This books is the third in series but can be read as a standalone. (It will, however, spoil the endings of the first two books.)

This book was my favorite of the series so far. Olive Maxwell has recently moved in with Bax, the literal guardian angel of the crew. Reading about these two grow as people, push each others boundaries, and fall in love was a lot of fun. There was the forced proximity trope, friends to lovers, and I’m sure there are more I’m forgetting. One thing this book does well, but I usually can’t stand, is handling communication issues. Generally, characters have relationship struggles because they don’t sit down and talk. This book handles this trope, is it a trope?, really well. There are actual reasons that conversations don’t occur, not just because they didn’t want to or didn’t think about it.

Olive is by far my favorite Maxwell sister, the nerdy professor of the bunch, and Bax is probably my favorite love interest. He is kind, thoughtful, an obvious protector, and an incredible artist. Plus, there are definitely quite a few cameos readers will adore.

This book was light, fun, and made me smile. I definitely recommend it if you are looking for an escape.

Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for an arc of this book which I voluntarily read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I love the Supernatural Singles series, witch puns and all.
The dynamic of the sisters and their relationship as a trio is what keeps me reading. Since the first book, I was always curious about two characters Olive the youngest sister and Bax the guardian angel with an edge. So this book finally gave me my wish of getting some time with these characters and to explore their dynamic more.
The plot gets fun when predictable Olive decides to participate in her assignment she made for her students called a dare docket. She finds ways to push herself out of her comfort zone but by doing so gets flagged for needing a guardian angel and it is none other than Bax her new roommate who also happens to have a massive crush on her. He has only one rule to follow don't fall in love with the assignment which is easier said than done for Bax. This book brought everything you loved about the others and added even more of a comical element.
I really enjoyed the latest installment of the Maxwell sisters finding their soul matches and all the sexy mischief that ensues in between.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the E-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Professor of Supernatural Studies, witch, and the youngest of triplet sisters, Olive Maxwell is perfectly happy in her safe comfort zone. The craziest thing she’s done recently is move into edgy Guardian Angel Bax Donovan’s spare bedroom. The man is hot enough to give her heart palpitations and that’s enough excitement for her. That is until her pet project comes into contention for a large grant. Olive decides it’s only fair to participate in the research project she’s assigned her students. The Dare I Docket is designed to push people out of their comfort zones. As Olive starts to make a list of tasks that will push her limits, it triggers a warning at the Guardian Service and Bax is assigned to Olive as her Guardian Angel despite their friendship. Bax genuinely enjoys spending time with Olive, but he also needs to find a way to be near her for his job. So, he volunteers to do Olive’s Dare I Docket with her. Olive and Bax start to spend all their time together checking of items that make Olive and Bax both uncomfortable and their mutual crushes develop into something more. But with Bax keeping a huge secret from Olive, can their relationship last or will it blow up in their faces?

I loved returning to April Asher’s Supernatural Singles series. Not Your Crush’s Cauldron is the perfect addition as Asher continues to grow and build her world. Each book gets better as we get more details about the magic framework and types of people and creatures that populate the world. The writing flows well. It’s breezy, flirty and fun. The characters are quirky and hilarious, especially Harper. It’s a treat to see the Main Characters from the previous books and get updates on their lives. The bonds between this friend/family group are strong and heartwarming. Asher’s books are sex and body positive and full of girl power. The female characters are strong of mind and will. Olive and Bax together were cute and had great chemistry. I love a good friends to lovers story and Asher delivered. The angst was low, the drama minimal, and the sex hot. I can’t wait for Harper’s turn in the hot seat.

I love a good paranormal romance. Add in comedic banter, a giant angel, and a witchy professor and you’ve got the perfect brew! Olive and Bax have quite the adventure in this fun rom com and I loved seeing where their relationship took them. I also loved that we still got to see the previous characters and her sisters and friend as well! Grab this book when it releases. You will certainly be bewitched!

