A missing child; a runaway and murder 20 years later. How are they related?

I absolutely loved this slow burn thriller. Alice Feeney is a master of her craft.

Dual timelines plus multiple POVs kept me engaged the entire time and resulted in great character development.

I guessed one of the connections pretty early on, but I think it was set up that way. The other twists were expertly crafted and if found myself saying cwell done Alice. Bravo!"

In the end, this was an emotional story that left me a bit choked up, and I wouldn't want it any other way!

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This quote really hit me "Sometimes bad people are just sad people in disguise"

I also liked these quotes:

"Mother knows best but sometimes it's best mother doesn't know."

"There is often a gap between what we think and what we say; it's where what we feel lives."

The audio was superbly done and I highly recommend it.

Good Bad Girl was one of my most anticipated books of the fall, and I was thrilled to receive the ALC!

This is a good one to go into blind. Just know it involves a murder, a kidnapping, four women, and plenty of twists. Cleverly written, with an ending that left me surprised over and over. This is a classic Alice Feeney book, with a slow burn set up followed by a race to the finish.

I was curious the whole time to figure out if and how the four women were connected, and I couldn’t stop listening after hitting the halfway mark. All the women seem to have done bad things, and many phrases debate whether you can be a good person while doing bad things. Feeney always writes some interesting phrases that really stick in your head, and this book has plenty of them.

I would call this a mystery or suspense rather than a true thriller, considering I almost forgot that someone had been murdered while trying to piece together the rest of the puzzle.

Thank you to NetGalley and MacMillan Audio for the ALC in exchange for my honest opinion.

Good Bad Girl
By: Alice Feeney
Narrated by: Katherine Press & Stephanie Racine

Publication date: August 29, 2023

“Sometimes bad things happen to good people, so good people have to do bad things.”

Twenty years after a baby is stolen from a stroller, a woman is murdered in a care home. This story follows 4 different women, first there is Edith a 80 year old women in a care home that is trying to escape because her daughter Cilo put her in the home against her will. Edith makes friends with one of the care home employees Patience who agrees to help break her out. Patience ran away from home on her 18 birthday and her mom is determined to find her. Through a bunch of twist and turns we learn about the baby that was stolen and how these 4 women are connected.

Let me start off with what I liked about this book:
- [ ] multiple povs
- [ ] The narrators
- [ ] The twist!
- [ ] The ending was great

What wasn’t my favorite:
- [ ] It didn’t start to pick up till about 55%
- [ ] It was a bit confusing to remember what was going on while listening to the audio

Overall I would recommend this book if you are a fan of thrillers that keep you on the edge of your seat. Even with it having a slow start this book really tuned it around with the final twist!

Thank you NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for gifting me this ACR in exchange for my honest review.

This book was a decent listen but wasn't spectacular. I had a little trouble keeping up with who was who, and then the twist and ultimate ending was just hard to track because of that. Sometimes I think authors try too hard to make the twist unpredictable and then it just gets clumsy. There were aspects of this book that I enjoyed, and it kept me mostly entertained, just not enough to go above 3 stars.

Thank you Netgalley for allowing me to read and review this audiobook. Overall this story followed Alice Feeny's usual story line. This switching of perspectives can be hard to follow but once you get the hang of it the story line lays itself out. This book makes the reader think they have it all figured out but that is not the case! The clues give the reader the idea that they can solve the mystery but it is a surprise when they find out they are very wrong! At times the story felt slow and as if it dragged a little bit but once you reach the Alice Feeny plot twist the last half of the book flies by.
I recommend this read to anyone who enjoys a slow burn thriller and wants a book where they can follow the clues to try and solve the mystery. Although this was not my favorite Alice Feely read it definitely stacks up to her clean writing style and the mystery and thriller effect that she is known for.

This is one of those books that I really enjoyed and my jaw dropped at a few of the twists. BUT there was a lot of this that was unrealistic and convenient. I'm really good at overlooking the minute details, though. ;) This was a really good thriller and most who like that genre would enjoy it.

