Kilt Trip is one of those books that you can feel. I can feel the breeze, imagine the landscape, and feel the Scottish Highlands as if I'm there. I love that Logan pushes Addie to thrive rather than just live. He encourages her to broaden her horizons, love more, and experience life rather than just being a bystander. I absolutely adored it!
Kilt Trip is a delightful read that will whisk you away to the magical landscapes of Scotland and leave you with a warm, fuzzy feeling. The heartfelt narrative of this book is a true gem for anyone seeking a charming romance. Their banter and conflicts, add fun and authenticity to their characters. As Logan and Addie embark on a private tour to explore the places captured in Addie's mother's photographs, you can create the visions in your own mind.
Prepare to be swept off your feet on a journey that will make you believe in love and travel.
Took a little while to get into, but once I started I couldn't put it down. Good characters, witty banter, emotional depth, and well-written.
Kilt Trip was such a fun escape. I loved this book from the title/description alone before I'd even started digging into the story.
The main characters, Addie and Logan are both flawed and hurt by past experiences. As we come to know them (once getting past their annoying antics to best each other) and see how much they're each seeking for something meaningful and real, we can't help but root for them to find happiness.
I enjoyed the side characters in this story as well--all of the tour company employees and Logan's family in Scotland and Addie's work friends from Boston. Each of them added an extra dimension to the story. So many of us as adults carry around baggage of past hurts from our childhood or teenage years, and Addie's grief over her mother and estrangement from her father felt real and tangible. Also Logan's fear of letting down his family is super relatable, and made me feel invested in his success.
The steamy love scenes will make you want to book a tour of Scotland yourself and stay in a haunted castle overnight. I enjoyed following along on the Highlands tour and learning some historical facts about Scotland as I read. Thanks for the chance to join the fun!
Alexandra Kiley is a writer to watch!! Kilt Trip manages to be sexy, sentimental, funny, and thoughtful all at once, all in a stunning Scottish setting. Logan is... well, a dream, especially in a Kilt!!! Kiley deftly navigates issues of grief while also making sure each character has their own arc of personal growth. A wonderful and beautiful read!!!

In this captivating novel, the allure of Scotland serves as a compelling backdrop that beckons readers to embark on their own Scottish odyssey. The narrative introduces us to a pair of intriguing protagonists, Addie and Logan, whose intricate emotional journeys are at the heart of the story.
Addie, burdened by a painful past, approaches life with a guarded heart, never allowing herself to become too attached or to establish roots in any one place. Logan, on the other hand, is haunted by a past business risk that he believes jeopardized his family's legacy, rendering him hesitant to embrace change. The clash between these two strong-willed characters is palpable within the office setting, where their frequent skirmishes are fueled by an undeniable undercurrent of attraction and tension.
However, it is when Addie and Logan find themselves together on tours of Scotland that the narrative truly shines. Here, against the backdrop of this enchanting land, their personal growth is both heartwarming and genuine. As Logan helps Addie uncover the connections to her mother's photographs, the story reaches emotional depths that can genuinely move readers to tears.
The gradual evolution of both Addie and Logan throughout the book is a testament to the author's skill in crafting well-rounded characters. Their interactions serve as catalysts for personal development, and their journey towards mutual understanding feels authentic and heartfelt. The depth of their feelings for each other is palpable and profoundly portrayed.
While the perpetual rivalry and discord between Addie and Logan within the office may test the patience of some readers, it is within this tumultuous dynamic that their true characters are revealed. The constant oscillation between intimacy and standoffishness, although occasionally frustrating, adds a layer of complexity to their relationship. It is, therefore, with a sense of satisfaction that we witness the eventual resolution of this aspect of the narrative, even if it feels somewhat protracted.
In conclusion, this book offers a mesmerizing blend of romance, personal growth, and a vivid Scottish backdrop. While some may find the ebb and flow of Addie and Logan's relationship exasperating, it ultimately leads to a deeply satisfying resolution. For those with a yearning for Scotland and an appreciation for well-drawn characters, this novel is a must-read that will transport you to the stunning landscapes and emotional depths of the Scottish Highlands.
