This book is adorable.
Addie has been running away from her problems since her mom's death. Addie is a travel consultant. her job is to advise tourism businesses on best practices and what tours would draw in the most guests. Her latest project is a family tour business in Scotland. This is when she meets the hunky and broody Logan. He believes tours should make guests feel something. To prove Addie wrong, he creates a tour individualized to her history.
Why this book is amazing:
~Dual POV
~Overcoming past trauma
~Reconnecting with her mom
~Forced Proximity
~Slowburn
~Scotland
Thank you, Alexandra Kiley and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was a very cute book! I enjoyed reading it and felt that both of the characters went through major developments. I enjoyed the found family aspect in terms of finding a place of belonging and people to rely on. The storyline with Addie's father felt a bit rushed, and I would have liked it to have been fleshed out more. Overall, I highly recommend it and will recommend it to those who like hallmark-like romance novels.
I loved this book!
As a girl with a Scottish heritage it’s my dream to go to Scotland. This book gave me a little of that.
I loved Addie and Logan and their banter. Such good tension leading to the spice. They were so likable and I loved both of them.
I knew I would enjoy this simply because it takes place in Scotland! Thankfully it turned out to be a very entertaining story as well. Addie landed herself in some hilarious situations and her sense of humor made me literally laugh out loud. Her banter with Logan was wonderful, and I loved every member of his family and all their coworkers.
I kept getting caught on Addie's job as a travel consultant. I think her job worked well for the plot, but it seemed a little scattered and more like an afterthought.
Overall, I enjoyed it because it took place in Scotland, but I don't know I would have enjoyed it much if it were in a different setting. However, it would make an excellent Hallmark movie.

This book does such a wonderful job of creating the atmosphere and making you feel like your in the characters' version of Scotland. I really enjoyed Addie and Logan for the most part, but I did think there was a lot of emotional turmoil that resulted in Addie in particular changing her mind pretty drastically that felt frustrating to read, but also Logan felt frustrated by it too so it still fit within the context of the story.
'Kilt Trip' by Alexandra Kiley is exactly what you're looking for when you want a sweet Scottish romance.
I started and restarted this book multiple times due to the nostalgia it invoked when reading about all the historical sites we visited while in Scotland right before the pandemic. This author brings a feeling of authenticity to her descriptions of these sites and reverence for preserving these heritage sites.
I teared up multiple times when the main female character reflected on the grief of losing her mother while also experiencing the distance and lost time of a living parent who is so lost in their grief that everyone and everything gets left behind (I’ve experienced this and it’s so devastating)! I definitely understand the tension and stubbornness of both characters wanting the other to understand and compromise but know that things have to fall into place before you can come together and make a relationship work. I absolutely LOVE this book and can’t wait to read more books by this author.
Kilt Trip is a fantastic debut with memorable characters and animals!
Addie has always had a penchant for seeign the world- taking after her late mom's passion. She's currently a travel consultant sent to Scotland, not her favorite place as it holds meaning to her Mom. Logan loves his Scotland homeland and all it's charming quirks. He's always wanted to run the family business after his Dad. But, Dad has brought in a travel advisor to help gain money- his worst nightmare. Even worse? It's Addie, the traveler he met at the local bar the night before.
Listen, this cover looks adorable but don't let it fool you! Kilt Trip packs an emotional punch. You've got Addie's mom dying and her Dad grieving on his own time, in his own way, basically shying away from his only daughter. Then there's Logan and his feeling of "not good enough" as his family hires Addie. But then there's the hilarious found family and cows. Love the overall setting and the whimsiness of Scotland! Alexandra Kiley's Kilt Trip is a fantastic debut that has me craving more from her soon.
This was a cute enemies to lovers romance read. With all the atmosphere of the highlands this book takes you on a virtual tour of the Scotland minus the actual man in a kilt (we have to settle for one in the pages). Filled with history and humor this adorable romance will inspire you to book a trip to Scotland and remind you that often taking a risk with your heart is worth it, true connection is the much more fulfilling than superficial and sometimes going off the beaten path is the way to true discovery and appreciation for a place. Definitely a fun ride.
I tried to like this book but in the end I just don't care about the characters. It made me want to visit Scotland & meet a handsome kilt wearing man. A job as a travel consultant sounds cool but I've never heard that term or job before. There's so many things going on between all the characters that the romance got lost, all the issues weren't resolved and that felt like loose strings.

Warning: this RomCom *will* have you daydreaming about abandoning all responsibilities and running away to Scotland.
Addie Macrae’s career as a travel consultant has her rehabilitating tourism businesses all over the world, but there is one place that she’s avoided: Scotland. It’s the place that most reminds her of the mother she lost over a decade ago. Now she finds herself in the Highlands, coming face to face with her mother’s memory and failing miserably to convince a certain kilt-clad business owner to embrace changes to bring in more revenue. Against her better judgment, Addie finds herself growing attached to a place she’s always been afraid of and, even more terrifyingly, the people who live there.
I really enjoyed the beginning of this novel (I love a good mistaken identity!) but I felt the plotting throughout the middle wasn’t as strong. It seemed that there were moments that were happening off-page that were important in developing the romantic connection between the characters (and even the friendships with the supporting characters).
Overall, I think Kilt Trip is a fun RomCom to escape into, especially if you’re partial to hot men in kilts! (Which… who isn’t?!)

