I would like to thank Netgalley and Bloom Books for this ARC in exchange for my honest review. Salt Kiss is the first book in the Lyonesse series by Sierra Simone. This book is preceded by a prequel, Salt in the Wound, which I highly recommend reading first. Salt Kiss is described as “A kinky MMF retelling of the Tristan and Isolde legend with age gaps, bodyguards, and antiheroes.” Tristan Thomas, a decorated war hero, was recently separated from the Army, lost in the grief and trauma of w, and in need a direction in his life. He accepted a position as bodyguard for Mark Trevena, the brother of his new stepmother, former CIA operative and owner of a Kink Club called Lyonesse. Mark, a devious Dominant, was dark and compelling. After weeks of falling under Mark’s spell, Tristan was devastated when Mark tasked him with collecting his bride to be, Isolde Laurence, from Ireland. Isolde turned out to be nothing like Tristan expected, a young woman who had been pushed into an arranged marriage by her family. He found himself in love with both the husband and the wife. He was thrust into the lives of Mark and Isolde for a reason, which is unclear. This book was amazing, a spin-off of the New Camelot series by this author and a favorite of mine. Tristan is honorable and pure, though burdened by his own demons. Mark is his opposite in almost every way, a true anti-hero. He has secrets and demons of his own. Isolde, like Mark, had been trained to operate in the shadows. It isn’t clear what she has done, but whatever it was happened in service to the Catholic Church. She is a complex character that I hope to understand better in the next book. Tristan is the one who I feel for, as he seems to be an unwitting pawn in the greater game. I cannot say any more without giving away the entire book, but if you like dark romance, then you will love this series. Sierra Simone’s writing is superb and very spicy. This story evoked so many emotions from me, and I was riveted from the first page. Readers should definitely start with the prequel. I initially started Salt Kiss without reading it, but found that it gave me some much needed insight for this book. I am desperate to begin Honey Cut as soon as possible, which is always an indication that a book is good. I hope you will check it out.

I forgot to write a review but this one was good! I have read a few other books by Sierra Simone and this one did not disappoint. I appreciated the opportunity to read an advanced readers copy and can’t wait to continue this series!

I wasn’t entirely such what I would be getting into while reading this book, however it ended up being pretty much exactly what the blurb stated, which was fine, but I expected a bit more?

I was sort of disappointed in the development of the relationships. It makes sense that the second book will dive into these deeper, but I definitely wanted a bit more stability between the dynamics - especially Isolde. Possibly having different POVs could have helped with this. Mark was just sort of mean and I still don’t believe in the dynamics of Mark/Tristan and Tristan/Isolde.

That being said, Simone is an expert at delivering spice and Salt Kiss was no exception. Again, not 100% my kind of spice, but it’s crafted in a way that you just can’t look away.

Overall, I totally see the appeal of this book, it just wasn’t ultimately for me. It will work for a lot people and I can definitely see myself recommending this to other readers.

I don't remember when I discovered Sierra Simone but I'm so glad I did. I love a fun taboo writer. This is a spin-off, and I am patiently awaiting book 2 of this new series!

I read Salt in the Wound before this and I was so intrigued to see where the story would go. I adore the first half of this and found myself always wanting to read on. But once I passed the half way mark some of the fizz just seemed to go for me. It was a good read and I adore Sierra Simones writing. I will still be on the look out for the next book in the series.

If you want spice…this is your book. Holy freaking crap. That was so hot and absolutely addictive I could not put it down! I cannot wait for book 2! I loved Tristan, Isolde and Mark. Their dynamic was intoxicating and intense. The ending thought! ARE YOU KIDDING?! Honey Cut needs to be in my hands ASAP

Whew! This book was all kinds of addictive and spicy. I read the novella that takes place prior to Salt Kiss before I dove into this one, so I had an idea of what I was getting into. I love that it's a take on Tristan and Isolde.

I think it was really smart of Sierra to give us so much time with Mark and Tristan for the majority of this book. Their dynamic is super interesting and watching how Tristan transformed when he was sent to travel with Isolde was captivating. His sort-of dual personality was fun to read about. The ending had me in a chokehold and I can't wait to get my hands on the next one in this series.

The Mark, Tristan, Isolde dynamic is going to addictive reading. I just know it.

Yet again, give me more! I could NOT put this down. I am HOOKED. I cannot wait for what comes next. These 3 are gonna be messy and I'm gonna grab my popcorn. There's nothing wrong with this book. It’s thrilling. The distrust that Sierra has woven through the story.. well, it made me question absolutely everything that was occurring throughout the plot and it is superb!I loved seeing Tristan with Mark, I loved seeing Tristan with Isolde. We have Mark, a former CIA agent, Tristan the virgin bodyguard, and Isolde the badass woman who wanted to become a nun but was put into an arranged betrothal with Mark. We get BDSM, play with submission and pain, and everything is just delicious. This MMF Tristan and Isolde retelling is already off to a fantastic start and this series is my fav from Sierra Simone yet!