Kilt Trip proved to be a mixed bag, delivering a pleasurable and engaging reading journey with a few bumps along the way.
One of the novel's standout features was its vivid portrayal of the breathtaking Scottish landscapes and the infusion of rich cultural elements. It felt as if I had been transported directly to Scotland, enriching the narrative with an exceptional and immersive layer. Undoubtedly, the highlight of the book was the chemistry shared by the MCs, Addie and Logan. The perpetual rivalry and discord between Addie and Logan within the office setting did grow tiresome for me.. The constant oscillation between intimacy and standoffishness left me somewhat frustrated, and I felt they could have communicated more effectively. Nevertheless, their eventual resolution provided a satisfying conclusion to this aspect of the narrative, even if it felt somewhat drawn out.
Overall, Kilt Trip was entertaining and light hearted. I will definitely check out the authors other works!
I tried getting into this book and finally had to give up at the 20% mark. I really wanted to like it but the moment the office banter started I knew I couldn't continue. I was not a fan of the male main character and struggled to continue to read. There was almost instant connection which felt very insta-love to me which is something I'm not a fan of. This book was just not something I would be interested in. That doesn't mean it isn't for others.
I requested this book because I was going to Scotland and wanted a light hearted read while I was there. This definitely fit the bill.
It was so fun to read about the business side of a small tour, since I went on a 3 day small tour myself.
I really liked the writing style for the scenes where the two main characters connected romantically. There was physical connection but also the way they truly fell for each other was sweet and emotional.
The writing at other times was a bit overwrought but that was fine. I also felt that the main character's emotional roadblock that she got over by the end was slightly unbelievable. But that was also only a small complaint because I was reading it to have a fun romp through the Scottish Highlands and I did get that. I really liked the family and the work friends in Edinburgh.
4.5 stars rounded up. This was a beautiful debut novel with charming characters and descriptive writing that painted the scenery of Scotland as a character itself.
Addie works as a travel consultant and her latest assignment finds her in Edinburgh to help rejuvenate business for a family-owned tour company. Enter Logan, the only son still involved with the business and content to maintain the status quo of the tours they offer. Their conflicting outlooks for the company have them finding ways to challenge each other’s ideas and prove their own is what fits. When they embark on a mission of tracking down places Addie’s late mother had visited, they learn they actually work together much better than they’d ever imagined.
First, this book made me want to travel to Scotland. Second, I’d very much like to find a Logan if/when I do. There was so much emotion in the story, both in the individual storylines of Addie and Logan and in their relationship together. Addie has a painful history and it has made her guarded against getting too attached to anyone or really putting down roots anywhere. Logan believes he put his family’s legacy in jeopardy the one time he tried to take a business risk and now shies away from changing what works. The two of them definitely clash in the office, but there is always an underlying attraction and tension between them. Where the book truly shines though is when they find themselves together on their tours and when Logan helps Addie find the connections to her mother’s photographs. There were moments that genuinely moved me to tears. Both Logan and Addie experienced a lot of personal growth throughout the book and I felt like they helped each other achieve some of that growth. I believed in the depth of their feelings for each other.
The things that made me go with 4.5 instead of a full 5 stars were minimal. I wish there had been a bit more of Addie’s relationship with her dad. It definitely played a role in shaping who she was and had an effect on the conflict between her and Logan, but I felt like I wanted a little bit more follow up on that. There were also just a few times that the flow of the story felt a little bit choppy and I had to reorient myself, but not enough to take me fully out of the story.
The acknowledgments began with a statement of this book being a love letter to Scotland, and I think that goal was absolutely accomplished. I look forward to reading what Alexandra Kiley comes up with next.
This was really cute and charming! With themes of healing from loss and beautiful, lush descriptions, "Kilt Trip" will make you fall in love with Scotland just as much as with the main characters.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc! Opinions are my own.