Another fantastic novel by Feeney. I received this audiobook from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This story is told in the voices of four different characters; Edith, Patience, Frankie and Clio. The novel opens in the past with the kidnapping of a young baby at a grocery store. This baby was never found and now, twenty years later, we learn the extent of devastation this kidnapping left. Edith and her daughter Clio (the mother of the lost child) have a strained relationship. Edith is placed in a nursing home and is not happy about this at all. She has befriended Patience, a cleaning person at the nursing home and daughter to Frankie. Frankie is a librarian at a prison and is desperately searching for her daughter (Patience) who ran away from home. The stories all converge when a woman at the nursing home is murdered. Each of the women have a motive to commit this crime. . As the mystery of the murdered woman is being investigated, no one knows who they can believe or trust. Is this murder somehow connected to the kidnapping from twenty years ago? As the story climaxes, long hidden secrets are revealed and the truth behind the two incidents begins to come through. This was a great story with some major surprise twists at the end. I gave this novel 5 solid stars!

More of a family drama vs a thriller, but also a lot of characters to keep track of. Honestly, I had a hard time until about 30% of the audio and I had a friend send me a map of the characters because I was so confused. That said I still enjoyed the narration and story overall. I'm not the biggest Feeney fan so take this with a grain of salt!

I LOVED THIS ONE. The twists, the intertwining of so many lives. Brilliant. The twist at the end had my jaw on the floor omg.

This was a little confusing for me. Not sure if it’s because I listened on audio and was distracted or just too many characters. But it was just meh for me. Plot was okay, twists were just sub par and I didn’t love it as much as I’ve liked some of her other stuff.

Thanks NetGalley for the ARC

📚 Review: Good Bad Girl 🐞
I was so happy to receive this ALC from NetGalley and Macmillan Audio I immediately started listening because this was one of my most anticipated reads of the year. Anything Alice Feeney writes is gold. 💫 And although I ended up really enjoying it by the end, I was a somewhat confused most of the book and that brought my rating down. I don’t really even want to say too much about the plot. Everyone can read the synopsis on their own if they want. But the book is told in multiple POVs, 4 women. They are Clio, Frankie, Patience and Edith, but you’re not sure how they all tie in with each other. And I know that is the point, we are supposed to put the puzzle pieces together along the way. But it was difficult at times to follow along and keep the story straight and who was who. (At least for me it was) I think it could’ve been because there was 4 different POVs/women, however there was only 2 narrators. So, even though each chapter let you know whose POV it was, only having two different voices, would trip me up. So maybe it would’ve been easier to follow along, had I just read the actual book and didn’t listen to it. Or, if it had 4 different people for the 4 different characters. 🤷🏻‍♀️
Now, by the time the book was ending and everything was fitting together, I did end up enjoying it. But again, I was just confused for a good portion of it. I actually restarted it at one point and thought it was just me and I must’ve missed something, but no, I didn’t miss anything.
This book did end up being good, like I said. Feeney’s clever writing style had me thinking and guessing the whole time. But, this sadly, wasn’t my favorite of hers. It just didn’t have her shocking twist that her books like Rock Paper Scissors or His And Hers had. And for me, that was kind of a let down too.
This was one of my most anticipated reads of the year too. But maybe my expectations were too high or something. But, please don’t let me sway you away from this book. Most of you may love it and I may just be an outlier here. This will definitely NOT keep me away from reading other books by her in the future. She is still one of my favorite authors. ALWAYS will be!!
This was sadly ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫/5 stars for me!! 😔

Do you love Alice Feeney like me? What’s your favorite book of hers? (Mine is still Rock, Paper, Scissors ✂️)

Alice Feeney is an auto buy thriller author for me! She always tells the best stories with twists I don’t see coming. I wouldn’t say this one is a crazy thriller like I’m used to. I found the entire book super quotable- she has so many good lines that I would have liked to highlight but this was more a story that is about family (mostly mother and daughter) relationships that just happens to sprinkle in a who dun it murder. I struggled to try and piece together how everyone was connected which I know is the point but if confused me a bit especially with just listening on audio and it flipping between characters and timelines. The story did come together in the end and I loved seeing where she took it but I just didn’t love it as much as I love her other works - maybe because I was expecting more of a creepy thriller. It was still a good story with twists I didn’t see coming and I did enjoy it over all. I love the narrator and thought she did a great job telling the story.

