I was hoping that this one would live up to the first, but I was let down. The writing style tries too hard to be… cutesy? Trendy? I can’t put my finger on it, but it comes off as contrived and I felt constantly embarrassed for the characters. The romance between the two main characters felt patronizing and full of fake “problems”, and it was really difficult for me to get through. Not for me, unfortunately.

Bax and Olive’s romance has been hinted since the first book in the series. I’ve had lots of fun with this trilogy, especially with book two, and I hoped I’d love book three just as much but I’ll say that it fell a bit flat for me.

The “I’m your Guardian Angel” secret already put me in a sour mood, but well, I could overlook it a bit since it didn’t impact the plot too much after all, it was just there. I think that what didn’t work for me is the bad guy/good girl dynamic Olive and Bax had. I don’t know why, but it didn’t look fitting for Bax to be like that, and Olive was too stereotypical for me. The little sister (or triplet, in this case), good girl with librarian vibes that makes a list to step out of her comfort zone. It rarely works for me, so I can’t blame the book after all.

That said, just as the other two books in the series, I found the writing sooo enchanting. I love the supernatural world set in NYC April has created. It makes me wish I was living in it so I could became friends with this group. And once again, as I’ve begged for in my previous reviews… please let Harper and Adrian have a book. PLEASE.

Not Your Crush's Cauldron is an enchanting and entertaining read perfect for rom com readers and modern romance fans looking for a bit of magical whimsy in their next adventure.

I can't wait to grab a physical copy when this releases.

I absolutely love these books. I’ve read this whole little series so far, and it continues to keep me captivated and just really had a great mixture of story and spice WITH an added dose of magic.

I adored this one probably more than the others because of the triplets, I’ve always identified with Olive most. With Olive being the quiet and reserved sister, she helps everyone else be their main character and kind of just puts herself last UNTIL she doesn’t.

She moves in with Bax, the guardian angel we meet in the others as well (since he’s part of the friend group) because her current roommate is a nightmare and she just can’t sleep. But moving in with a super attractive roommate? Ooooooof.

But Olive feels like she needs to spice up her life. She had assigned a project for her students to step outside of the comfort zone, and she realized that maybe she should too. Bax steps in and completes the items with her. So we get those friends to lovers vibes, yuuuum!

This was a really cute and fun romance. I think that Bax and Olive were really good matches for each other. I really liked that you got to see the other sisters' lives throughout the book. My only issue with the book is that the climax was... anticlimactic. I really like their story but when it all came to a head it wasn't what I expected. Still a 4 star read!

This is book 3 to Supernatural Singles Book series but it can be read as a standalone. It would definitely help to read the others first since characters from the other books are heavily involved. I can't recommended this book enough, if you are in a book hangover or your just in the mood for something cozy this is exactly what your looking for. It's so much more spicy then the other two and I am here for it! love love love love! Pick it up, you wont regret it!

Not Your Crush's Cauldron is a fun supernatural romcom. I loved the friends to lover's trope and felt that it was done perfectly with this book. I enjoyed the concept of the Dare I Docket and how the events the made Olive get out of her comfort zone, led to the Olive's character growth. At the time I requested and read this book, I did not know this was the third book in the series. Although you can read this book as a standalone, I plan to read the other two books in the Supernatural Singles series.

Not your Crush's Cauldron comes out February 13th, 2024.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the opportunity to review Not Your Crush's Cauldron. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

Whirlwind of a story! Colorful characters and a wild journey.

I think I wouldn't have been quite so lost at first if I would have read the first two books but that didn't keep me from truly enjoying the story.

4.5 stars, will definitely be reading more from this author.

This was fun and enjoyable, not super deep but not everything has to be! It was a steamy HEA that is a good spooky season space filler.

"Not Your Cauldron's Crush" is a captivating blend of fantasy and rom com, weaving together familiar tropes from both genres. And the narrative hits just right. The story follows the fiery and independent Elara Nightshade, a slightly mischievous witch, who finds herself entangled with the brooding (did you hear me? BROODING!) warlock, Aiden Shadowdust. Can we just take a moment to appreciate their surnames? The dynamic between these two is filled with tension, witty banter (!!!), and jumps-off-page chemistry. This novel combines magic and that refreshing and light feeling you get from a rom com, making it a must-read for fans of both fantasy and romance!

Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to ARC this book.

Book 3 in the series and I really enjoyed this one. Olive and Bax are opposites in so many ways but oh so perfect for each other. With their adventures to get out of their comfort zones they realize they have been in love with each other for years. It’s funny and sweet and a little steamy. Thanks to NetGalley and St Martins for the arc.

