Cute Scottish romcom with a heavy dash of wander-lust!
Is this a completely original story, no.
Do we read these books to find a unique story that will hold up to the passage of time, no.
But that's totally ok.
It was fun and a little steamy. For me it was the perfect pallet cleanser between Fantasy worlds.
I love all of the Scottish details throughout the book as well.

As a lover of romance novels and an avid fan of all things Scottish, this was the book for me! I also really love the fact that this book has an Outlander shoutout. The relationship involves a little lust at first sight and antagonism to romanticism. The underlying storyline of connecting with a heritage is truly beautiful and inspires the reader to want to visit the country.

Addie is a travel consultant and her current job is in Scotland helping a family-run tour company. Logan is in said family, and helps with the tours. He doesn't believe that an American expert in tourist traps will be good for the business and a good old-fashioned rivalry begins. I really loved this premise and the Scottish Highlands are one of my favorite settings for books. But the dialogue for me was awkward and cringe at times. I think a lot of others will love this one but unfortunately it was not for me. Adorable cover though!

Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing | Canary Street Press for providing me a digital reviewer copy in exchange for my honest thoughts.

Some people will absolutely love this book and unfortunately, I was not one of them. I really liked the premise of this book, and loved that it’s set in Scotland but it seemed to cling to the enemies to lovers/slow burn/he falls first tropes a little too hard. I normally love him falling first and her being closed off hard to get and him having to pursue intently. But to me it seemed like there was this back and forth banter for a little bit with the heat between them growing and all of a sudden he was in love with her and wanting more and she was afraid. There were moments when I thought the story was really cute but all in all, to me this felt like one of the dime a dozen rom-com books that have come out in the era of tiktok. There wasn't anything new or exciting about the book and to me it was very predictable.

I appreciate Alexandra Kiley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for allowing me to read this copy early.

Spoiler-free synopsis:

Addie is in Scotland to help a struggling tour guide company turn itself around and also to reconnect with her mom’s past. Will Logan, the grumpy owner of the travel company, help her in her goal or will everything be one big power trip?

Things I liked:
Enemies to lovers
Scottish vibes

Things I didn’t care for:
Miscommunication trope
3rd act break up

Now, I really can’t do a miscommunication trope. It’s my least favorite thing. And this whole book felt like one big one. It just wasn’t entirely for me. The smut was top-notch and very romantic instead of overly raunchy. If they had just TALKED, I would have been a much happier gal.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the E-ARC of Kilt Trip. This is an adorable romance set in the Scotland highlands. Very atmospheric.

I received this ARC from NetGalley.

Loved the whole Scottish setting, but wasn't that into the love story.

A cute read.

Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin for an e-galley of Kilt Trip.

A wanderlust filled tour guide consultant and a tour guide firmly ensconced in his family's company meet when Addie is assigned to Logan's company. Addie is perplexed by their off the beaten path tours of Edinburgh that complete ignore the major tourist points. Logan is irked that his dad felt the need to hire someone to revamp the company before his retirement. Neither of them are willing to work with each other.

In a charming romance, we explore Scotland with Addie and Logan, as they fall in love during their journey.

I was graciously given an ARC of Kilt Trip by Alexandra Kiley. I loved the cover, the book summary and I love anything to do Scotland. It took me awhile to get into the book, I even put it down and read something else, but when I did pick it back up, I was hooked. The characters were great and relatable. If you like a cute romance story with a grumpy Scotsman this is your book!

3.5 stars

i mean.. he is Scottish, wears a kilt, and calls her 'lass'. *swoons*

Scotland is my favourite place I've ever travelled, and I think about going back all the time.. so I jumped at the chance to read this!

Addie and Logan meet under fall pretenses, have an immediate attraction... and then the next day they unexpectedly see each other again when Addie shows up to Logan's business, a Scottish tours company, as a consultant dead set on changing everything about how Logan runs his business. Addie wants to essentially change up all his routes to mostly only hit all the big tourist destinations.. but Logan's tours are very much rooted in the nostalgia of his childhood, in his love for his country, and in wanting to give people a more immersive and memorable experience. So they immediately do not get along.

the bickering was fun, the pranks pretty hilarious.

Logan is so earnest, so sweet and is always right there, waiting for Addie to open up and let him in.

Addie is grieving a loss that has stayed with her for years, and as she explores Scotland and allows herself to feel for Logan, we get to see her work through a lot of bottled up pain and emotions.

This had a wonderful balance of funny, emotional and sexy moments. I highlighted quite a few scenes, quotes and moments on my kindle.

honestly, I want to pack my bags and book a one-way ticket to Scotland...