I enjoyed this! It was sweet, and the romance was cute I loved reading the banter. However it isn’t a memorable story, and it did not blow me away. Sometimes I was confused with where the story was going. Nevertheless, I was kept interested until the end thanks to the characters. If you want something quick and easy to read, as well as cute, give this a try! ❤️
This was okayish.
The plot was interesting, but the execution of the story felt very formulaic.
The calculated way the author hit all the tropes and "pivotal" moments made it more clinical than wistful. As a result it removed a lot of the emotions and gave me deja vu the whole time I was reading.
Thanks to NetGalley & Harlequin Trade Publishing for my ARC.

A hot, kilt-wearing Scottish man that just wants to make his family proud and be in a committed relationship with a heart of gold and mix in a little bit of broody? Sign me up, lass!
Kilt Trip is such a cute read that makes me want to visit Scotland even more. It read well without needing to blast through it and forget everything the second it was over, the characters were memorable and had just enough Scottish history that I learned more than I thought I would but it didn’t feel like just a history book.
The way Addie’s character worked her way through the grief of losing her mother and is able to move forward while finding peace was beautifully written and a great representation of working through difficult situations and letting others help you through it (you don’t have to do it alone).
Loved the banter between the Addie and Logan. One of my favorite moments:
“How many points did that cost me?”
“Seven hundred.”
“Worth it.”

I really liked this one! I LOVE a good Scottish story and Logan (MMC) did my absolute favorite thing and called Addie (FMC) "Lass" <3
It was also sexier than I expected, which was a lovely bonus.
I have not yet experienced grief to the same degree as Addie, but I think the author did a good job touching on the continuity of grief and how it is something that will continue to come up over a decade later, especially when you lose someone so pivotal in your life. I also really connected to Addie's struggle with vulnerability and her need to run or keep things light when things start getting serious. I would guess (hope) that I'm not the only one who feels this way, and I think others will relate to this aspect of Addie as well.
I do think that the relationship with her dad could have been touched on a bit more at the end. I also felt like the epilogue was narrated in a way that made it seem like it had only been a few weeks or months since the end of the book, but supposedly it was taking place a year later.
Overall a really cute book with flawed but likable characters. I recommend!
I am a sucker for a book with amazing banter and snarking characters and this book delivered! It's just such a fun enemies to lovers rom com set in Scotland! Fun read
This was cute. It didn’t blow me away, but it was a sweet read that kept me engaged and interested in the story and characters.
I don’t know if it was me or the writing style, but sometimes I got a bit confused as to what was going on, and during some of the dialogue exchanges between characters. I did listen to a portion of the audiobook, but I didn’t love the narrators’s performances so I ended up reading more of it rather than listening.
I liked the descriptions of the Highlands and Scotland – it gave me that wanderlust they talk so much about in the book. You can feel the chemistry and connection between Addie and Logan, and their push and pull was entertaining.
I didn’t quite understand what the company Addie works for does for the tour companies – or why there couldn’t be more of a compromise between the heritage tours and the tours Addie’s boss wanted. I felt like I was missing something, especially in the end with how everything ended up with the tours.
Overall, not my favorite, but I’m curious if we’ll get more stories about this group of characters – particularly Logan’s brothers and perhaps even Elyse. I’ll be keeping an eye out to see if the author turns this into a series.
This felt more like a travel guide for Scotland than a romance. What’s weird is that this is such a slow moving story, but the romance felt insta-lovey. I would have liked the romance between her and Logan to be developed more bc they did have chemistry, but in the end their connection felt more physical than emotional. I love that Addie wanted to travel around Scotland to feel close to her late mother, but I just couldn’t connect to her. The third act breakup was predictable and happened way too early. Unfortunately, this book just wasn’t for me.
Content: language, multiple open door explicit
Thank you to Canary Street Press for an advanced copy. My thoughts are my own.
A cute debut from author Alexandra Kiley. The story of travel consultant Addie coming to Scotland to 'fix' a tour company. Little does she know she'll face her grief and find new love! This book definitely made me want to visit Scotland and see all the sights!
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC
First and foremost I would like to thank Netgalley and the publishing company for allowing me to read and review this ARC. Thank y’all so much!
Put your passports away, you don’t need them for the wild adventure you’re about to go on.
Addie works as a tour consultant, well basically she gets hired to fix tour companies all around the world. She often gets to see amazing countries and cities as an image of her late mother, Heather; who not only was a free spirit but inspired Addie to “do what she loves”.
But there is one country in which she tried to avoid working in Scotland.
We later find out that the reason is because of the connection Heather had with the country and that it would be too painful for Addie to see some of her favorite places. That’s until she meets a man with a very attractive kilt and also a struggling tour company.
Enter Logan… wrapped in tartan and an amazing storyteller: Addie normally doesn’t mix business and pleasure but how could you not fall for the very attractive Scott?
What I loved about the novel was not only the steamy scenes (yeah… I think I’m going to buy my spouse a kilt because of this) but the ability to reconnect with your roots. To walk amount the same places as Addie’s mother and feel as if you are grieving her loss too. It’s a very healing love letter to the ones that we have lost.
