Good Bad Girl by Alice Feeney. I have several Alice Feeney books on my shelf but this is the first one I have read. It did NOT disappoint! I received an ARC of the audiobook and I could not stop listening. This book pulled me in from the first page. I loved everything about this book and wouldn’t change a thing! So many unexpected twists! 5 stars and one of my favorite books this year!!! Thanks Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for the ARC! This will be published on August 29th!

In Good Bad Girl we are treated to multiple narrators as we try to determine who is the hero and who is the villian in the story. We meet Edith in a care home, hoping to get out while also trying to solve a murder happening inside. Patience who cares for in the home and Edith's daughter Cleo. Frankie is introduced as a prison librarian who is searching for her run away 18 year old daughter - it is also in clear that she is in the mix. All of these women are flawed and have made mistakes, the only question is, can they overcome the past?
When there is an accident in the care home a strange police detective becomes involved and we are off the races. Are one of these women related to the baby that disappeared at the start of the story. The components did not fit together well for me and I felt a bit of it was just forced. It did keep me guessing though, and I think you will enjoy the suspense!
Narrators Katherine Press and Stephanie Racine did excellent jobs - I fell in love with Edith and her accent #Macmillan #Goodbadgirl #AliceFeeney

"We are all made up of stardust and stories".
At first I wasn't sure what these four women would have in common, but sure enough the twists and turns brought them all together. The story kept me interested and engaged, I wanted to know whodunnit AND how these women connected! I'd definitely read more by Alice Feeney!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

Alice Feeney at her best. I loved this one!
A baby went missing 20 years ago in a supermarket and the case was never solved.
Patience is young and hiding out, living in an attic and working off the record for a retirement home.
Edith has been left in the retirement home by her estranged daughter, Clio. She befriends Patience but does she really know her? The same day Edith escapes the home, a supervisor is killed and she's not the first to die there.
Patience's mom is looking for her. She will go to great lengths to find her, even if it means committing a crime.
Two of these women are suspects in the murder investigation. Three have big secrets. One is looking for answers. Another knows how it's all connected.
I gave this ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️! I listened to this audiobook in one day!! I could not stop listening. I did not have it figured out until the end. In love Alice Feeney and this was probably my favorite one yet!
Thank you to @netgalley and @macmillan.audio for an advanced audio copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

After Reading Rock, Paper, Scissors I KNEW I had to get my hands on an advanced copy of Alice Feeney’s latest novel out on 8/29! Unsurprisingly to myself, I devoured it within two days of downloading. After a “WTF” first chapter, Alice Feeney drops tiny little Easter eggs in every single chapter that keep you guessing. Just when you think you have it figured out - TWIST! She keeps me on my toes, and will not stop getting my hands on everything she writes.

This is the second book I’ve read by Alice Feeney and even though there were a few niggling issues, I enjoyed this book!
I literally can’t say anything about the story without giving something away, other than to say it’s a complex plot with a whole bunch of strands that are eventually braided together. I figured out one of the main twists fairly early on, but there are so many in rapid succession that it didn’t bother me. The characters were flawed and interesting, yet still fairly likable (generally). If you enjoy family mysteries, I’d recommend you give this a try!
I received an audiobook copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for a fair review.

I thoroughly enjoyed Good Bad Girl by Alice Feeney. It was more cohesive than her previous release Daisy Darker, in my opinion. Here is the synopsis from the publisher: Twenty years after a baby is stolen from a stroller, a woman is murdered in a care home. The two crimes are somehow linked, and a good bad girl may be the key to discovering the truth. Edith may have been tricked into a nursing home, but at eighty-years-young, she’s planning her escape. Patience works there, cleaning messes and bonding with Edith, a kindred spirit. But Patience is lying to Edith about almost everything. Edith’s own daughter, Clio, won’t speak to her. And someone new is about to knock on Clio’s door…and their intentions aren’t good. With every reason to distrust each other, the women must solve a mystery with three suspects, two murders, and one victim. If they do, they might just find out what happened to the baby who disappeared, the mother who lost her, and the connections that bind them.
The statement "sometimes bad things happen to good people, so good people have to do bad things" is repeated a few times in the story. Although the bad things are bad, the story is not overtly dark or disturbing. It is a fantastic examination of mother/daughter relationships, motherhood in general and family dysfunction. The characters were well-developed and the author made each one wonderfully realistic, unique and interesting. The plot kept me guessing and wanting more. I thought I had it all figured out at the end, but happily did not. Feeney truly did not disappoint with this story.
As this was an ARC audio book, I like to give feedback on the narrators. Both were excellent.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this advance copy for my honest review. I honestly loved Good Bad Girl!

