“One person’s truth is rarely exactly the same as someone else’s. Truth tends to stretch and bend out of shape to best fit its owner. People remember things differently. And our memories can make liars out of us all.”

This new, domestic suspense thriller from Alice Feeney was an entertaining ride! I’ve read almost all of this author’s books and pretty much always feel like her stories deliver for me. There is something about the twisty, bendy characters she writes that have all their flaws and still pull you in rather quickly. This book is a slower pace than her usual reads, but I found it helped bring me into the story even more. Not a favorite from this author for me, but still a solid release that I can see people enjoying!

The audiobook was especially fantastic and one I definitely recommend! We follow multiple different women and learn about their pasts, relationships with those around them, and their thoughts/feelings toward their families. The premise of “sometimes bad things happen to good people, so good people have to do bad things” definitely piqued my interest before I even began this read!

Thanks so much to the publisher, Flatiron, and Macmillan Audio for the audio ARC via NetGalley. All thoughts in this review are my own. Good Bad Girl has a pub date of August 29, 2023.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. At first I was confused by the switching of voices, but once I got to know the characters it brought the story together. Overall, good read!

I have enjoyed the books I’ve read by Alice Feeney and this book was no exception. I enjoyed that the story is told from the perspective of several different women and from two different timelines. This story is about flawed mothers and their daughters. This book is about hope and forgiveness but also about how far the ripples from our mistakes can go. I liked the characters in this book, even the characters that aren’t likable were well done. I will admit that I didn’t find it to be this author’s most twisty book I loved the way the story very slowly came together. This book is a mystery about a murder but also about a kidnapping that was never solved. This is a hard book to truly describe without giving things away so I will direct you to the description but also suggest you just pick this one and give it a try. I listened to this one on audiobook and I feel like the narrator did an excellent job bringing all of the characters to life.

I really wanted to love this one. At first I really did, but as It went I got confused. All the characters and names I found my self a little less interested as it went. Things I really liked were the mother/daughter relationship and the realness of how complicated they can be. As the story went the twists and turns came together with a satisfying ending. I really liked the narrator of the book, it was really enjoyable listen.
3.5

Good Bad Girl is the fourth book I’ve read from Alive Feeney and I honestly just can’t get enough of her. In this read, Feeney weaves a tale of several people together so intricately that you cannot figure out how all the piece fit until the very end. It left me absolutely gasping in surprise. You won’t be sorry you gave it a go.

I found the story to be kind of slow to start, but characters need to be developed somehow i guess. I didn't get me interested until about 50% through the book and even then I wasn't thoroughly hooked. I did find the book confusing at times, I was having a hard time following the plot and the different points of view. It did all get tied together in the end but I had to keep rewinding parts to make sure I heard them correctly because I was slightly confused. With that being said, I thought I knew where the story was going, but NOPE, I was wrong, so it did have a few surprises which I enjoyed. I think all in all it was a well written book and in the end I did like it but I feel like it took too long to get there.

The audiobook was narrated by Katherine Press and Stephanie Racin. I found the the volume of the characters seemed to be different, some were quiet and some were loud. When listening I had to keep turning the volume up and down depending on the chapter/character.

I have read other books by Alice Feeney and enjoyed them, but this one didn't really do it for me.

Thank you to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for providing me with an early copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I did enjoy this reading experience, despite being confused for the first 40% or so. When there are multiple POVs, you know the characters have to be connected and trying to piece that puzzle together was a fun experience. This wasn't my favorite Alice Feeney book, but I would still give it 3.5 stars! Overall, I found Good Bad Girl to be a twisty read with a satisfying ending.

Thank you to NetGalley for the arc in return for an honest review.

Alice Feeny, the queen of clever twists, never disappoints! I loved Good Bad Girl, specifically the audio version that had wonderful narrators. This book had a complex plot with 4 different character POV’s that had me engaged from start to finish, but was also easy to follow. Such an emotional and addictive thriller!

This book was a little confusing at first, but it all came together with a wonderful twist at the end. Definitely recommend this book. Alice Feeney does it again.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC.

Gosh I love a Feeney book! They move fast and your minds all over the place with theories. Just the best!!!

Good Bad Girl doesn’t disappoint with mainly a female cast (that was super cool) of characters, a murder, and a past/present/future timeline. Excellent read!!!

Enjoyed the various voices done by the narrator and how she added to the story.

“Being a mother is a strange case of love, hate, and guilt.”

Alice Feeney is the queen of twisty thrillers and that’s just all there is to it. Every time I read one of her books, I know I’m absolutely in for it. No one takes me on a journey the way she does and I always love every minute.

