I love Formula 1 and am a big fan of Lando Norris. I was delighted to get to read this autobiography about his career so far. I found it a very interesting and well researched read. I can’t wait to see what Lando Norris does next!
As someone who is an avid F1 fan and has followed Lando Norris' career, I struggled with this biography. Much of the content consisted of rehashed (public) press releases, social media statements, interviews and race stats. There was no real emotional hook or deeper insight into Lando's life beyond his ups and downs in various racing categories.
There were so many topics that were brushed upon (truly only crumbs) that I would have liked to know more about than a passing sentence or two. I want to clarify that I 100% respect Lando's privacy and am not talking about wanting to read more about his romantic relationships at all, but what about his friendships outside of the world of F1? What about his company "Quadrant"? His role in it and the team? What about his family on and off the track? Give me more about their feelings instead of explaining the term "Qualifying".
Final rating: 2.5 stars! I think there were a couple missed opportunities as I imagine a lot of the target audience is aware of how F1 races work and what happened the past couple years and would have preferred a more personal approach ...
A well written and interesting book about a future F1 world champion’s journey into the sport.
Lando Norris is a great personality- funny, creative, talented and of course a superb driver. Snippets of interviews, race stats and Lando’s personal life and hobbies are well documented here.
An essential read for any F1 fan 🏎️
5 ⭐️ Thanks to Netgalley, Ben Hunt and Icon for an ARC in return for an honest review.
The book was extremely well-thought-out. A quick but detailed 'look in the past' and his career so far. The commentary was clever and the text blended well with the interviews and the overall content of the book.
I was so excited to read this - I’m an avid, but recent, Formula 1 fan, and I find Lando Norris to be charismatic and engaging as a member of the grid.
However - this book was an absolute letdown for me. It felt like a first draft; there’s no cohesion or analysis for any of the quotes (pulled from Sky interviews) and no insight - I felt like I was reading a lengthy Wikipedia article.
As a huge F1 and Lando fan I was interested to find out what I would learn from this book. Lando is still young but has had a wealth of experience within racing competitions. It is clear from reading the book that it is well researched and is written by someone with a wealth of knowledge and love for the sport. It was so interesting to follow Lando as he worked his way through the various levels until he reached F1. There were so many behind the scenes facts and stories within the book. It was a fascinating read and will check out more from Ben!
Lando Norris is a biographical book all about formula 1 driver Lando Norris, and tells the story of how he worked his way up to the formula 1 stage in his life, becoming part of Team McLaren and meeting lots of other amazing people along the way. As someone with a developing interest in formula 1, I was very interested to read this book and find out more about what really goes on behind the scenes, and as Lando is my favourite driver, I wanted to find out more about him, and how he got to where he is today. I liked the way the chapters were laid out and found that although it was a short read, it was really interesting and I found myself wanting more. I would definitely recommend this to anyone interested in racing, McLaren, or Lando himself, especially those like myself, just starting to get into the sport.
Not really an autobiography but more a race by race account of Land Norris' career. His early life is briefly mentioned but the majority of the book is "in this race this happened... He came ..." and as someone who watches F1 I found it hard going. Bits of interviews are inserted to add variety but nothing here that is not readily accessible on the internet.
I received this book as an ARC from Icon Books through NetGalley and this review is based on my own opinion.
The books is about Formula 1 driver Lando Norris.
It starts with a prologue about the 2020 Austrian Grand Prix where Lando got his first podium.
The writer takes you through Lando's journey to Formula 1 from his early karting days until the end of the 2022 Formula 1 season, highlighting all his important moments and races.
I have been a Formula 1 fan for a couple of years now but I still learned some new things about Lando in this book.
Hunt tries to explain much things in great detail so if you're just getting into Formula 1 or you're a newer Norris fan and want to learn more about him this would be a great book to read.
Thank you for allowing me to read Lando Norris by Ben Hunt.
What a brilliant read! Lando Norris, the up and coming future champion of Formula 1, my favourite driver, and my all time favourite funny man. This book made me feel like I personally know Lando, learning about his karting career as a youngster, to learning more about him during his current Formula 1 career, this was an easy high rating read for me!