This was a cute contemporary romance! The main character, Addie, is a travel consultant who helps tour agencies optimize their business. She takes a job in Scotland to help a small family business and to reconnect with some places her late mom visited before Addie was born. The initial meet cute is fun, and leads to lots of fun banter and back and forth once the tour guide/MMC realizes who she is and why she's there. The story felt longer than most romances, but gave time for the characters to grow and nicely wrap up some of the family issues each character had on the side. Super sweet epilogue, too!
What a delightful, breezy and thoroughly enjoyable read! This centers on Addie, emotionally unavailable due to a troubled and grief-filled past, and Logan, sext sweetheart in a kilt. Aside from being absolutely hilarious in parts, this is a sizzlingly sweet stunner of a debut that turns a number of tropes on their heads in ways that, as an avid romance reader, I found incredibly refreshing. It was so great to see the heroine be the broody one for a change, and for the hero to bring a generosity of spirit to the table from the beginning. Logan was so charming and refreshingly different than the alpha-hole heroes that have been done to death. I adored him, I adored his treatment of Addie, and wow, this is the kind of guy you should marry in real life. THANK YOU for bringing such genuine characters to the page. Also of note is the richly rendered setting and the author’s obvious familiarity with Scotland and the UK, which lends the whole story a depth and credibility that makes the story sing. Five stars and I can’t wait for the next one!
As a lover of all things Scotland, I was dying to read this book and happy that I got an early chance to. Addie comes to Scotland for work as she helps tour guide companies revamp their businesses. She clashes with Logan, the son of her new client who wants nothing to do with her suggestions for change. As things usually go, sparks fly and the two fall for each other. Problem is, Addie has trust issues and is a wanderer. So it’s up to Logan to convince Addie not to run.
The only thing I didn’t care for in terms of the book was that it did drag a bit for me in the middle, but it was a solid finish.
Thanks as usual to NetGalley for the ARC.
A sweet novel about Addie and Logan and the Bonny country of Scotland. The history and beauty will charm you and the couple sorting through their past, present, and future will too!
This book just ticked all the boxes for me. Scotland? Check. Men in kilts? Check. Gorgeous descriptions of the country and its history.? Check. Steamy? Check. , Man falls in love first? Check. All any woman wants is a man who is crazy about her.and Alexandra Riley writes this so well. Oh, and the Rick Steves digs? Fabulous!
Beautiful prose, hunk'o'Scot, loads of laughs, this spicy romance has it all!
Addie Macrae is a travel consultant, and she'll go anywhere. Well, anywhere except Scotland, which was special to her late mom. But unfortunately, that's where her boss sends her. Logan is a rugged Scot and has no interest in the American 'expert' pushing tourist traps and Loch Ness myths to make a buck. When Logan finds out about Addie's secret connection to Scotland, a few faded pictures of her mom, he takes her on a private tour of all the places in her mom's photos.
I loved watching Addie and Logan's bickering at the beginning, then the way he led her on a journey of discovery. The connection between them was heartwarming to watch. I loved the humor in this. The descriptions of Scotland were gorgeous. This book was really the perfect Scottish romance! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the advanced digital reader's copy (ARC) in exchange for an honest review!
Alexandra Kiley has written a perfect Scottish romance. I loved Addie and Logan’s enemies to lovers journey and will recommend to all.
Overall, I enjoyed Kilt Trip and found it to be a fun romp. The beginning of the book went a bit slow and it took me a bit of time to truly "get in to" the book. Once I finally did though, I was off to the races. I enjoyed the incorporation of beautiful Scottish scenery and culture. The chemistry between Addie and Logan was on fire. Would definitely recommend this book as a fun and frothy read.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
If there is going to be a mmc who is scottish, you have to detail more than his calves and eyes. Also, he needs to speak with a scottish accent. "Aye" doesn't count.
Maybe outlander spoiled everything scottish for me.
