Corny and a little bit disappointing honestly. The macho vibes of the male main character just left a sour taste in my mouth. Something about this book speaks to such heteronormativity and gender essentialism that I felt weird reading it. I finished it to say I finished the series.

I am always down for a witchy , spicy rom-com and Asher didn’t disappoint with this one!

This friends to lovers novel was a delight.

I didn’t realize it was a series in which the minor characters were main characters from the others in the series. Despite not having read the others, this one was still a great and could be a standalone.

The couple was absolutely adorable and super horny throughout the story.

The chapter titles were hilarious and witty.

"Not Your Crush's Cauldron" by April Asher is a delightful addition to the paranormal romance genre, focusing on the story of Olive, the third sister in a trio of witches. This novel, part of a series, stands out for its charming blend of magic, romance, and humor.

The narrative centers on Olive and her evolving relationship with Bax, a dynamic that transitions from friends to lovers. Their journey is heartwarming, as both characters step out of their comfort zones and grow together. The chemistry between Olive and Bax is palpable, making their romance both believable and engaging.

One of the novel's strengths is its vibrant cast of characters, particularly the triplets, who are nosy, loyal, and utterly delightful. The interactions within this friend group add depth and humor to the story, enhancing the overall reading experience.

The plot incorporates elements of a roommate, forced proximity, and a forbidden relationship, which are well-executed and contribute to the tension and eventual realization of love between Olive and Bax. Asher's writing is praised for its ability to balance these romantic tropes with the whimsical aspects of a paranormal setting.

Overall, "Not Your Crush's Cauldron" is a cute and enjoyable read that will appeal to fans of paranormal romance and those who appreciate a good friends-to-lovers story. April Asher successfully delivers a novel that is both magical and heartwarming, making it a standout in its genre.

I loved books one and two of the Supernatural Singles Series. I looked forward to Not Your Crush’s Cauldron; however, I was disappointed.

I didn’t care for Olive’s character and I’m not positive why exactly. I didn’t like Bax and Olive together. Their chemistry felt lacking to me. The plot itself was good but the execution fell short for me.

I do think a lot of people will love Not Your Crush’s Cauldron.

Olive Maxwell has always felt a little like the odd one out of the three sisters. She likes to teach craft, blend with the crowd a bit more, and isn't the sister most people notice. All that starts to change when Olive moves in with her long time friend and crush, Baxter, an angel. He seems to see things about Olive that others don't and lets her know. And Olive starts to wonder if the feelings might be mutual.

Olive felt very relatable to me. As an academic myself, I totally got it. What I really dug more than anything was the connection with Bax. He was always kind of a background character, but the way this book let him shine was fantastic. And the way he gave Olive some confidence and support she needed was even better.

Overall, I really enjoyed this one. Thank you for the ARC!

Listen, April Asher's books are just fun, plain and simple!! Her characters are super likable, the hijinx they get into is always a good time, and who doesn't love a little steam? Not Your Crush's Cauldron is a cute friends-to-lovers romance, which isn't normally my favorite trope but the dash of the supernatural sold me on it. If you love a witchy romance and are looking for a good beach read, definitely pick this one up.

I could not get into this book at all. That may have been because I did not know it the third in a series, but it felt like work to read. I felt like I was lost most of the time. I would recommend reading the first two prior to this one.

I want to thank Netgalley & St. Martin's Press, St. Martin's Griffin for an ARC of this book.

I have absolutely adored this trilogy! I think Not Your Crush's Cauldron was my favorite of the three because I can easily identify with Olive--except for the whole magic thing. She's smart, inciteful, but has some insecurities she needs to deal with. And I really liked Bax's ability to bring out the best in her, and vice versa. This was so cute and I loved the continuation of the story. I'm hoping there will be more!

I started this book then very quickly realized I had no idea what was going on, and who was who.. After looking up some more information I learned it was number 3 in a series. I wish publishers would write very plainly on the description that a book was number 2, 3, + in a series.

This was a cheesy, adorable novel. I was instantly hooked by the concept. Who doesn't love the idea of the straight-laced girl going full daredevil and her guardian angel thinking he's got an easy ass job protecting her! This is an adorable book and I love April Asher's writing style.

This was so fun! All the books in the series have been a blast, and I especially enjoyed the tattoo storyline in this one.

Supernatural Singles series #3. Witchy paranormal romance. Can be read as a standalone but better as part of the series of the three sisters. Olive Maxwell much prefers teaching about the Supernatural world to taking part in it and leaves the magical shenanigans to her two sisters. After assigning her college students a project designed to nudge them outside their comfort zones, Olive realizes she’s never once stepped a toe out of her own . . . and it’s about time that changed. Baxter Donovan, Guardian Angel not-so-extraordinaire, has acquired so many black marks on his record it looks like a Scantron test. He’s been given one last chance to keep his Guardian wings—a high-profile Assignment he knows all too well. Olive is usually as low-risk as it gets. Hell, she wrote the safety manual. The pacing felt off, way too slow with no real stakes in the book. My favorite parts were when the sisters would be together, which didn’t really happen a lot until the end.

Thank you NetGalley, the author and publisher.