Third sister of the witch triplets is finally getting her story and dang are we tackling a big life question right alongside our FMC and her students with this one. Romance and supernatural collide in this friends to lovers romcom between a nerdy buttoned-up witch and a struggling but smoking hot angel.

🪽third witch sister
🪽guardian angel in his last strike
🪽friends to lovers
🪽dual POV
🪽and they were roommates
🪽angel who fears heights
🪽witchy professor
🪽forbidden romance

Honestly this was such a fun one to read. I’m normally not the biggest fan of friends to lovers, but Bax and Olive made it easy to love them. The youngest of the Maxwell witch sisters just moved into friendly yet mysterious angel Baxter Donovan’s place after the disaster that was her previous living accommodations. Add in growing attraction between the two and that forbidden aspect of the Guardians third top rule of Don’t Fall for the Assignment (of which Olive has now become per the higher ups), and this romance was bound to be a wild ride.

Seeing the previous couples after their stories is always fun, getting hints of how their HEAs are progressing. But for side characters, the new ones drew my attention the most. Particularly an old tattooed angel Bax is fond of. Isaiah was the father figure Bax always needed and never got through his own father Mikael. Honestly, as much as I loved Harper and the other couples from the previous books, Isaiah was standout side character for me this story. Buff tough guy covered in tats but an avid fan of reality TV, particularly the romance variety? I mean, instant fave material right there.

Snow angels in Central Park, amateur dance competitions, aerial classes for the circus and so many other adventures abound for the two main characters as their own love story unfolds within these pages. Spicy moments tied together with warm fuzzy personal growth and rough patches in between, Not Your Crush’s Cauldron was a wonderful addition to the Supernatural Singles series.

Super thankful for the team over at St. Martin’s Press granting me access to an early copy to review from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I really wanted to enjoy this but something about it just didn’t do it for me. I enjoy this author and thought I would enjoy this particular story, but something just didn’t click for me. It could be one of those instances where it was me and not the book, though, so I might revisit this at a later time.

How do these keep getting cuter? I have yet to be let down in this series - you get the perfect mix of smart and sassy witchery and delicious steam. It was such a charming read, perfect for spooky season but honestly wonderful anytime!

This is the third Maxwell sister’s book but the first that I read. I think it would have helped if I would have read the first two books as previous events were mentioned. Thank you St. Martins Press for the copy.
Olive pushes her students to step out of their comfort zones not realizing she hasn’t stepped out of her own! She ends up moving in with her longtime friend and crush turned guardian angel Bax. Will Bax break the only Guardian Angel Code of Conduct Rule while trying to complete his assignment?
I loved the friends to lovers, witchy romance and found family parts of the story. I loved the support and banter with the characters. This was a great funny witchy romance.

Not Your Crush’s Cauldron by April Asher

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I have enjoyed all the books in the Supernatural Single series, but I really loved Olivia and Bax’s! This book picks up were booked two left off with Olivia moving into the second bedroom in Bax’s apartment so she can finally get away from her annoying roommate and get some sleep. Olivia and Bax have been friends for years with underlying feelings for each other that they both ignore. They step outside their comfort zones when Olivia decides to complete the same assignment she gave her students. The assignment is to make a list of 10 things they wouldn’t normally do. Bax joins her in completing them as he is assigned as her guardian angel by the GAA.

I loved all the characters, the banter, magic, spice in this book and series! I loved the journey of friends to lovers and doing what you really love that the characters went on. I really hope that there will be a fourth book featuring Harper! I need to read her story. If you haven’t read the series yet, you need to pick it up! You won’t regret it! Thank you, NetGalley, St Martins Press for the arc and the chance to leave my honest review.

While I didn't love this one, I did enjoy reading this witchy halloween rom com. It was a quick read.

I really hope that this isn't the last book in the Supernatural Singles series (ahem, Harper?). April Asher writes stories and relationships where you know they're going to end up together but the fun is in how they get there.

Olive and Bax were such a fun couple! We had met them briefly in the previous books; Not Your Crush's Cauldron picks up right where we left off, with Olive moving in with Bax as his roommate. There are sparks between them even before Bax gets assigned to be Olive's Guardian Angel but the forced (closer) proximity makes them fly even faster! One of my favorite parts of the Supernatural Singles books is the dual POV; I love getting to watch him fall in love with her as she's falling in love with him.

I feel like all of the characters in the book are my friends and I want to see where the future takes them. I highly recommend this book and the entire series for witchy, sexy fun!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC of this book.

This is the 3rd book in the series, where we finally get the romance of the final of the Maxwell triplets. Though I read the earlier two books in this series, I think it can be read pretty easily as a standalone. That said, this wasn't my favorite of the series (I think that was book 2!). However, it was still an enjoyable read in the same world.