So, I just finished indulging in "Salt Kiss" by the incredible Sierra Simone, and let me say, it's like a decadent treat for the soul!

Okay, first off, let's talk about the writing. Simone has this way of weaving words together: pure magic. The prose is so lyrical and evocative that it practically dances off the page and wraps you up in its embrace.

Now, onto the romance. 🔥 Can we take a moment to appreciate the steam factor in this book? It's off the charts! The chemistry between the characters is so palpable that you can practically feel the heat radiating off the page. And let me tell you, the tension? It's so deliciously intense you'll be on the edge of your seat begging for more.

But what sets "Salt Kiss" apart is its depth. Beyond the swoon-worthy romance, this rich tapestry of emotion and complexity keeps you hooked from beginning to end. It's a story about love in all its messy, beautiful glory and absolutely captivating.

Overall, "Salt Kiss" is a mesmerizing read that'll leave you breathless and craving more. If you're a fan of steamy romance with a side of soul-stirring depth, do yourself a favour and dive into this book ASAP. Trust me, you won't regret it! 💖🌊

If I could give this book 100/5 stars I would. This is a top read for me this month, maybe even this year.

If you've ever read, seen, or heard of the story of Tristan and Isolde, it may spoil a portion of the book for you HOWEVER, Sierra made this her own with the twist involving Tristan and Mark.

Tristan has just left the army and he doesn't know what to do with himself. He's not the same man he once was, but war will do that to you, right?
Everyone claims he's the hero, but hero's don't exist... or do they?

Mark is the head of the Lyonesse club (kink club btw) and he's got dark dark secrets, but being Tristan's new uncle-in-law, he offers him a job working as his personal body guard and Tristan's world goes topsy turvy.

Mark's one request of Tristan is to go pick up Isolde from Ireland and bring her back to him... but can he?

Just ugh, Sierra nailed it. NAILED IT.

What to expect:
- Kink
- Kink club
- MM
- MF
- Secrets
- Memories of war
- Broken Trust
- CLIFFHANGER - god damnit, lol!

3.5/5 stars - i really enjoyed this book up until meeting isolde. i’m not well versed in the story even though i’ve seen the movie, but something about the pacing was so odd. the beginning with mark and tristan was great and well executed and then it all felt rushed, crammed in towards the end. i definitely want to see where the rest of the story goes!

Sierra Simone could write the phonebook and I would read 👏it 👏 up👏 This book was arguably better but just saying, I’m a fan and if it’s biased, I don’t care. I don’t think I’ve ever read a Tristan x Isolde story but this makes me want to know the original so I can understand.

Coming back to New Camelot vibes was stressful because the first series gave me heart palpitations 😂. I’m sure by the time we’re done with this one, it will be way worse but in the best ways. Hit me with the angst and the spice; I like the way it hurts 🙇‍♀️.

Poor Tristan is caught between a rock and hard place(and both are smoking hot). I just want to hug my sweet cinnamon roll and save him from those edgy people we are both obsessed with. Because Mark and Isolde are complicated to know and more so to love. She’s sneaky and he’s downright diabolical. I think as the series goes on and we see more from their sides, they will become more endearing. Right now it’s team Tristan and team Spicy things for me.

The thing I love most about Sierra books is the prose is almost poetic. Her descriptions and narration immerse you 🤩 I also trust her with kink, especially the sub/dom dynamic (Hello Ash 🥵). This book has those elements.

This book will have you questioning everything. Is it possible to be scared of something and still obsessed with it 🤔 because that is me with Mark. Only weird thing for me was we don’t see the 3 of them together in this book - it’s Tristan & Mark for about 2/3 and Tristan & Isolde for the last 1/3. I don’t know where the next book is going to go but I am in for the long haul. That cliffhanger 🫣

This is a different book than I'd been reading. Quite a bit racy but I liked it and it had me reading to the end and wanting more!

This was a super spicy read. I’ve never read a male, male, female romance so it took a bit to get used to. Interesting plot but I’m not sure I loved it.

Holy s* ... that was a lot

I don't want to give this less than a 4⭐ on here as even though I might not personally have enjoyed it the way it's supposed to, I can recognize Sierra Simone's kill in writing what she writes (and I really enjoy her prose as well). It just wasn't a fit for me.

I do wish I'd seen more of Isolde though. It went a little bit stale and slow in the middle when repeated ya know scenes, one after another, and I feel it would've fit well to have her introduced maybe a bit earlier.

If you enjoyed her Camelot trilogy, you'd definitely enjoy this one too!

3.7⭐
