I love a book set in Scotland so I was 100% gonna read this but honestly, it felt completely flat. Did not understand why the main characters liked each other at all and the main girl was pretty annoying.

I received a copy of this novel from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Romance novels set in Scotland are my favorites, the setting alone is enough to make me pick up the book. This was thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish and the main characters had great chemistry.!

What a Scottish adventure!

I’ve always wanted to visit Scotland. So it’s always a fun time for me to visit in books. And someday I’ll be able to say I visited those places too!!

This book was silly and funny. But also sweet and emotional. Addie and Logan were well written and clearly fleshed out. I thought they were both extremely relatable and lovable.
They both have resentment issues when it comes to their families, and they are both experiencing loneliness. And I ached for them both.

I enjoyed the underlying feelings of grief and how it was expressed in this story. It made the story more detailed and complex. And I honestly love a story that pulls at my heartstrings. So this one succeeded!

There was plenty of sizzling romance and spice. The tension was thick at times between these two and I loved their banter. In the beginning, we see the initial attraction and meeting. And then we get the twist of a “betrayal” and then they become workplace nemesis’s. Which I loved! I like when they have to work for the slow deconstruction of their walls and the opening of their hearts. It’s honestly really fun for me. I’m not sure what that says about me though 😅

“Kilt Trip” follows Addie Macrae, an American travel consultant, and Logan Sutherland, one of the Scottish co-owners of a family-owned tour company that’s struggling to make ends meet. Logan is absolutely against Addie coming and restructuring his hidden gems tours, so they set off on a truce: they’ll experience both sides of Scotland—the touristy and then less traveled—and decide from there which tours stay and which don’t.

Alexandra Kiley did such an amazing job with this book. It truly made me feel like the travel influencer I’ve never wanted to be, and I was there for it. The sexual tension between these enemies to lovers was irresistible, I couldn’t get enough of them.

I would highly recommend this read if you’re looking for a romance book that’ll transport you into the Highlands and are a fan of the enemies to lovers books—because that’s what they are.

Kilt Trip by Alexandra Kiley. Pub Date: March 5, 2024. Rating: 3 stars. In this cute rom-com set in Scotland, the main character flies to the Highlands to help a struggling family business with their tours. As a travel consultant, she brings a wealth of knowledge but once there she is railroaded by the Logan. He is bound and determined to not let her tell him how to run his tours, but as the story unfolds he realizes she is a human who is just trying to help and grapple with her own past. I really enjoyed the scenery in this novel, but I did not love the storyline. It's a cute novel if you are looking for a mindless romantic read set in a land that is not widely written about. Thanks to #netgalley and #harlequintradepublishing for this e-arc in exchange for my honest review.

Kilt Trip by Alexandra Kiley is a lighthearted, cozy mystery with a quirky premise and a fun setting, but ultimately, it falls short of delivering the gripping, suspenseful experience I had hoped for. While it’s an enjoyable read that has its moments, there are some aspects that could have been improved to make it a stronger story.

The book follows McKenna, an American woman who finds herself in Scotland, and gets involved in a local mystery when a beloved member of the community turns up dead. Along the way, she uncovers a web of secrets and begins to suspect that not everything in this picturesque town is as it seems. The setting itself is one of the book’s highlights—Kiley does a great job of bringing Scotland’s charm to life, from the rolling hills to the local traditions and, of course, the men in kilts. It’s the perfect backdrop for a cozy mystery.

While McKenna is an interesting protagonist, I struggled to fully connect with her. She’s likable, but her character felt a little flat, and I didn’t find myself particularly invested in her journey. The mystery itself also lacked a certain level of suspense. The pacing was relatively slow, with the majority of the story spent building up the context rather than moving the plot forward. The lack of tension made it difficult to get truly excited about the twists and turns of the mystery. When the solution finally came together, it felt a bit predictable, and I wasn’t as intrigued by the resolution as I had hoped to be.

The supporting cast of characters, from the quirky locals to the potential love interests, added some charm to the story, but none of them were particularly fleshed out. I would have loved to see more character development and a deeper exploration of their motivations. That said, there is a sense of community and camaraderie in the way McKenna interacts with the people around her, which adds a heartwarming touch to the narrative.

The romance element, while present, felt secondary to the mystery plot, and I didn’t feel much chemistry between McKenna and the love interest. The romance could have been more engaging if it had been developed a bit more, but instead, it felt like an afterthought that didn’t fully add to the story.

Overall, Kilt Trip is a charming, easy read with a unique setting and an enjoyable atmosphere, but it’s not the most compelling mystery. Fans of cozy mysteries might still find it a fun and relaxing read, but it doesn’t quite pack the punch I was hoping for. With a bit more intrigue and character depth, it could have been a standout, but as it is, it’s a perfectly fine, but forgettable, addition to the genre.

Thank you to NetGalley for the eARC! This was a fun, steamy hate-to-love romance with a really fun Scottish setting. I loved the banter and growing relationship between the leads. Highly recommend!

I absolutely loved this book. It had a good pacing, it was really cute, and the chemistry and sweet romance parts were truly beautiful.
Both characters have a pov and both go through such human and relatable journeys, it was truly beautiful to read.
I wish it had a bit more groveling from her dad as I did not like how that was resolved too quickly and she had to be the one to do it, it pissed me off.
My absolute favorite part was Scotland itself. She came alive through the book, and it was so touching for my obsession with Scotland and made me feel so much.

Kilt Trip is a love letter to the beauty of Scotland and the magic of its people. If you've been fortunate enough to visit Scotland, this book will bring back all of your best memories of your trip. Addie and Logan are complex main characters who seek passion and connection to others and the world around them. The conflict felt dragged out and repetitive towards the end, but I still thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I can't wait for Jack's story to be back with the Sutherland family.

Cutesy story with rivals to lvoers, slow slow slow burn, travel to a beautiful place (with a beautiful man???), and lots of angst! The build up was worth it - it made the story full of conflict which allowed for me to be sucked in from the start. I also really liked that he fell first, because that trope is top tier. And I liked that it included a beautiful man. Did I mention that already? Oops. But seriously, it also touched on things such as loss and grief, but Alexandra Kiley found a way to turn it into a swoon-worthy love story set in a place that many long to travel to. Thanks for the opportunity to read!

This book was such a fun romp of a read. I loved the spiciness level of it. The descriptions of the beautiful landscapes around them as well as the sweet and realistic relationship between the characters made this very enjoyable. I mean who doesn't love a man in a Kilt.

This felt very predictable to me and I was not impressed with it. I had high hopes because I generally love all highland romances.

I loved this one! This is kinda an enemies to lover story about two very different people. Addie is a workaholic American, who is constantly on the move for her travel consultant job. Logan is a true man of the Scottish Highlands, who loves to share the beauty of his home with tourist who come to his family's tour company.
The two compete, bicker and banter their way through the story while falling in love. They have great chemistry and legitimate care for each other. I loved learning about Scotland and all the traditions explained in the story. I loved the ways Kiley explored grief and family. The way that people need their family's and the different things in life we grieve.
The story grabbed me from the beginning and never let go. I laughed and cried and it was one of my absolute favorite romances of the year.
Thank you to Netgalley for my ARC copy.

Ready to go on my own trip to Scotland after this story. The setting was its own character, and set the backdrop for a vacation read.

This book has put Scotland on the map for me. Never has a book made me want to visit a country so bad. While the story was great I felt like it was just another romance and didn't blow me out of the water.
