"Kilt Trip" garners a resounding five stars for its raw and affecting portrayal of journeying through both the heart and the hauntingly beautiful Scotland. It’s not merely about the number of places seen, but rather how they resonate within the soul, a sentiment that rings true throughout the book.

The prose invites us into a world where the question, "does your heart feel like mine?" isn’t just asked but is felt in the spaces between words. The author skillfully started us off with minimal expectations, only to sweep us into a maelstrom of team dynamics, betrayal, and a past that bleeds into every page, contributing to an intensely emotional story.

The tension between the characters was palpable, a thread of suspense that was "attention, pulling" in its intensity. It escalated to a crescendo that "snacked around 80% into the book," leaving us as breathless as the characters within.

The concluding chapters, where the storylines knit together, were likened to the selkie from the lore of the sea—always returning home. This tale, too, comes full circle in a fashion so beautifully crafted, it felt as though watching a movie unfold. The end was not just an ending but a moment of amazing revelation, both for the characters and the reader.

In summary, "Kilt Trip" is a beautifully cracked tapestry, each thread a storyline that wove together into an unforgettable picture—a testament to the power of a well-told tale.

I really enjoyed this book. Addie and Logan's story was perfection with a slow burn and some spice! My favorite part was the setting. I want to hop a plane to Scotland right now! Overall, a fun and good read.

Thanks NetGalley and Harlequin for the ARC.

A wee cute Scottish romp for rivals to lovers fans! I read this one a few months after vacationing in Scotland actually and it took me right back to the Highlands! I especially enjoy the let’s-save-the-business trope and this one delivers

This was an adorable and spicy debut that will definitely have me on the lookout for more of Kiley's works! Some of my favourite tropes, such as rivals to lovers, forced proximity, and found family, are set to the backdrop of Scotland and a fantastic cast of characters. I'm glad that Scottish MMCs are getting their turn with contemporary romcoms because honestly, all the real-people covers with guys in kilts were always super offputting for me, but this cover really drew me in!

This ARC review made me so darn happy! And omg, I know have an even longer bucket list of places to visit in Scotland! Those who know me, know I’ve been obsessed with Scotland ever since I found my ancestral tartan (Armstrong!) and years later (as well as Harry Potter and Outlander after-effects) that desire still burns bright! Throw it a to-die-for romance and it makes me want to read this book all over again!

I ate it up in three days and I just loved reading the character growth in both MCs. Super well written and characters didn’t feel flat at all. I don’t LOVE a third act breakup but. It . Made. Sense. Here!

It also was super fun all the real places the author included! I could do a quick google search for the place or landmark and just imagine the story! Added cinematic effect FOR SURE.

I did not feel this one AT ALL. I love Scotland and everything that comes along with it, but this book felt more like a travel guide instead of a romance novel WAY TOO OFTEN. This was very 'Inside Baseball' (re: Scotland) so often and I did not read this book to learn about the history of Scotland. And on top of that, Logan was a straight up jerk for far too long. He was a dick to Addie as soon as he found out who she was and I do not at all see why she was willing to put up with him. Why would her being a secret auditor on the tour be a big deal? She was literally doing her job and not hurting anyone. I also do not understand why she was so interested in keeping a job that was apparently so fragile that letting her boss know that their client was not interested in being helped and was being obstinate at every turn made her fear for losing her job. ALSO, why didn't Logan's family really tell him to chill out? You hire this person to help you and then you throw her to the wolves, basically. I really found myself skimming and was so annoyed that by the time Logan started turning his attitude around that I was rooting for Addie to tell him where he could shove it. There were a few moments I enjoyed, which I why I was willing to give this 2 stars, but this one really left a sour taste in my mouth.

What an amazing, wonderful debut from this author! The contemporary, closed-door rom-com with an enemies-to-lovers plot line and a clever tour guide twist is refreshingly different than the regular Scottish historical romances. Told from a dual point-of-view, we get to tag along with the road-trip shenanigans of and experience the banter between Logan, the main male character (so very patient) and Addie, the main female character, (trying to find herself). The use of imagery is outstanding with descriptions of Scottish scenery, retelling of its legends and rich history… you can tell the author had first hand experience with the setting. The secondary character development is spot on- I really hope Jack, Reid and Elyse get their own book(s)! A delightful, witty read
Right now novel!
I’m all for the contemporary, illustrative cover design depicting a Scotsman in his kilt!
Thank you to NetGalley and HTPbooks for my advance copy

An enemies to lovers romance set in Scotland with a kilt-wearing MMC?! Say less! I’m already in.

Kilt Trip by Alexandra Kiley was a cozy read that could be devoured in a single day. Alexandra Kiley did a great job of weaving tender moments, with witty banter, and undeniable chemistry.