Not Your Crush's Cauldron was a fun RomCom full of forced proximity, awkward moments, friends-to-lovers, and ALL the green flags! I was drawn to this story because I have a massive soft spot for not-so-holy Guardian Angels that fall in love with nerdy girls. Honesty up front though, I didn't realize this was book 3 of a series. Oops! Fortunately, that didn't take away from my enjoyment at all. You could read this as a standalone but since the couples from the previous 2 books are very much present, I would recommend reading them in order. Looking back, I realized that I already had book 1, Not the Witch You Wed, on my TBR so I plan on going back and fixing my oversight soon.

Bax Donovan is a member of Guardian Angel Affairs (GAA). It's not his dream job but it pays the bills and gives him a modicum of distance from his overbearing father. The GAA reminded me of a secret bodyguard service. They keep tabs on those under their jurisdiction and the assigned angels do their best to secretly save their marks from danger, whether the person brought that danger on themselves or not. So imagine Bax's surprise when his next assignment is none other than his new roommate and secret crush, the straight-laced, bookish Olive, Every mark has its challenges but with Olive, keeping her safe while also keeping his distance may prove more than he can handle.

Olive is a textbook introvert and I loved her! She's more reserved and quiet than her sisters, prefering a peaceful night at home to clubbing. After fleeing a disastrous roommate situation, she's both excited and anxious to be taken in by Bax. On the one hand, he's almost always busy with work so she'll usually have the place to herself. On the other, he's been haunting her wildest fantasies for a while and having him that close just might not be good for her imagination. When Bax suddenly decides to help her with her Dare-I-Docket, a list of things designed to break her out of her routine, keeping those fantasies relegated to her imagination is becoming near impossible.

I honestly loved seeing Bax and Olive get to know each other through working Olive's list. The banter and awkwardness had me laughing out loud on multiple occasions, and a speed dating moment still has me giggling. Everything felt organic and not forced or overdone. Even when it came to the spice, it still leaned more into romance than pure smut, and I appreciate that. Although, I'm now highly curious about the Jacob's Ladder. IYKYK!

My only criticism would be that we never really get what landed Olive on GAA's radar in the first place. Was it just because of her list and desire to try new things? If so, that seems like a pretty flimsy reason. Nothing on it would've put her life in jeopardy, not even running off to join a circus. If that aspect was fleshed out a bit more, giving us a better sense of the danger and thus need for Bax's protection, I think this would've been perfection!

Thanks, Netgalley and St. Martin's Griffin, for the chance to read this and leave an honest review!

Thank you Netgalley and publisher for the advanced reader copy! 'Not Your Crush's Cauldron' grabbed my attention- cover, title, and book description- it is book 3 in the supernatural singles series.
As is typical, I didn't realize it was book 3 in a series until I was into the story- oh well. In this case, I recommend reading the preceding books, I had a difficult time following everything.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for providing me with an eArc in exchange for an honest review.

This is part of a series, but can definitely be read as a standalone. I've read the other two books in the series and found them to be super cute and fun to read. I was hoping the next one would be just as fun and Not Your Crush's Cauldron did not disappoint.

The main characters are easy to love and easy to root for. I found myself smiling more than once as I read the exchanges between them. I would recommend this book if you're looking for a simple, cutesy love story with a supernatural twist.

Olive Maxwell is a predictable witch, and professor of the supernatural world. She’s so predictable, that she even has a Monday-Wednesday-Friday outfit. After giving her students an assignment designed to get them outside of their comfort zones, Olive decides she shouldn’t give assignments she isn’t willing to complete herself. That’s how Olive finds herself trying new things with her friend, new roommate, and longtime crush, Baxter Donovan.

Bax is a Guardian Angel who has screwed up so many times in his line of work. After breaking two of the three Guardian Angel code of conduct rules, he’s now on his last chance. Somehow, always safe and predictable Olive has landed on the Guardian Angel Affairs radar, and Bax is assigned to protect her. But will keeping Olive safe lead Bax to break the final code of conduct rule: Don’t fall in love with your assignment?

Not Your Crush’s Cauldron is an adorable witchy romcom. Bax and Olive’s secret crushes on each other were so cute, and it was fun watching them push each other outside their comfort zones. The writing was a little cheesy/corny at times, but it didn’t stop me from enjoying this one. It was sweet and spicy, and a great spooky season read!

