Banner and Jared are both sports agents. They had a really bad fall-out and she wouldn't give him a second chance.
Banner and Jared are very flawed people. Their love lives are complicated. It's an emotional book with lots of feelings. An excellent love story.
Thanks to the publisher for the arc.
I’m always left with no words after finishing a Kennedy Ryan book. But to say the least, I loved this book. I loved Banner so much, she was fantastic and such a strong amazing heroine. Jared was perfect for her and I loved their friends to lovers to enemies to lovers relationship.
This second chance romance was complicated and complex but I really appreciated the emotions and heart put into their journey. The heroine of this story has PCOS. I also loved the little glimpses of August and Iris from Long Shot in this. Kennedy is just a masterclass writer and I’m always in awe of her storytelling.
Kennedy Ryan is a master at creating emotional, but steamy, romance reads. Her characters are multi-dimmensional, and she writes them in a way that the reader feels like they really *know* them. Although the second book of the Hoops series, this book could be read as a standalone; however, I LOVED Long Shot (Book #1), so don't skip out on it.
This story is about Banner & Jared, two sports agents working in similar circles. They have actually known each other since college; however, a miscommunication soured their friendship. In present day, Banner is in a relationship with her client, Zo, and Jared is determined not only to mend their friendship, but also win Banner back.
This book gets messy--love triangles always are! Banner made for a great protagonist. As a woman who struggles with her weight, her character embarks on a journey of body acceptance, and we need more curvy female leads who learn to celebrate their bodies. Still, love triangles/infidelity isn't always my favorite trope, but if anyone is going to win me over with it, it is Kennedy. I will also say that this has been her steamiest book I've read so far... I am still undecided as to how I feel about that level of detail... Onto book 3!
Kennedy Ryan‘s books will always be top tier for me!
Block shot was a sizzleing and powerful romance set in the cut throat sports world. I loved seeing the fmc grow and the mc being supportive throughout her career. He was just simply such a great guy!
I love love love Kennedy‘s books and cannot wait for the next one!!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is book 2 in the hoops series and it follows Jared (the stepbrother of MMC from the first book). This can be read as a standalone. Kennedy Ryan writes authentic characters with authentic plots. Is the love story messy? Yes. Is there a love triangle that also results in cheating? Also yes. I know that may not sit well with everyone, but it was a very realistic portrayal of flawed people. I flew through this book! Still brought heavier topics into the story as well just like with book 1. Onto book 3 now!