DNF'd at 3%. I am not as much a contemporary girl as I am a fantasy girl. I may enjoy this in the future. <3

I had never had an insatiable urge to travel to Scotland until I read this book. Addie and Logan's story was a light-hearted, quick read that I enjoyed immensely. This was a charming contemporary romance that delivered some very satisfying spicy scenes paired with one of my favorite tropes (rivals to lovers).

I highly recommend this book for anyone who loves their romance with a side of adventure and travel.

I liked this one, it had some cute banter, character development and a heartfelt back story for our FMC.
Addie is tasked with helping Logan's family business turn things around, but this does not go smoothly and they butt heads quite a bit.
Through spending time together, the two of them open up to each other, and what their fears are and how that shapes them.
I like how close Logan's family was and how that juxtaposed with Addie's experience.
A solid read.

Wanna visit Scotland?? This book will fan that spark into a flame. It’s the perfect witty romcom mixed with a dash of history and deep emotion. Addie Macrae is a tourist company expert from the deserts of New Mexico whose assignment is to revitalize a struggling family-owed Scottish tour company. Logan Sutherland is a Scottish tour guide whose love of hidden gems found only in the magic of the highlands isn’t helping pay the bills.

This was such a delightful story. Logan and Addie have a beautiful connection that’s more than just physical (but also - yay for yummy spicy scenes!). Both have emotional scars and abandonment issues to overcome. Logan is not your typical MC - he’s so intentional getting to know Addie’s heart, and Addie is the one to keep her distance. This book will definitely make you crave a deeper connection with the world around you. Can’t wait to read more from this author in the near future.

Audio Notes:
Absolutely fantastic narration. The authentic Scottish accent and smooth performance provided an immersive experience. Pacing and diction were well done. I would definitely recommend this audiobook to romance readers.

This book not only delivers a charming contemporary romance, but also doubles as a heartfelt ode to Scotland. Alexandra masterfully interlaces Scottish traditions, history, and cultural nuances throughout the narrative, achieving a seamless blend that feels both enchanting and natural.

The story centers around Addie, a pragmatic and driven professional specializing in revitalizing old tourism enterprises, and Logan, a nostalgic Scotsman dedicated to preserving his family’s tour business. Their initial clashes in the workplace set the stage for a romance laced with slow-building tension, close encounters, and a touch of an adversaries-to-lovers trope. Both are determined to convince the other of their respective business visions.

The pace might decelerate midway as the author delves into rich descriptions of Scottish landscapes and traditions, but this only enhances the vividness of the setting—it’s as if you’re right there in Scotland, joining Addie and Logan for New Year’s celebrations or visiting the majestic Highland cows.

Ultimately, this novel is a delightful blend of romantic tension and deep emotional connections, making the characters relatable and the romantic payoff satisfying. It’s also packed with compelling reasons to visit Scotland, with the allure of kilt-clad men topping the list. Whether you’re a romance aficionado or a lover of all things Scottish, this book is a wonderfully engaging getaway.

For fans of a scottland setting book, with romance and adventure. This will give you a scottland landscape with history and romance! The two are instantly attracted although not instant love, and the two have to find there path to each other. Logan is stubborn and addie is still greiving her mother. The description of scottland was wonderful and it made me feel like I was there, and made me want to go visit. You could see th passion the writer has for scottland! We see these characters grow while in beautiful scottland

I wanted to like this book. I wanted to read this book. I wanted to finish this book, but I didn’t. And I HATE when I DNF a book. 🫣😭 I requested this book bc it sounded interesting, and let’s be honest… romance in Scotland… men in kilts… yes, please. It seemed right up my alley and yet I just couldn’t get into it. I tried- I really did! I picked it up and put it back down so many times. I tried reading it in the car, I tried reading it in the bath- I even tried reading it on an international flight, and every time I lost interest within a few pages. Honestly I’m kind of discouraged bc I REALLY did want to read it. I ended up reading 8+ other books in the time I was also trying to read this one. The other reviews I read seem pretty good, but I just never felt engaged when trying to read this. Something about it always felt flat to me. I’m giving it a star rating of 3 partly bc I have to give it some kind of rating and bc what I read wasn’t bad- it just didn’t hold my interest. Also, if I’m being honest, I feel bad doing 2 stars.
I appreciate the publisher and NetGalley sending me an ARC of this and I wish I was able to send back something more positive.

Not my favorite debut, it felt very stilted and awkward but overall not bad. I would love to read more by this author.

4 stars!

I really enjoyed this one! It was cheesy but cute and I would definitely read another book by this author!

It was a perfect read for March too!

A good cozy ready, like an open door Hallmark romance. The only thing that could make it better would be listening to Scottish accents in an audiobook (I was picturing Sam Heughan reading to me as I read). If you are just looking to escape your reality this book would be a great pick.
