The Supernatural Singles series is one of my favorite paranormal rom com series, and I think they should be so much more popular than they are!

I loved the latest installation, and thought that Olive was such a relatable character. The chemistry and romance between Olive and Bax is something I thought was palpable, and he was definitely a sexy rom com hero. The Dare I Docket was such a clever plot point, and seeing Olive get pushed out of her comfort zone made me want to go wild and do some things I’ve been afraid to do!

Overall, this was a 4.25 star read and I cannot wait for the next installment in this series!

A bookish, curvy witch looking to branch out of her comfort zone gets assigned a grumpy guardian who also happens to be her roommate. I really enjoyed this third book in the Supernatural Singles series featuring the third triplet, Olive. Sexy and fun, this dual POV paranormal romance delivered on the heat and heart. Great on audio too narrated by Zura Johnson. While there are cameos from Olive's two sisters, this book can be read as a standalone. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital and audio copy in exchange for my honest review!

When I requested this book, I did not realize it that it was the 3rd book in the series. I feel like I've missed a lot of back story by not having read the first two books about Olive's sisters. I was lost with all the characters that were introduced in the first couple of chapters. It was frustrating and unfortunately, I stopped reading around 25% although the writing was cute and quirky. I just couldn't get into the story.

Not Your Crush’s Cauldron

Cute, quirky, and witchy!

Loved the chemistry between Bax and Olive. I loved how they had a really good friendship relationship before anything romantic happened.

I also loved how Olive participates in opening herself up to new and more adventurous things. I liked that aspect of finding more of oneself. Life you can know who you really deep down but trying new and different things can also create a more versatile you and giving you more joy in your life.

I loved the ending with Bax and how he found what his passion is and went for it and didn’t let the opinion of his father interferes anymore in what he wants to do and who who wants to do it with.

The finding your passion and doing it was a big theme in this story and I loved the found family one as well.

A witchy supernatural friends to lovers/opposites attract rom com with a touch of spice! Olive is stretching her wings and trying new things- and Bax is meant to protect her. I missed the first two books in this series and thus the backstory of these two (and her sisters) but this was a fine standalone. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. It's a fast read that fans of the genre will enjoy,

I will preface this by saying, I did not know when reading this that it was a part of a series. Not your Crush's Cauldron is book 3 in the series. Not the Witch You Wed and Not Your Ex's Hexes are the other two books. However, despite having no clue this was the 3rd in the series, I think you can definitely read and love it as a standalone. This book was cute! It had everything you could want in a witchy rom com! There was a dusting of spice. A heavy pour of banter. A delicious dollop of magic. A sweet spoonful of romance. A whole cup of tattoos and piercings. Sprinkle of drama. Let that simmer over a slooooow burn for a little while. All in all I enhoyed this one and look forward to reading the others in the series!

a GOOD 3.5 rounded up.

A super huge thank you to NetGalley, April Asher and the publisher's at St. Martin's Press for the ARC of Not Your Crush's Cauldron in exchange for me honest review.

“Not Your Crush's Cauldron” (Supernatural Singles, book 3) by April Asher
A Fun Story
I enjoyed my time within this story. It was a fun read. As I was getting ready to write this review, I discovered this story is book 3 in this author’s Supernatural Singles series. So, I can tell you that you too can enjoy this as a stand-a-lone read. (If you have not read books 1 & 2.. although maybe you will want to read them first?) I did need to keep reminding myself that all the active characters, are supernatural in some form. But. not all or always, above exhibiting human foibles. Oh, and supernatural characters seem to enjoy a bit of spice in their lives, too. Happy Reading ! !
Note: This review expresses my honest opinion.
I received a copy of this story from the publisher via NetGalley

Thank you April Asher and NetGalley for the e-arc of Not Your Crush's Cauldron! I absolutely love this world that April has created and was so excited to be able to read and review the third book!

Not Your Crush's Cauldron follows the youngest Maxwell triplet, Olive, and her journey of stepping outside of her comfort zone. After she gives her students an assignment about doing things outside of their comfort zones, she partakes in the assignment so she doesn't seem like a hypocrite. Although she was just going to do the list alone (or with the help of her sisters), her new roommate (and Guardian Angel) Bax decides to join her.

Bax joins Olive on her many new adventures, partially so he can spend more time with her and partially because she is his new Guardian Angel assignment. Bax has a lot to juggle -- his job, his feelings for Olive, and doing things that are also outside of his usual comfort level.

Like always, April is able to combine fun magical moments, steamy scenes, and heartwarming conversations to make an enjoyable story. I loved Olive's character growth and seeing her step out of her shell throughout completing her Dare I Docket and realizing that who you surround yourself with is more important than what you're doing.

4/5 stars
2/5 spice

Olive Maxwell is a former lawyer turned Professor. She creates an end of term project for her students to break out of their comfort zones. When Olive realizes she needs to break out of her comfort zone also. She makes a list and moves in with her hunky friend Baxter Donovan a guardian angel.

Bax is given an assignment to guard Olive. One of the guardian angel rules is that they can't divulge that they are guarding them. Bax's father is a bigwig in the guardian angel community and expects Bax to perform.

I really enjoyed this book. Even the spicy 🥵 parts even though sometimes I was a tad uncomfortable listening to the audio book. 🫣 A very enjoyable paranormal romance. The narration was very good and kept me engaged for the whole book.