This series is a fun, charming witchy fantasy. Not my all time favorite, but I did enjoy reading it. Olive and Bax had some sweet moments and some steamy ones (although there could have been more of those). Overall, a cute ending to this series.

I really enjoyed the other books in this series so I was really excited to get to Olive and Bax's book.

The friend group is one of the best parts of this series and they didn't disappoint here. The triplets are nosy and loyal and a damn delight when they're all together. And don't get me started on Harper. Bax has been an enigma and I still feel like he is.

Plot wise, it was okay. If felt rushed and some points and directionless at others, almost like there were too many plot threads to have. I would have liked more information about Bax and being a Guardian (especially since we got his POV), but everything was pretty superficial.

Overall, it's the characters that kept me going here, but I feel like I could have left this one unfinished. However, if there is more to the series, I'll read it.

**Huge thanks to the publisher for providing the arc free of charge**

Not Your Crush’s Cauldron by April Asher is the third book in the paranormal romance Supernatural Singles series. Just like a lot of romance series the Supernatural Singles series changes main characters in each new book of the series with the world building being what ties them together. Since we have new characters in each book these books can be read as a standalone if choosing to do so.

Olive Maxwell is a teacher and prefers quietly sitting back teaching about the supernatural world than being a big part of it like her two sisters. When Olive hands out an assignment to her students that just may get them out of their comfort zone Olive wonders why she stays so solidly in her own.

This realization that she’s always playing it safe and staying in the shadows leads Olive to begin making some big changes in her life. One of those changes was to move into Baxter Donovan’s and with that renew her longtime crush on the handsome guardian angel. Bax soon finds out that Olives new antics have gotten her on someone’s radar and he has been chose to protect her but rule number one of guarding is don’t fall for your assignment.

Having read the first two Supernatural Singles books I knew what to expect going into Not Your Crush’s Cauldron by April Asher. These paranormal romances are basically like taking a romcom story and setting in a supernatural world and I found each a lot of fun. This third book may just have been my favorite of the series with watching the lead step out of her comfort zone which of course led to a lot of laugh out loud moments along the way. There really was growth with both characters though and that’s always a draw in a romance, fantasy or otherwise and when finished this is definitely an author I would return to in the future.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

Not Your Crush's Cauldron by April Asher is the third book in the Supernatural Singles series. Where a witch takes a stroll on the wild-ish side, sparking an alert that saddles her with her very own Guardian Angel…who happens to be her secret crush―and new roommate.

Olive Maxwell is the youngest triplet and prefers to teach and research rather than actually using her supernatural powers. She never steps a toe out of line, while Bex Donovan, Guardian Angel, already has some black spots on his record. When she starts a quest to complete her Dare I Docket list, he gets assigned to water her over to save his career.

I read the first two books in this series and thoroughly enjoyed them both, but this one is my favorite. Watching Olive leave her comfort zone, find herself, and stand up for herself was heartwarming. Meanwhile, Bex supported her and gave her the courage to achieve her goals. The relationship between Bex and Olive is so believable because when you find the person you love how, their support can make the hard things easier! This book is so fun and flirty, following Olive's work through her list with Bex, her sisters, and her demon best friends (which was a fantastic side character in this book, and I would love more of Harper)!

I'm sad to see this series end, but I loved being in this world and the heartwarming feelings that April Asher sparked with her books. I would highly recommend picking up these witchy romcoms!

Olive and Bax’s story is really cute, though this one didn’t quite hit the mark that books one and two set for me. I liked that Olive got to try new things and develop more of confidence by the end of this one. It is definitely slower in that sense, since it feels like the focus is on self-discovery. And Bax takes a while to finally accept that he can live life for himself and not care about what his dad would do or say, to live the life that will make himself happy. The Docket items that they tackle together are fun and cute, but the slower pace just meant I had more time to dread the eventual reveal (which, unsurprisingly, was revealed by a third party), but I also wasn’t as absorbed in this one. Vi and Linc’s story is still my favorite. I loved the appearances from all the triplets and Harper, and Edie and even Gage. I think I was waiting to get a little more about Olive and Bax’s pasts, which might’ve made their story seem stronger and give more context. Bax’s dad ends up being pretty one-dimensional, unfortunately. Kind of like how the Maxwell sisters’ mother was just irritating in Vi’s book lol.

If Harper does eventually get a book with Adrian, I hope we get a little more exploration of why she hates the word love so much because my interest is piqued.

I think the strongest elements of this one are still the friendships/family and the support network they provide for each other. And I did enjoy the way Bax and Olive fit together and balanced each other out, boosting each other’s confidence and supporting each other just by being there for each other.

Thank you to Netgalley/St. Martin’s Griffin for the ARC!

3.75, rounded up! The third book in the Supernatural Singles series, and I just love it! It is no surprise, if you know me, how much I love witchy books, and April Asher never disappoints. However, I did prefer the previous two books to this one. Despite that, it was still very enjoyable! Bax and Olives relationship is very sweet, just in general I find Asher's romances to be fluffy/sweeter (which is a very good thing in my book!), and the magical elements not overbearing. It's all just wonderfully executed! Also tatted MC, hello! Thank you April Asher and publisher for the arc!