Fans of witchy, supernatural romances like the Ex Hex and The Kiss Curse, Not Your Crushes Cauldron is the perfect romance to get you into the Halloween spirit.
Olive makes a list of things to do to get her out of her comfort zone and is accompanied by her new roommate and unbeknownst to her, her guardian angel Bax. Bax has one last chance to prove himself as a guardian angel before his wings will be clipped. Following the rule of not falling in love with your assignment has never been a problem for him, until he’s assigned to protect Olive. However, when Olive find out that he is her guardian angel, she is left wondering whether all that has happened between them was genuine or not.
I gave this book 4 out of 5 stars. I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to others. The reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was because it didn’t have any special moments in it that were very memorable to me, but that is very subjective and it didn’t take away from my enjoyment of the book. The chemistry in this book was super good and I loved the characters. This book also had some of my favourite tropes in it which include: friends to lovers, roommates, and forced proximity. I liked the plot of this book and think that would be great to read during the fall season with all the supernatural characters in it.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

April Asher's Not Your Crushes Cauldron is the third book in a series about supernatural beings in the "normal world." This book revolves around witch Olive Maxwell and guardian angel Bax Donovan as they navigate their changing relationship from friends to roommates to possibly more.

This book was fantastic! It was entertaining, funny, and emotionally engaging. .I have been looking forward to Olive and Bax's story and it did not disappoint. You could tell that they had a solid friendship as a basis for their ever evolving relationship, and the sexual tension and chemistry between the two was very evident. I also enjoyed watching Olive try to get out of her comfort zone with Bax supporting her along the way and going out of his because of it.

As with the other two books in the series, this one contained the other Maxwell sisters Violet and Rose as well as many other supernatural beings that add a richness to the story. I am hoping that their demon friend Harper and shifter Adrien get a book as well. Harper is great and definitely deserves her own tale.

I have previously read books one and two in this series and this one was equally as good if not better because the world was built so richly that the focus could be more on the characters. I highly recommend this book, especially to readers of romance, fiction, and fantasy.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

April Asher has not disappointed me yet with her spicy and savvy witches!

This time we’re following Olive’s story right as she’s moved in with Baxter Donovan, Olive’s long time crush and soon to be (unbeknownst to either) her assigned guardian Angel. Because, obviously, Baxter’s an Angel.

During the novel Olive assigns her students to make a list of things they thought of doing that are out of their comfort zones. She decides to make one herself and complete the items on it and after his assignment, Baxter decides to join her.

This is a fun, witchy, story of trying new things and finding new love.

I absolutely loved this book. The whole series is phenomenal and addresses rediscovering yourself and following a new path which is incredibly relatable. The book and series is filled with all the best tropes and I absolutely devoured Olive and Bax’s story. Friends to roommates to more, forbidden love, forced proximity, and the encouragement to go outside your comfort zone is inspirational and an incredible story. This book is a must read, 100/10 and add all three supernatural singles books to your TBR immediately!

I received this book as an advanced review copy and offer my honest opinion voluntarily.

A huge thank you to April Asher, St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for an eARC in exchange for my honest opinion. Not Your Crush's Cauldron comes out February 13, 2024!!

Ever since reading the first novel in the Supernatural Singles series (interconnected standalones) I come to the conclusion that I would read anything that April Asher writes. Let me tell you the Not Your Crush's Cauldron lived up to the expectations I have after reading her previous novels. This one is about Olive, a witchy professor, and Bax, a not so amazing Guardian Angel. In this friends-to-lovers and forced proximity romcom the two end up living together after Bax offers Olive his guest room. To make the situation better two things happen that really fans the flame of their relationship. First Olive decides she is done being a boring professor and challenges herself to complete a dare I Docket List full of fun and exciting challenges. Second, Bax is assigned Olive as his new Guarding Angel assignment. Will Bax be able to follow the biggest Guardian Angel Code: don't fall in love with your Assignment.