The dynamic between spirited Addie and the charming Logan was fun to read. Their feelings developed quickly and I appreciated how open and vulnerable Jack was to be honest with Addie about what he wanted. Addie's journey to reconnect with her roots was complex, as she worked through the lingering sadness of the loss of a parent.

Kilt Trip is a great read that will leave readers longing for their own Scottish adventure and dreaming of finding love in the most unexpected places.

Thank you to NetGalley, Harlequin Trade Publishing and Alexandra Kiley for a review copy. These are my honest thoughts.

How freaking adorable!
Addie is a travel consultant who doesn't let anyone in.
Logan is a hot Scottish tour guide whose family has hired her to revive their business.
Sound interesting? Of course it does!
Firstly I loved the setting. I'm a sucker for anything set in Scotland and this didn't disappoint. Because the book is about a tour guide we get to go to many destinations around Scotland. I wish there was maybe a little bit more history thrown in there but it's a cute romcom so I can't fault it too much.
As for Addie and Logan, I loved them, mostly. About a third of the way through when they were "together" but on the verge of a break up Logan became kind of unbearably sappy? He was so emotional over everything it kind of grated on my nerves.
He did redeem himself in the end though fortunately.
Overall a cute fun read!

Listen... you had me at Kilt...

It's quite impossible for me to skip a book/cover that has anything Scottish going for it. I'll always be intrigued, and it rarely lets me down. Unfortunately, this is not the case for Kilt Trip. This is not the worst by any means; it just didn't cater to my specific taste.

The story follows a family owned tour company, set in the Highlands, that isn't doing too well financially. They hire Addie Macrae, a travel consultant, to help revamp their company image. But her job isn't going to be easy because Logan Sutherland is only set on his way, which is showing the true treasures of Scotland and not the way of an outsider.

If you're someone who loves architectural talk and curious about the "hidden gems of Scotland," this will definitely be well suited for your reading preferences.

Sadly, I just felt that there was too much to focus on, and not one aspect held my interest. It was tedious and felt like I was reading forever....

Our main characters were mehh. They had instant attraction, but then they "hate" each other. I felt no connection between them or their chemistry.

The pro's?
Getting to imagine a man in a kilt🤭

Having Scottish heritage, I’m usually drawn to romance books set there. That, the synopsis (I love me an enemies to lovers), and having a cute cover, made me really want to read it. I’m so glad I requested it. It also brought me back to a trip I took to Scotland back in 2007, so I got very nostalgic reading it.

This one had the things I love in a romance novel: banter, a swoony MMC, humor, heat, and shenanigans, all surrounded by the beauty of Scotland. I loved the found family aspect of his family kinda taking her in and was very excited to even see a hairy coo.

It’s mostly a romcom, but with Addie trying to visit the places her mom had been to, there are some emotional parts.

Overall, I really enjoyed this debut and look forward to the rest of the series. This was a fun one for me, having been there and maybe it helped my enjoyment of it, but I hope you enjoy it too.

Trip to Scotland, anybody?

Thank you to the author. I voluntarily read an early copy of this book.

Holy smokes everyone!!! This was the book that I needed to read to get me out of my reading slump! And it comes out today! It was everything that I needed; he falls first, slow burn, healing from trauma, lust, fighting, set in Scotland, rivals to lovers, workplace romance, found family, family drama, and everything in between.

So I’ve always wanted to visit Scotland, so when I read that this romance book was set in Scotland I had to read it and I’m so happy that I did! There is so much history that you learn about Scotland without it being too much, as Logan is a guide for his family’s tour company. Addie is a travel consultant assigned to help the family out in the tours of Scotland. There is chemistry from the start. The writing was so well done, it’s perfectly paced and the plot was excellently done. I loved how grief was handled in this book, and made the character so three-dimensional and real. I would check TW to see if this is a book for you! But I simply love it and I can’t wait to visit Scotland. If you’re looking for a cute romance set in Scotland, this is for you!

Are kilts hot now? This was a very fitting read for March. I loved the setting in Scotland ☘️ However, I found myself bored. The writing was done in a way that had me confused. Was I skimming or did I miss something? There was no doubt that Logan and Addie had chemistry, but I ended up getting frustrated with Addie. Maybe I would have been more understanding if I didn’t feel like there were plot holes that could have been filled with moments to heighten the emotional depth of the story while also explaining some side plots. To be honest, I don’t know shit about Scotland. Educate me so I can fully enjoy the story! The writing was still beautiful, especially when describing the setting, so I’m still willing to read more from this author in the future.

I really enjoyed this book! The characters were dynamic, and the setting was so rich. The imagery was beautiful and descriptive, and it felt like I was experiencing Scotland right alongside Addie.

I loved Logan and Addie together. Their banter and rivals to lovers relationship was so much fun to read. They both had complex backstories and emotional depth that made them feel like real people.