The scream I scrumpt when I got the widget for Not Your Crush’s Cauldron! I was not prepared for it, but I have been beyond giddy waiting to read this one.

Bax and Olive? Do I really need to say more? The tension between these two throughout the first two books was great. I have been salivating for them to have their story. I am SO happy the characters didn’t say no because I would have been devastated.

I love when a book goes on an adventure, especially when that adventure is pushing the characters out of their comfort zone. It was really beautiful to watch this project Olive created do just as much, if not more, for her than it did for her students. And with the little twist you get at the end from the results. Loved it!

Bax, Bax, Bax! My dude has spent too long being the puppet in someone’s master schemes. In this case, his father’s. My heavens how much I wanted to throw that man! He was not it. But I am so happy that the onion of a man finally found his true layer and told his dad how he’s going to live his life.

These two together were so much fun to read. Their dynamic from the beginning, despite the years they’d known each other, to radiating love was really beautiful to watch develop.

Not Your Crush’s Cauldron is the third novel in the Supernatural Singles series. This story follows Olive Maxwell, who decides to step out of her comfort zone after telling her supernatural college students to do the same. Bax Donovan is a Guardian Angel and is assigned to help Olive once she begins to get out of her comfort zone. As the two spend more time together, they begin to develop some feelings; however, Angels are not supposed to be romantically involved with their assignments. Since the guardian side of the story is what brings the two characters together, I loved the concept, but wished that this was explored even further. As Olive is checking items off her “Dare I Docket” list, it keeps the characters together.

There are some pieces of the “Docket” that I did not understand as it emphasizes how it is worthwhile to complete it with someone yet there are examples throughout about how it can be valuable independently. I feel this and other elements of the novel have great potential, but they lack the follow-through. Bax’s job was the standout for this issue as, even after reading, I did not quite understand his and his agency’s purpose. While I enjoyed the insta-lust chemistry between the characters and their relationship developing, I feel Asher forgot to lay a nice foundation for their jobs and what brings the characters together. As for enjoyment of the couple, I liked them together a lot and they had amazing chemistry. As for writing, there were many elements that I loved (the ease, etc.), but others (the background) that I did not. Overall, it is difficult to think about an a rating as there were a lot of pieces that I loved and others that I did not, so I settled on a middle-ground one.

**I give a special thank you to Netgalley and the publisher, St. Martin’s Griffin, for the opportunity to read this entertaining novel. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.**

This was such a fun, spicy adventure for our sweet Olive, who may have seemed like the mildest Maxwell, but had so much spark and warmth to her. And don’t even get me started on our swoon worthy angel, Bax. I really enjoyed this one, delightfully awkward moments, sweet concern, it was just lovely!

For the love of Goddess! Bad boy Guardian Angel, Bax, is my perfect book boyfriend. I was screaming when we learned about his affinity for (ahem) *pleasure* jewelry. (IYKYK) This book was perfect parts chaos, spice and adventure. I love how with each book we continue to learned more of the previous couples continued stories in more depth than just being casually mentioned. The only thing I need to express my confusion about is part of the conclusion. Maybe I’m wrong, but I feel like a big part of the book was focused on this long term goal for Olive. We found out (kinda) the outcome of her presentation, but there was literally two sentences to let us know what happened (sorta). My nosy little heart wanted all of the dirty details of the meeting! I’m praying to the book gods that this was done on purpose to leave it open for another book. (Also…because I NEED to know more about this sex demon).

✨ARC Review✨

⭐⭐⭐ for Not Your Crush's Cauldron by April Asher

While I did mostly enjoy this one, I didn't LOVE it, and some of it is my fault - like the fact that I didn't know this was the third book in a series - and some is the story itself.
I was definitely missing some context by not having read the other books first, which is maybe why I found the characters's feelings towards each other to escalate quickly. They're friends to lovers, but we don't see them being friends very much before it's established that they both have secret crushes on the other, which felt a bit too insta-love for me.
I did enjoy the dual POV though, and the forced proximity was great, as was the open door aspect. Steamy but not overdone.
I found the story to be lacking in context about the way witches, angels, demons, shapeshifters and the like coexist with humans, and it all seems perfectly normal to them; how did it get that way? This isn't a fantasy novel, it's a romance and as such I needed some explanation why these species coexist the way they do.
All in all an enjoyable read, lighthearted and fun but nothing to write home about. Thank you Netgalley and SMP Romance for the arc in exchange for a review. All opinions are my own.

This was adorable! Just like with the other books in the series, I really enjoyed the characters and the found family aspect of this supernatural community. I did enjoy the other two books in the series more, as this one was slightly slower paced for me. I think the docket could've been more fun and I think I missed the excitement of the first two books in this one. However, the relationship between the MCs was nice and I loved seeing them get their HEA.

I gave it 3.75/5 ⭐️

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Griffin for allowing me access to e-Arc.

This is my favorite couple in the Supernatural Singles series so far! There is something about Olive that I personally related heavily to. She wants to find a way to get out of her comfort zone. I think a lot of people can relate to that. Bax is definitely a new book boyfriend. He is so caring, protective and loving. This book was perfection!

I highly recommend picking their story up!