Thanks to Macmillan Audio for the free book.
I'll start with this is a bit different from the other Feeney books I've read - it's less thriller and more domestic suspense. But this did not detract from my enjoyment of the book. I liked how Feeney took motherhood to the dark and drama filled side of life in this book. You start out with a shocker of a beginning and slowly the story unravels through different times and POVs to show how these characters are connected, with some suspenseful moments thrown in. I wasn't shocked by much here, but I was left satisfied because the story had deeply imagined characters that were easy to root for and be disgusted by. It's a slow burn that reveals just enough to keep the reader engaged throughout.
Loved the narration here. There were two narrators, which worked so well with the age difference of some of the characters. They both performed their parts beautifully.

3.75⭐️
Such a fun, drama-filled read with twists on twists. In the beginning, there were a few dragging moments. However, the urge to skip pages quickly disappeared around the 30% mark. Definitely makes one question the relationships between people. Every now and then, the POVs became difficult to manage. Started off with a bang and ended with a shocker.
Truly enjoyed the audiobook version and would recommend. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the gifted ARC (audiobook)…as all opinions are my own.

Good Bad Girl is told in a nonlinear timeline. The story starts 20 years in the past where there is a kidnapping. We then transport to present day 20 years later where there is a murder in an elder home. There are four main characters: Patience, Edith, Cilo, and Frankie, as well as one cross Perry Maison detective, working to string all the dots together.
I think the characters were well developed and the narration was great. The story had a very strong start and was quite the page turner. It did get a bit muffled towards the later middle. There were some plot lines that felt a bit cut. For instance, the scene with Edith speaking with the detective one minute then by the next chapter we find her somewhere else which leads the reader to wonder how she got from point A to point Z when there was nothing signaling that she would end up there. It felt like there was a big chunk missing between that time. I feel as a reader we need to feel and see a character reach that point. I really loved Edith's character, she's truly a pleasure! I also think there should have been a conversation between Frankie and Cilo. Again, we the reader should have definitely heard from Frankie's Pov instead of an after wrap in Patience's voice.
Overall, it is a nice and I would recommend it, and look forward to reading more by this author.

Alice Feeney did it again with Good Bad Girl. This book is a slow burn domestic suspense novel and one of my favorites of hers from this genre. I loved how there were so many loose threads (aka characters) at the beginning of the book and through of series of twisty surprises they were all wrapped up together in the end.
Also really like the theme behind the book that all bad girls are not just bad and that all good girls are not just good.
4/5 stars
Thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the audioARC of this book.

Alice Feeney is hit (His & Hers) or miss (Daisy Darker) for me, and Good Bad Girl was a hit. I don't like to discuss plot very much in my thriller reviews, so here's the bare minimum: a baby is stolen from her stroller at the grocery store, and twenty years later, a woman is murdered in an upscale nursing home. How on earth are these two things connected, you ask? Well, you'll have to read to find out.
There are multiple POVs that may be a touch confusing at first, but you'll soon be able to figure out who is who and recall their stories, don't worry. I will say that a handful of the twists in this book surprised me, and a few were easier to suss out. I really enjoyed the whole thing though, and I think even the characters are likable, which is unusual for me in an Alice Feeney book. All of the women in this story have secrets, and it remains to be seen whether they're good bad girls or just bad good girls.
Thank you to Alice Feeney, Flatiron Books, Macmillan Audio, and NetGalley for my advance audio copy.

I love Alice Feeney’s stories - the twists and turns, and the fact that I am constantly left wondering WHY I didn’t figure out the twist when sometimes it makes so much sense.
Good Bad Girl is about figuring out what happened to a baby 20 years ago, who is the actual murdered, and can we truly trust any of these characters??
Narrated by Katherine Press and Stephanie Racine - both who did an absolutely beautiful job. However, they both sounded so similar that it was tough to also know whose POV it was.
I would have loved to have more narrators to help keep it straight but it was still very enjoyable. I think I liked this one almost as much as Daisy Darker (which is by far my favorite Alice Feeney book)
Huge thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the ALC in exchange for my honest review.

Another hit by Alice Feeney! It kept you wondering until the end as usual. Spent the whole book trying to figure out how the characters connected. The narrator for audiobook did a wonderful job. Alice has definitely become one of my favorite authors!