This book had me ready to pack my bags, and I can’t recommend it enough! Scotland, here I come!

Addie Macrae is living her dream job - traveling the world, seeing all the international sights, and never has to return to her childhood home. She thinks she’s left the pain of her past behind her, but an opportunity that combines work with a chance to explore some of her mother’s history brings it all crashing in around her.

Cute, slow burn romance story with the right amount of spark and wit between the characters. I really enjoyed the sprinkling of history facts in regards to Scotland and some of the tourist attractions, both on and off the beaten path.

This book was delightful and truly transported me back to Scotland. I loved the chemistry between Addie & Logan. I'm a sucker for an enemies to lover storyline and this did not disappoint! The setting was truly the cherry on top for me. One of my favorite places and one of my favorite genres. This is a charming and joy filled story that will keep you smiling from beginning to end.

Kilt Trip takes the reader to Scotland where we meet Addie Macrae. Addie is a travel consultant who has avoided Scotland until the company she works for is hired by the owner of the Sutherland's family-run tour company, Heart of the Highlands, to help turn it around. She meets Logan, the oldest son while taking one of his tours to assess it. They hit it off on the tour and Logan is surprised and not very happy to find out that she is the American expert, come to tell him how to conduct his tours. When they challenge one another to come up with a tour, Logan finds out Addie's reason for staying away from Scotland for so long, as well as her yearning to connect with places there. Along the way, they grudgingly begin to respect one another's skills and fall in love.

Kilt Trip is a wonderful enemies to lovers story. Addie has a lot of baggage when it comes to Scotland and relationships. I enjoyed getting to know her and see her open up and enjoy her time there. Scotland is such a beautiful country with so much history. I have visited, but just saw and experienced the tip of the iceberg. I know I want to go back and would love to go on one of Logan's tours. He loves his country and his job. He wants people to experience the "real" Scotland and make connections, not just visit the top tourist attractions. Logan and Addie had such an interesting journey together. Their banter was fun, their emotions realistic and their relationship developed honestly. The story of Addie trying to find all the spots in the pictures she brought with her was touching. As Addie grew and recognized that love can remain in your heart even if you move forward, made me smile and tear up as well. This is a lovely story with a great setting, wonderful characters and a lot of fun. I definitely recommend it.

What makes this romance unique is tourism industry plot and carefully placed lessons in the history of Scotland. I really enjoyed learning about both Scottish history and slang. This book will give readers the itch to travel and see all the castles we've visited in the story.

This romcom might be in my top 10 of all time! It’s a realistic enemies to lovers when Addie, an American consultant, come to Edinburgh to help overhaul the guide tours happening for a failing Scottish family business, which is currently run by a hot, kilt-wearing man named Logan. Logan and Addie experience instant chemistry. However, Logan is blindsided by Addie’s arrival by his father. Let the tension and banter commence! Kiley writes about parental loss and touches on grief in an extremely heartfelt way. Oh, and there’s no miscommunication trope! The spice is also top-tier. Definitely pick this one up if you want to laugh and cry!

Kilt Trip By Alexandra Kiley

Thank you Netgalley for providing an eARC in exchange for an honest review! As always, all opinions are my own.

Addie, a travel consultant, has been dispatched to Scotland to assist a family-owned touring company in overhauling their business operations. However, Logan, the proprietor's son, is resistant to her arrival, convinced that he possesses superior knowledge of running the enterprise.

Addie's mandate is to modernize the family-owned touring company's systems and processes, thereby enhancing its profitability and competitiveness. However, Logan, who believes he has an in-depth understanding of the business, harbors reservations about her expertise.

Although I haven't yet had the chance to visit Scotland, Kiley's writing transported me there with ease. Through Logan's eyes, I learned about Scottish traditions and culture, from the castles and livestock to other notable landmarks. The romance between Addie and Logan was delightful, with an undeniable spark and witty conversation.

But what truly stood out about Kiley's writing was the emotional depth she brought to the story. Alexandra Kiley's portrayal of grief in Kilt Trip was truly beautiful. As someone who appreciates stories that delve deep into characters, I was struck by how Addie's struggles with the loss of her mother were portrayed in such a heartfelt manner. Despite the passing of years, grief can linger, and being in a place that held such significance for her mother was understandably difficult for Addie. Her emotions surrounding her father and his neglect after her mother's death were also explored in a sensitive way. Initially hesitant to discuss this topic, Addie eventually opens up to Logan, who proves to be a supportive presence in her life. The subplot about finding the locations in Scotland where her mother took polaroid pictures was a lovely addition to the story, and added a heartwarming touch.

Overall, Kilt Trip is an amazing book that will leave you feeling swooned and delighted. It's a sexy and emotional read that will make you want to plan an excursion to find your own kilt-wearing Scot. Overall, it's a fantastic book that I highly recommend.
