This was such a fun graphic novel read. It was an unexpected story but I ended up really enjoying all of the characters in the book and was always hoping that Wendell never got caught. It made me think about more deeply about the afterlife but in a fun way. The graphics and colours are also super cute too! Would recommend this for a fun and easy read!
A cute, hard-hitting, whimsical entry into the world of Sheets by Brenna Thummler. Enter Marjorie, a 13 year-old girl who takes over her mother's laundromat after her passing, when her father can't. When she gets bullied, and their family is in danger of losing not only her mother's laundromat, but their home, fate. intertwines her with Wendall. Wendall, an 11 year-old kid ghost, gets into mischief and breaks every single ghost world rule. Will fate overcome Marjorie's path or come save everything?
I don't think I've ever had a graphic novel that left me feeling this way. Sheets hits hard with so many different topics, and comes at it in such a way that will forever leave an imprint on you. The way that Thummler deals with topics like depression, grief, loss, bullying, and more, is extremely well done.
However, I feel like parts of this went very slow, and near the end, went very fast. And don't even get me started on HIM.
A HUGE shoutout to the artist, Brenna, because these illustrations are so gorgeous.
This is such a cute story. I love the way it is drawn and I love the pacing. It was a very quick read for me and I will definitely be reading the sequels

What a captivating story this is. This is a very unique twist on grief, and how we deal with it. The art is some of the most beautiful art I've ever seen, truly captures your eye and makes you not want to ever put it down. And with the cutest little ghosts ever 🥹
Sheets by Brenna Thummler is an adorable graphic novel that’ll steal your heart! 💖 It’s a whimsical tale about a girl and a ghost navigating grief and friendship in a charming, illustrated world. Perfect for fans of cozy, feel-good reads.
This book was silly, goofy, and weird, I loved the ghost drawings and the town illustrations. It had a perfect Halloween vibe that I found really charming. The art was super cute, and the story was simple and sweet with a satisfying resolution. I’d definitely give this to my daughters, who fits the book's age range, and I could see myself picking up more of these just for the art.
Huge thanks to Netgalley for allowing me to read and review this graphic novel 😊
I really enjoyed this book and I especially loved the colors used in the illustrations. The style of art wasn't exactly for me, but I did enjoy the story and meaning behind the book. Overall, a great graphic novel which I would give 4.5 stars ⭐👻
This isn't the usual type of book I would read but it was cute. I liked that it was easy to follow. There is more in the series, would I read them? Probably not but still if you like this type of book then give them a go. Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Themes: grief, struggle, friendship
Mood: exhausted, hopeful
Characters
Margorie: a girl who lost her mom and now keeps her family afloat by taking over their family laundry business
Wendell: a sheet-ghost who doesn't want to admit how he died and has trouble fitting into his new life
Fav Quotes
"You can't over-die."
Pros
+ gorgeous color palette of strong pastel blues, mints, pinks
+ really love the sheet-ghost community
+ 11yo Wendell & baby Timmy sheet-ghosts 💔
+ The dead sheet-ghosts we meet are so young and die so tragically (drowning and hit by a train) that my heart was aching reading their backstories
Neutral
/ wavy, round, chubby illustration style, which isn't my favorite but is completely subjective
Cons
- I can logically understand how Marjorie's dad was too grief stricken to function for the family, but emotionally I really hate him. He leaves Marjorie in charge of everything at such a young age, a weight she shouldn't have to bear, especially not alone.
- the antagonist was completely 2D, a literal moustachioed villain
TW: death of a parent (off-page), absent parent (due to grief), death of children (off-page)
This book was super cute and easy to read, I recommended it to all of my friends that read. I'm looking forward to picking up the next book in the series.
Cute story. Deals with some heavy topics in a relatable way. This is an enjoyable middle grade graphic novel.
This is a sad but beautiful story about Marjorie, a girl dealing with grief and loneliness, who finds a new friend in Wendell, an 11-year old ghost. There are so many great characters in this novel, from the evil businessman trying to keep Marjorie's family business, to the people in town, the people at school and Baby Timmy.
This novel was a delight to read. The pinks and purples and blues in the illustrations are absolutely stunning. The town feels very real, and Marjorie's sadness comes through the images. There were some illustrations, especially of the town, that I really wish I could frame and look at them everyday.
Finally, a lovely quote from Marjorie's mom: "... this place is home, baby. And once you have that, there's nowhere you'd rather be."

In this graphic novel we follow both Marjorie a young girl who runs her family's laundromat after her mother passes and Wendell, a ghost wearing a sheet.
I loved the art style and the colour pallet was amazing! It's what drew me in to begin with. It's a very heart-warming story of loss, navigating life and just finding your way after a very life changing event.
There are obviously some thing I felt were very far fetched like how the father left his 12 year old daughter to run the family business and his kindergarten age son was left alone to fend for himself because the father was too heartbroken and depressed to look after them.
Overall a very cute story and I would defiantly recommend to a middle grade / YA person in my life.
a fun little bit and it was a nice break in between horror/thriller books! i loved the art and colors used as well, very dreamy in a way.
Majorie works at the laundry mat, and ends up meeting a boy, Wendall, who happens to be a ghost. This is a heartwarming story of unlikely friendship that is so easy to consume as it’s a graphic novel.
3 stars!
I thought this was cute! The art was super cute and I thought the story was simple and sweet, with a nice resolution. I would definitely give this to my niece who fits more within the age range of this book and I could see myself reading more of these intermittently just for the art.

I adore this cute and sweet little graphic novel. Simple and easy to read but overall really cute and fun.
I'm not going to lie, I hated this story so much. It made 0 sense most of the time and was pretty lame. But I like the color pallet of the pictures so it gets a 1.5
This was an emotional read with beautiful graphics. A well written form of dealing with grief. I really enjoyed this one.
It took me a few times to actually get into this and finish it.
The story just didn't really grab me at all and sadly it felt like a chore to get through.
Not really a fan of the art so that may have been a factor.
Probably just a 2 1/2 but rounded up.
