I was greatly looking forward to this book as I absolutely love everything Alice Feeney has written, but unfortunately it fell flat for me.
It was more of a family suspense drama rather than a thriller which I found disappointing. I think I might have enjoyed this more as I found the story likeable, if I hadn't gone into it expecting a twisty, heart thumping, thriller like Feeney normally writes.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is a masterfully crafted atmospheric family suspense drama. I know that when I pick up a book by Alice Feeney that I will be immersed in a world that will sweep me away. This one was perfect to listen to on audio. Highly recommend.

I love how easily I get swept up into Feeney's writing. She grabs you from the beginning and doesn't let go until the twist you didn't see coming at the end. She's brilliant and never lets me down. I can't say that this tops the list of her books for me, but it's still a very entertaining and quick read. Books like this make you think about the "bad" things people do sometimes even though they are genuinely good people, Life isn't black and white, and Feeney portrays that beautifully in her novels. I'll always recommend her books.

“The world is full of people who are good at being bad, and people who are bad at being good.”
I loved Daisy Darker and Rock Paper Scissors by Alice Feeney but unfortunately this one was just a like for me. I feel like I may have enjoyed it more as a physical book instead of audio because with the multiple POVs and timelines, it was a little confusing at times. But it had some solid twists and I liked how it all came together at the end.

I'm an Alice Feeney fan so I loved listening to this audiobook. The narrator created suspenseful elements perfectly. Sometimes, I prefer to listen to thrillers for that extra chill factor and this audiobook had it. If you have a thriller/mystery fan, this is a great book to listen to.

I have thoughts on Good Bad Girl and I'm not sure if there are good thoughts. Good Bad Thoughts, maybe...
While this wasn't a psychological thriller, it was certainly a family thriller. There were many characters and a lot of twists and turns. Most of the thme was centered around Mother's Day and some tough events that happened on that day in years past.
The story was told in multiple POVs and out of order. At some points, it became convoluted and confusing. The reader had to keep careful track of who was narrating and at what point in the story they were talking about. I did not like that. I feel like this way of telling a story was to add confusion so that the reader wouldn't catch on to the a-ha moment to early. What it did was cause me to become disinterested and lose the desire to keep track.
There were more things about it that I wasn't a fan of, rather than things I did enjoy. Such as names used: Liberty and Patience. Also there were a couple of references about not believing in coincidences, when really this book seemed to be filled with a whole lot of them.
However, once the ending came close and things started to fall into place, it became much more enjoyable to finish. I am glad I hung on when I lost focus on the story, so that I really only missed details instead of missing the ending.

Excellent! I love this author's books.
Thanks so much for the chance to listen.
Highly recommended!

Alice feeney has done it again with this masterly crafted family suspense drama. Starting off as a slow burn until about mid way through that keeps you hooked and engaged throughout the book. A messy complicated read that I’ll be talking about for time

I loved this book! It was so eerie and kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. Feeney is an auto buy author for me and I’m so glad I did! Another solid thriller from this author.
Atmospheric and thrilling, I highly recommend!!!

I loved this book so much! It kept me on my toes the whole time. I am so thankful I had the audio version of it!

Good Bad Girl was one of my most anticipated novels of 2023, but sadly I think I have found my least favourite Feeney novel to date.
Having absolutely loved His & Hers and Rock Paper Scissors, I was expecting plenty of thrills and shocking twists. Good Bad Girl was entirely different, and not really a thriller at all in my opinion. I appreciated that Alice Feeney branched off and explored the complexities and challenges of motherhood, and this is a topic that I often identify with, but this book just couldn’t hold my attention. To start, the story is told from several different POVs. While that is usually something I enjoy, each character sounded exactly the same to me. I honestly had a hard time differentiating between them. Young, old, they all had such a similar voice and inner monologue. This, in combination with a confusing and slow moving plot, made it difficult for me to follow. I actually ended up keeping little notes on who was who and how they were connected just so I could keep it all straight. Judging from some other reviews, I’m thinking I would have had better luck sticking mainly to the physical copy and not the audio.
I think Good Bad Girl was meant to be more emotional than her usual thrillers, but I became so disinterested and distracted that it didn’t make the impact it was supposed to.
While this one wasn’t what I was hoping for, and not Feeney’s typical writing style, I do think that those who liked Daisy Darker will enjoy this one as well. I also appear to be very much an outlier on this one, so please give it a try for yourself. I won’t be letting this deter me, and hopefully Feeney’s next book will be more my taste.
Thank you so much to Macmillan Audio for my complementary audio copy in exchange for an honest review.

Despite being a big Alice Feeney fan, I could not get into or enjoy this book. The story is told from multiple POV and goes over so many characters so fast that it is hard to keep track of what is going on and who is who. The farther I got the more confused, I thought eventually a main plot would be revealed but I never got to one. Could not finish.

I listened to this on audiobook so I had a hard time keeping track of the characters and the scenarios involved with each. But as I got further into the book, I was intrigued to find out what happens to each of the women: one working in a care home, one an escapee from a care home, one a therapist, and one who works in a prison library.
I like Alice Feeney's darker thrillers, and might enjoy reading this rather than listening, so I'm bumping up 3.5 stars to 4!
Thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for an advance audio book.

It is no secret I have a love-hate relationship with thrillers. I want to love them, but I typically hate them. However, I have discovered that Alice Feeney works for me. I don't even know if I would call Good Bad Girl a thriller. It is more of a subtly suspenseful murder mystery about the duality of good and bad told through the fragile relationship between mothers and daughters.
The story takes place over two timelines, with several character POVs, and requires patience, but once it all comes together, it works. I found the story compelling. I enjoyed the characters. While some of the twists were predictable, a few things shocked me, but in a good way. I love being surprised by mystery books.
I listened to this on audio, and I enjoyed the narration.

Not my fave by Alice Feeney (I prefer the dark and twisty) but this one did pleasantly surprise me! I really liked the audio narrator but, because there were multiple perspectives, I do wish there was a full cast.

I have read several books by Alice Feeney and was my least favorite. I found the varying points of view and timelines confusing and had difficulty keeping the characters straight. This is not a bad book, at times it failed to engage me.

Good Bad Girl by Alice Feeney is a well paced, mysterious story that weaves together the story of women connected through a care home. Overall, this one missed the mark for me compared to Feeney’s other work but the audio narration was very well done and I enjoyed the experience of listening to the performance.
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC - Good Bad Girl is out now!

A baby is stolen and a mystery goes unsolved and then worlds collide and likely the reader still won't know all the moving parts until the very end. I love Alice Feeney and this was a very satisfying, very twisty book with interesting characters and a surprisingly happy ending.
I would say I didn't love it as much as DAISY DARKER, which floored me (!) but I love the way she lays out a narrative, and the characters she creates who are so often complex, some despicable, and all capable of adeptly lying whenever necessary.
I would recommend this book! Great narration.

Thank you NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for accepting my request to audibly read and review Good Bad Girl.
Narrated by Katherine Press; Stephanie Racine
The story started out strong. I was entertained throughout 75% of the book. When I think mystery/thriller, this is what I expect.
My problems/issues: The ending was too much. It felt like the author set a timer and went about tying up loose ends. Also, the convoluted circle of life was too much and terribly disappointing. This put a new twist on the thought processing of seven degrees of separation.
I liked the narrators, although I had to look at who was speaking several times. I couldn't always follow along.
The characters are bad, yet likable; kudos to Feeney.
A solid three stars being an easy cold winter night read.