Like I said I really did love this romance, and I say that even though I did find it a little hard to get into at first. But the combination of the side characters, the romance and the humor made it a book I didn't want to put down. I loved Bax and Olive, I thought they had a lot of growth separately and together. I also felt that they had such a lovely friendship that developed into a romance, seeing how I felt like the feelings were always there for both of them. It was very enjoyable to see the continuation of the other storylines as well. Their friend group really feels like a big found family. I simply cannot wait for more of April Asher's books to come out. If you are looking for a witchy, funny and spicy romcom Not Your Crush's Cauldron is the book for you!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️From the publisher St. Martin's Griffin: In April Asher's new Supernatural Singles novel, a witch takes a stroll on the wild-ish side, sparking an alert that saddles her with her very own Guardian Angel…who happens to be her secret crush—and new roommate.

Olive Maxwell much prefers teaching about the supernatural world to taking part in it and leaves the magical shenanigans to her two sisters—the Prima-Apparent and Bounty Hunter-In-Training. But after
assigning her college students a project designed to nudge them outside their comfort zones, Olive
realizes that she’s never once stepped a toe over her own…and it’s about time that changed. Her first
trip into the unknown? Moving in with her long-time crush—and friend…tattooed, motorcycle-riding,
and pleasantly pierced, Baxter Donovan.

Bax Donovan, Guardian Angel not-so-extraordinaire, has acquired so many black marks on his record it
looked like a scantron sheet. He’s given one last chance to keep his Guardian wings intact, a high-profile Assignment he knows all too well. Olive is usually as low-risk as it got. Hell, she wrote the safety manual.
But something landed her on the Guardian Affairs radar and his guess was it had something to do with the heart-pounding stunts she’s determined to check off her Dare I Docket list.

Keeping Olive out of trouble is about to be his toughest assignment yet, and not because he’s forced to
shake the dust off his feathers and embrace his inner aerialist. He’s at real risk of shattering the only
Guardian Angel Code of Conduct Rule he’s yet to break: Don’t fall in love with your Assignment. And he
isn’t so sure that’s a bad thing.

If love didn’t play by the rules, why should they?

My review:
This is the third book the Maxwell triplet series and it didn't disappoint.
Bax's bad boy guardian angel persona is super fun and Prof Olive definitely deserves his attention. This book was pretty spicy and creative. ;)

Olive and Bax face some danger and outside influences and it took a while for the story to build up to them overcoming trouble. But that meant they had more time together in the book than her sisters had with their significant others in books 1 and 2. (Thus the extra spiciness!) Olivia uses less magic than her sisters but she has control over it. We see a lot of Bax's powers and that's new since his "type" wasn't a part of the previous books. Impressive wingspan! All the characters coming together in this third book was one of the best parts. Knowing how Vi and Linc and Rose and Damian all came to be, and how they help Olive and Bax, was the chef's kiss ending.

These books are fun and funny and tell a good story. I love the genre of supernatural rom coms where the supes live normally in the regular world and everyone knows they exist. April Asher tells a good story with characters that have personality and promise. I really hope we get a book about the triplets' friends Harper and Adrian.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for a great trilogy ending and all of Olive's happy endings. Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martins Griffin for an advance digital copy of this book in exchange for my review.

So being super excited for the upcoming spooky season I applied for this book without realizing it was a third in a series. While I wish I would have read the previous two books before I read Not Your Crushes Cauldron, I did really enjoy it.

I love Bax and Olive’s friends to lover’s romance. I’m also a sucker for a good roommate romance.

I can’t wait to reread it now that I’m going back and reading the first two!

Having read the first two Supernatural Singles books, I was looking forward to Olive and Bax's story. Like the first two books, Not Your Crush's Cauldron had an overwhelming amount of cheesiness and cringeworthiness, but I've come to expect that with this series. Since I read an unedited ARC, I didn't expect perfect grammar or punctuation, but I do want to note that some of the run-on sentences were unnecessarily convoluted. I hope those get worked out in editing.

One issue I had, that I honestly can't remember if I experienced in the first two books, was feeling let down by chapter transitions. An exciting scene would be set up at the end of a chapter, and I'd eagerly start the next chapter to see the scene play out, only to have that chapter take place day(s) after the scene I was really looking forward to reading! This was pretty disappointing each time it happened, and it happened multiple times.

