowhere when she was suddenly no longer at risk.

Overall, I really enjoyed the characters, romance, and little bit of spice, so I would definitely still recommend it and I’m looking forward to a potential book about Harper in the future!!

I love this series and plan to continue to read from this author! I really loved this book and how it concluded the sister series. Although I would love a book on Harper of course!

I really enjoyed this one! I love the witchy/supernatural world that April Asher has built and the characters within it.
Olive and Bax are SO good together. Their chemistry is top notch. I was excited to get this one read in October because it was the perfect Halloween vibes. I love the way the supernatural world is built into the human world so naturally.

This was one of those books that I read and thought, "why did I not pick this up sooner?" This one has been on my TBR shelf for over a year and I am so sad I didn't read it until now. I have always been a fan of mutual pining, and I think April Asher did well in making me believe that these two main characters had feelings that were building prior to the start of this book. The storyline was compelling and made sense to the characters. Since this was my first Asher book, I am intrigued enough to go back and read her previous books in this series. I would highly recommend this one to my fellow friends-to-lovers fans, or anyone looking for a quick spooky romance book.

The one thing that I really like about this series is that each book follows a different sister. The first two books were full of tropes that I love. This book was a friends to lovers trope which I have a hot and cold relationship with. I need build up or a recap of how they became friends in the first place. I felt with this one the reader is dropped into the pre-established friendship. I just didn’t believe in their chemistry as much as the other two couples in the series.

This book was still a lot of fun. I love the world and the mixture of supernatural beings. I think this may be the last book of this series but I’m hoping for a companion series set in this same world.

This was my least favorite of the Supernatural Singles series. The banter was cringy, the "tension" was more like him constantly hitting on her and her wondering if he liked her, and the story was predictable and cheesy.

Fat rep still slays though.

Thanks to netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read this in exchange for an honest review.

April Asher delivers yet another delightfully steamy paranormal rom-com with the third book in the Supernatural Singles series. Following Olive Maxwell, the youngest of the triplet witches, and her swoon-worthy, tattooed biker guardian angel, Bax, this book is filled with charm, humor, and some sizzling moments.

While this one can be enjoyed as a standalone, the first two books offer great world-building, giving Not Your Crush’s Cauldron more space to focus on the romance—and it’s sexy! Olive’s journey out of her comfort zone, paired with Bax’s own challenges, creates a sweet yet spicy dynamic. The chemistry between them is palpable, though I wish the conflict had been a bit more intense. Still, the forbidden love and forced proximity tropes are executed beautifully.

If you’re into paranormal rom-coms with found family, bad boys with golden retriever energy, and a heroine determined to challenge herself, this one’s for you.

There's tons more witchy fun in this installment of the Supernatural Singles series. This time, it's Olive, the third Maxwell sister finding love.

This had such a fun plot with Olive trying to step out of her comfort zone, and her new roommate, Bax, is along for the ride. I absolutely loved Olive and Bax together. They were so amazing and cute! Their relationship was just perfect!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are my own.

I think this is the best of the series so far. It felt less cheesy than the others for some reason and while the dialogue gets a little cringy, it’s not as bad as the first two. I think I even liked the characters better. We still don’t get deep into any of the characters which is not my favorite, but the story is still good.

I might recommend this book, but not the whole series
