Rosie and Chad have inherited an apartment from Chads uncle. The apartment has a history. At first things seem fine but as time goes by but Rosie starts to feel uncomfortable. The vibes in this book were creepy. There is a side story from the past. The book kept me interested enough to keep reading. Who to trust is the question. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

The New Couple in 5B is a mystery/thriller with supernatural elements. Normally I would not care for the whole supernatural/ghost vibe but I actually did not mind in this novel. The storyline, plot, characters were so enjoyable I could not wait to unravel it all.

Rosie, a struggling writer who is working on her second book, and her "sort of" actor husband, Chad, have been struggling to make ends meet. They have been taking care of Chad's uncle during his illness. However, he has now passed away and left them with the luxury apartment in Windermere, a pre-war building in Murray Hill. The Windermere has a dark history, a lot of death/suicides/murders have happened there. Has their luck finally turned out? Is this their happily ever after? They are grateful for this opportunity but Rosie is questioning why he chose to gave the apartment to them and not his daughter. She knows he has not been close with his daughter and he was not the best father but still that is his only child. Once settled in, they begin to get to know her neighbors. They are all an interesting bunch. Also, the doorman is always around and watching. Rosie gets the feeling there is more to this place than meets they eye.

What a suspenseful and mysteriously spooky novel. I loved all the characters in the book and was obsessed with the whole vibe of the place. I did not see the twist coming towards the end! I would highly recommend reading this one!

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Park Row Books for an ARC of this book!

Thank you Netgalley, Lisa Unger, and Park Row Books for the chance to read this ARC in exchange for a review.

This is only my second book I have read of Lisa's but I will read more.

Although it seems the storyline has been is many books I have read family member dies when a couple is struggling for money, family member that dies gives them a creepy old house and of course it just can't be a house it has to have secrets, spook, and some murders in the past.

Even though I have read a few of these it's always interesting to me how will am author make their book stand out? She does a great job with suspense/thriller. I wanted to keep reading to know the ending. Success Lisa!!

This story takes place in an old pre-war apartment building in New York City.

Rosie and Chad inherited a nice wealthy apartment from Chad's uncle. But why didn't the uncle give this apartment to his own daughter? Rosie is very excited to write about this apartment so they move in. With a dark past will they find out if this apartment isn't as good of a deal as they thought?

This story has some ghosts which I usually don't like but Lisa does a good job keeping me entertained anyways. I would recommend this book to fellow Lisa Unger fans.

When Rosie and Chad inherit his uncle’s luxury apartment, it couldn’t come at a better time. Both are struggling yet beginning to build their respective careers; Rosie, a writer, and Chad, an actor. The apartment building itself is a dream, complete with a doorman and quite a history. Rosie decides to write about the dark history surrounding the building where many have met a gruesome fate.

When Rosie starts to notice things are a bit off at the Windemere, Chad (and the neighbors) explain everything away, making her question her own sanity. As the deaths pile up and things become more bizarre, Rosie starts to uncover the truth about the Windemere and its dark history.

What a chilling story this is! From the weird neighbors and doorman to the intercom installed within the apartment to the strange number of mysterious deaths, the Windemere became a character in its own right. Rosie, a girl after my own heart, has her own past to contend with that she’s been running away from but with Chad becoming less and less emotionally available, she’s pretty much on her own to delve into the mystery that is the Windemere and all of its strange occupants.

I loved this one – the characters, the atmosphere, the setting, the backstory. Everything worked together to make a chilling story that completely transfixed me!

My thanks to @HTPBooks for this gifted copy!

Again, if you know me then YOU KNOW I am a huge fan of Ms. Lisa! This book checked all the boxes for me, as usual. Hmmm, how can I say this, it sort of reminds me of Rosemary's Baby. The building itself is like creepy as all heck, and yes, when you inherit something and need a place to stay, ok. But come one. This one is total Ghost story so don't let her past work take you by surprise, and with that said please keep reading the story. It is a thriller, yes! But if you don't normally do creepy just turn on a light, read it the day and enjoy it! I sure did! LOL

3.5 rounded up

Ok I was tentative about reading another book by her because the last one, secluded cabin sleeps six, was just okay. It felt a little predictable.

That being said about a quarter of the way through my mind went through " crap, this is going to be a knockoff of.rosemarys baby" to "even her name is Rosie" and "creepy older neighbors next door with occult backgrounds" ughh 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

FORTUNATELY, it proved me wrong. She was clearly inspired by the masterpiece but it took about half of the book before it felt new-ish and semi-original. Again, that being said I really enjoyed this. (I also LOVED Rosemary's Baby). I enjoyed the buts of paranormal, occult and paranoia.

Thank you to netgalley for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this book! There were lots of twists and turns, some I found to be a bit predictable but most of them were totally shocking! This book had great pacing and was entertaining start to finish. I really enjoyed all of the stories of the characters. I’ve read a handful of disappointing ghost stories lately and this one absolutely did not disappoint.

A thriller set in a creepy apartment building in New York. Chad and Rosie are taking care of Chad's uncle Ivan in his last days. After his death Rosie expects the apartment to go to his daughter. To her surprise he leaves the apartment to Chad and Rosie. They move in and strange things start to happen. Can Rosie see the future and the ghosts in the building. Can she trust anyone including her husband?
The reader will be on a roller coaster ride through this book. Is Rosie's husband who she thinks he is? Another thrilling read from Lisa Unger. Give it a try.

I LOVED this book so much! I loved the characters, I loved the way it sucked me in from the very start — dark + twisted — this book is definitely a page turner. Lisa Unger knocks this one out of the park hardcore - it’s a mix of thriller + ghost story. Definitely pick this one up if you are a thriller fan!

Many thanks to NetGalley and Park Row Books for providing me with this digital reviewer copy. 🤍

Ok a definitely must read! If you are looking for an absolute gripping thriller look no further! I was drawn in instantly and binged it! You could not pry this book from my hands if you tried!

I usually like an unreliable narrator but I thought Rosie wasn’t your typical one. I trusted her the entire time. The vibes were off with everyone else. She didn’t tie up a lot of the loose ends and left me with questions. I did like the side story in the past but I guessed the twist so it kinda just fell flat for me.

Lisa Unger is one of my absolute favorite authors and I will read anything she writes. I was so excited to get a copy of The New Couple in 5B. (Thank you, HTP Books !)

I stayed up super late reading this one because I could not put it down. And then I regretted that because there were a couple of scenes that really creeped me out. 😂

This one definitely has a Gothic, creepy, suspenseful vibe. It has the typical thriller stuff too, like murder and mystery. As a lover of all things book related, I loved the book within a book aspect. The dual timeline works really well here as well.

I absolutely loved this book. Definitely add it to your TBR. It’s available March 5th!!

The New Couple in 5B is another great story by Lisa Unger. I was drawn in right away and captivated by this old apartment building with it's grisly past. With it's disturbing history and colorful neighbors, this book will keep you guessing until the end.

But behind this beautiful building, and uniformed doorman is a dark history that will have you wondering what is really going on at the Windermere. With the perfect neighbors, and helpful doorman, it seems like a dream come true. But Rosie becomes unsettled by the attendant who is always listening, and the camera's watching their every move, when their neighbor turns up dead Rosie is determined to find out the truth.

WoW! This book was a ride. I enjoyed this fast paced, what is going to happen next story. New couple inherits this condo from a late uncle. It’s been known for some bad luck. It was creepy, you didn’t know who to trust and I was here for it.

This was my first book by this author and it won’t be my last. I didn’t see the twists and I was definitely satisfied with the ending