Alice Feeney has been a favorite of mine since she released Sometimes I Lie. I have read everything she has written and loved it all. This was no exception. This was such a twisted thrilling book. I could t put it down. She is really high on my list of must reads anytime she releases anything. The narrarator also did a really good job and was pleasant to listen to and kept my attention. I would listen to more books she reads.

Twenty years after a baby is stolen from a stroller, a woman is murdered in a care home. Edith has been put in this home by her son but she plans her escape. Edith's daughter Clio won't speak to her. Following these characters and knowing what they are thinking, leaves the reader wondering what is going on and how are these people connected. And yes, there is plenty to connect so pay attention!

Three suspects, two murders and one victim.... but you will have to read the book to find out just what this means. How can there be two murders but only one victim?

This book seems a bit different that Feeney's other books but I not only liked it, I will reread this one with fresh eyes!

My thanks to Net Galley and MacMillian audio for an advanced copy of this audiobook. I loved the narrator who sounded so much like Julie Andrews!

Thank you Net Galley and Publishers for allowing me an opportunity to read this book.
I think this book had a few good plot twists and turns as most of the this Author's books do. I was along for the ride the entire read wondering what was actually going on. I think that the way all of the characters became connected made the story really fill out in the end. I did find this to be a tad slow at times but hung on before skipping to the end.

Thank you Alice Feeney, Macmillan Audio, and NetGalley for this advance listening copy in exchange for my honest review!

I loved Daisy Darker and was so excited to read this book. The narrators did a great job and I did enjoy this audiobook. I will say that it was a little bit harder to keep the characters straight in the beginning. I think that had more to do with how many POVs there were than it did with the audiobook itself. While I enjoyed the overall story, it didn't grab and keep my attention from the start. "Good Bad Girl" had a slow build, but once it the plot really started to build the pacing was better. I am the type of thriller/suspense reader that will try and figure out the twist while reading. I was able to guess some of the twists, but there was one that I didn't see coming. Alice Feeney is the Queen of Twists and I can't wait to read what she writes next!

This was a really interesting book to listen too. The narrator Katherine Press & Stephanie Racine did a really god job. At times I got a little confused between the characters but that can happen when listening to a book instead of reading it. This was a slow burn but once it got going you couldn't wait to figure out where she is going with this story. I saw some of the twists coming but not all of them. This was a really good book and I can't wait to read more of her books as she writes them. Highly recommend!!

Oh my goodness. This easily became my favorite Alice Feeney book and very well may be put in the running for book of the year! The first half of the book you aren't exactly sure how the different points of views and characters tie in with each other, but as you begin to figure it out, if you're anything like me, you'll become even more interested. Even though I did figure out part of the connection, there was still a twist that I did not see coming at all.

Told through multiple viewpoints, this book has family, love, loss, grief, joy, murder, kidnapping, you name it! Seriously, I could NOT put it down. I listened to it in two sittings. The audiobook narrator did a great job but I think this would have been great in print as well. Do NOT hesitate. Go pick up Good Bad Girl!

5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Feeney always brings the mind blowing twists and plots that keep me turning the pages and wondering what will she come up with next.
👶
A mother who is having a hard time after the birth of her baby might be suffering from depression and has second thoughts. Her baby is stolen out of her stroller.
👶
Twenty years later a lady is murdered in a care home. There is a connection. Edith is in the care home and she is 80 and bonds with Patience who works at the facility. As with most psychological thrillers nothing is as it seems. It has multiple POV and revolves around Mother’s Day!

Thank you Macmillian Audio, Netgalley and author Alice Feeney for this advanced copy. This outstanding thriller is due out August 29th. She is always an auto-buy author for me. The narrators did an excellent job with this novel.