We have four main women that we follow throughout, and it is off and running from the beginning. A baby is stolen from a stroller and there’s a murder at a care home. The crimes are somehow linked, but as the story unfolds it’s hard to pinpoint exactly how. It starts off a little bit slowly, but that doesn’t take away from the story.

There’s a focus on motherhood and how that affects women throughout their lives. I think this is always fascinating, no matter the genre. There is the stereotypical idealization of motherhood that we always see and aspire to. But the realities of motherhood can be harsh, and stories that explore this are always so gut-wrenching. This adds a deep layer to an already thrilling story.

The women’s live start to connect in such an intricate, twisty was that only Alice Feeney can write. Everything leads up to this incredible revelation, showing just how much these characters have had to conceal. The different perspectives really help to disorient the reader because you want to try to figure out how these women are connected before it’s revealed. It does have some moments that go at a slower pace, but the payoff is definitely worth it.

The audiobook is so well done, which isn’t surprising since I’ve done 3 of her other books on audio. The narrator really embodies the confusion and creepiness, and I love that in a thriller. There is such emotion displayed that it really brings the reader deep into the story.

I am an Alice Feeney fangirl, so thank you so much for giving me the chance to listen to this audiobook! As usual, I think the writing was very engaging and the plot was well done. It ended up being not my favorite of Alice's stories, but I still very much enjoyed it. I can't wait for the next book from this author!

Twenty years ago, a baby was stolen from a stroller and never returned. The ripple effect on peoples’ lives is far spread, as years later a murder occurs at a retirement home that is related somehow to the missing baby girl. Edith may be old, but she still has her wits about her. Patience works at her retirement home, and is helping her plot her escape. Clio is Edith’s daughter and is insistent that she stay in care. Can Edith really trust Patience?

In the way that only Alice Feeney can, she takes complex personal relationships and weaves a tangled web between all the characters that keeps you turning pages. None of the characters were particularly likeable, some were downright awful. But I literally could not stop listening until I found out how they were all connected! Some parts were guessable, but most were not. I loved the detective and I hope she resurfaces in some of Feeney’s other works. If you like a thriller that makes your brain tick, this is a good one for you. Thanks to @macmillan.audio and @netgalley for my review copy. The narrator was superb!

Another Great Alice Feeney book! I was hooked from start to finish and definitely didn’t see the twists coming! As always with this author, the writing was amazing and the pace was perfect. The narrators did a good job but I found it really hard to keep track of the 3 POV and who was who so I would definitely recommend the physical book on this one.

I am a big Alice Feeney fan, I've read almost all of her books. The first 35% of the book was a lot for me, but please note this was also my first fiction audiobook in at least a decade, so it could be completely my fault for not following closely. There was a lot of character foreground laid out, and enjoyed all of the details. The last half of the book was was a delight, and what we know Alice Feeney for, and the twists keep coming!

Alice Feeney has definitely established her place in the twisty world of suspense thrillers. I’m always so excited to see she has a new release and this one definitely delivered.
I listened to the audio on a recent road trip and was very entertained by the oration of the story as well.
The cast of mostly female characters are well developed and you can’t wait to hear how the two stories will collide. I definitely recommend this one!

Alice Feeney does it again with her twisty, "I didn't see that coming" domestic thriller story telling. This story follows the narration of Clio, Patience, Frankie, and Edith. These women are all connected, and so are their stories... The way Feeny connects everything is genius. She had me on the edge of the seat until the very end of of the book. Good Bad Girl explores the ins and outs of being a mother, having to sometimes be "bad" in life, and that sometimes family do keep secrets from each other. I read this as an audiobook, so the narrator was fantastic as well. Bravo all around!

Thank you for the advanced reader copy of this book. All reviews are of my own opinion based on the ARC copy.

🎧 4.5/5 ⭐️ I’m surprised this was considered a thriller. To me it felt more like a non fiction novel with a hint of mystery. Not the typical edge of your seat who done it, for me the other story lines took priority. I’m a sucker for the intertwined story lines and this book had them! The mother daughter relationship took a front seat compared to the who killed who. This may be my favorite Alice Feeney book, understanding it’s not quite the thriller you typically think.

It took about 15% to get into the book and understand where it was going but I listened to the last 60% in one sitting. I couldn’t wait to hear how everything unfolded.

4.5 / Alice Feeney nails it again. Twists on twists on twists. Wow. From the start I felt an overwhelming sense of confusion, like I’m walking in the dark. But slowly, one by one, the pieces start clicking into place. Alice Feeney creates such an intricate web of characters that tell such a wild story. While none of the women involved are necessarily “good people”, I was so entranced by their story and loved them as interesting characters. Though I considered a few of the earlier twists so they didn’t shock me, the few at the end left me shook. I had literal chills. I’ve listened to several Alice Feeney books by this narrator and always love listening to them. Such a clever telling of such a complex and crazy story.