I wasn’t sure about this story when I started. I definitely had to take notes on who was who and what is what as the plot is very involved. – Next thing I knew I was totally into the story and couldn’t stop.
The narrators were both GREAT in their performances of the characters!
.Alice Feeney does not disappoint.
This is my fifth Alice Feeney Story!. My first novel "Sometimes I Lie|" was great and I was hooked . Read "Daisy Darker" as well as"His & Hers" both earned 5 stars from stingy star me!
I call myself a fan!
Want to thank NetGalley and Macmillan Audio and Flatiron Books for this Great early Audiobook.
Publishing Release Date scheduled for August 29, 2023.

This book is very different from anything else I've read from Alice Feeney and I am not upset about it. This is a very unique and clever domestic suspense/thriller novel and I simply could not put it down. I want to point out that the narrators did a fantastic job and made this book even more enjoyable for me.
I've seen a lot of people saying that they were somewhat confused since this involved multiple POVs, and I agree, but the confusion was pretty brief for me and I was able to fully get back into it like nothing.
In this book, you have the multiple POVs of
- an elderly woman who resents her daughter for putting her in a nursing home
- the daughter of the elderly woman
- a woman searching for her 18 year old
- the 18 year old runaway herself
They don't call Alice Feeney "The Queen of Twists" for no reason. This is by no means her darkest novel but it was still fun, thoughtful, and full of surprises per usual. This book also did a great job hitting on the topic of motherhood (good/bad mother) and the struggles of postpartum depression.
I don't know what it is about Alice Feeney but she always delivers with her storytelling. I loved the overall slow burn and the sense of not knowing if any of the characters were truly reliable or "good". I did feel like I was left with some questions but I genuinely loved this book overall.
Thank you so much Netgalley, the publisher, Macmillan audio, and the author for this ALC.

Thanks, NetGalley, for an advanced copy of this audiobook in exchange for a review.
Alice Feeney is a hit or miss author for me. Daisy Darker was fantastic, so I was eager to get my hands (or ears, I suppose) on her latest title “Good Bad Girl.” While it wasn’t a miss, necessarily, it just didn’t enthrall me like the author’s previous work(s).
It’s hard to really put my finger on what stopped me from loving it. I found the story entertaining enough, but the twists weren’t of the shock and awe variety.
Overall, a solid 3 ⭐️, though not Alice’s best, in my opinion.

Good Bad Girl is a perfectly layered domestic thriller that will make you want to read more after each unexpected twist. Chapter by chapter, things start to come together, and relationships begin to become apparent. This book kept me on my toes the entire time as questions were answered about the murder in the present day and the missing baby twenty years earlier. Alice Feeney's writing was fantastic and much different than her other books. My minor complaint is that the book was initially very complex and confusing with the many characters introduced. It took me a while to understand that I did not need to figure out everything immediately. If you ignore trying to figure out how everyone is related, you will enjoy this book much better. This book is a great domestic thriller that touches on postpartum depression and what it means to be a “good” mother.
Also, the audiobook was excellent. Both Katherine Press and Stephanie Racine greatly enhanced my enjoyment of the book.
Thank you to both NetGallery and to Macmillan Audio for giving me a copy of the book.

I thought this one sounded right up my alley and seen tons of great reviews for it so I was excited to get to it early. I did enjoy this one although it did take me a bit to get into the story. I decided to go back and forth between the physical and audiobook (Narrated by Katherine Press and Stephanie Racine) that worked out really well. The narration was excellent. There were lots of pov's in this book which could get confusing at times, especially at the beginning, so it was nice to have the physical book so I could flip back and figure out who was who.
At the beginning you read about the abduction of a baby from a stroller. The mother loves her daughter but is also going through a hard time with PPD. Then 20 yrs later you read about Edith who is in a nursing home. She was tricked into the home by her daughter. and is planning her escape with Patience, one of the aides at the home. Then another woman who works at the care home is found murdered. Edith's daughter Clio doesn't bother with Edith and you want to learn what happened in this relationship. Can these crimes and people be connected?! I don't want to go into more because I feel going in as blind as possible would be good with this one.
I had fun trying to figure out the pieces of the puzzle in this book, and I did enjoy how it ended. All of the characters are unreliable. You don't know who has an ulterior motive or who to trust. Well except for Edith. She's great! This was a good mystery.
Out August 29.
Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for the gifted copy and audiobook. All opinions are my own. My review will be posted on Instagram, Bookbub, Goodreads, and Amazon once it publishes.

Alice Feeney is my favorite author but I go into these books unbiased because not every book is a winner from an author. For example His and Hers. I didn't like that one almost at all. But this one was really good. From beginning to end it was a stressful. Which is something I like in a thriller. A real page turner.