Overall, despite the cheesiness, convoluted run-on sentences, and disappointing chapter transitions, I did really enjoy Olive and Bax's story. It was great to see these characters finally get out of their comfort zones!

First of all, I really enjoyed Not Your Exs Hexes so when Not Your Crush’s Cauldron became available, I jumped right on it.

I enjoyed Bax and Olive’s story. They were so cute and the way they cared for each other made me smile through out the whole book.

The side characters and banter were great and made me
Laugh a lot.

I highly recommend adding this cute, fluffy, witchy rom-com to your tbr or reading it as soon as it comes out.

I received this ARC from NetGalley in an exchange for my own review.

5/5 stars! Gah! I just love everything April Asher writes so much! This is the third entry in her Supernatural Singles. I am obsessed with Bax and Olive. Their chemistry was off the charts and honestly, Bax is f*cking sexy bad boy goals. I also have a soft spot for fallen angel vibes sooooo I may be biased. I cannot wait to see what April writes next.

I received a free copy of this book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review

OMG am I obsessed with the all the characters! Bax is literally sweetest Guardian Angel ever and didn’t deserve the grumpy bear sticker on his bike lol. I loved how Olive and Bax’s relationship progressed throughout the book. I’m glad to see how in the end Bax and Olive were able to understand each other and work out what had happened. And now I want to see Olive’s tattoo and Bax’s wings in real life. Everyone needs someone like Harper if they plan to step out of their comfort zone, although my choice would be someone like Bax always! The only thing that left me wanting to know more was the fact that we didn’t learn much about both Bax’s mom and Olive’s parents.

This book is the third book in this series and its about Olive the third sister. After reading the first two books I was so ready for this one. Check out my review for Not The Witch You Wed and Not Your Ex's Hexes.

So far these books have been amazing I loved the first two books and couldn’t wait to read this one. I could feel the tension growing between these two from the first book I was so ready!

Olive is the smartest of the triplets and is super into research and learning. She lives a very predictable lifestyle and always have. Her sisters are completely opposite of her and love causing chaos so she's resigned herself to being the calm triplet.

But now she's becoming tired of being the boring triplet and not living life to the fullest. So she decides to do the assignment she gives her class herself. She needs to step out of her comfort zone and what better way to do it?

While doing all of this she is now living with her long time crush and finds it hard to be around him but she has no other choice at this point.

Bax heard Olive needed a place to stay and he offered up his home right away, even though he's been crushing hard on Olive for all the time that he's known her he can't leave her in the situation that she's currently in.

“It’s my pleasure, angel.” His arms followed, holding her cold cheek against his chest. “I’m at your service, forever and always.”

Bax is a guardian angel doesn’t love his job as a guardian angel but thinks he has no choice because of his family, there have been generations of Donovan's that have been guardians. Warrior guardians at that and his dad already thinks he's a failure because he couldn’t become a warrior.

Now Bax is tasked with being Olive's guardian and has to keep her out of trouble while not stifling her. He wants her to do what she wants but keep her safe so he has to stick to her side.

While Bax and Olive start to take on the items on the docket list they start to get closer and closer and you can feel the chemistry between the two.

“Yes, being your Guardian gave me the opportunity to be close to you. It gave me the chance to dance with you and make snow angels in the park. All the things we did together that I will remember for the rest of my life. But you’re the reason I did it.”

And then one day things get intense and it's everything I wanted it to be. For being an angel he sure does have a filthy mouth. Let just say things get hot between the Angel and the Witch.

I absolutely loved every minute of this book and all the heat between Olive and Bax, this was a slow burn but there were moments in this book when I thought there was going to be more action but it was definitely a tease. Which only made the build up even better.

And the relationship with her sisters and Harper was the best! Friends that are always there no matter what, by her side helping when she needs it the most. I loved how they all pitched in to help her complete her list. True friends!

I also loved to see how Olive's friends was with Harper was, not only did she have her sisters and their mates but Harper was always there for her.

This book was everything I wanted and more. I hope there is another book for Harper's story because she's such an important part of all these books we need her story.
